Without my help, Roman wouldn't manage to land a managerial position in my uncle's company.
I doubted that he would manage to get to that position. When asked by my uncle what engagement present I would like from him and because I was blindly in love with Roman, I asked my uncle for Roman's promotion.I remember my uncle's shock at that time which he quickly covered with a grin and said, "Of course, I will do as my favorite niece asked me.""No, that's not true," Roman denied itBut I knew he was eyeing the position of the CFO as he said it when I came to pick him up at the bar because he could not drive. In his drunkenness he blurted it out.I was planning to ask my uncle to give him that position, however my uncle was away for a long business trip. The night of my uncle's return to the country, I went to Roman's apartment to tell him that we were going to my uncle's villa.I drove to his apartment and planned to wait for him there since it was still early. The lights of his apartment were on and this made me wonder as Roman wasn't a wasteful person.Always making sure that lights were off before leaving his apartment. It got me worried that he might be ill and didn't go to work.In haste, I made my way to his room but an embarrassing sound coming from his room stopped my feet from taking another step.He was really into porn, multiple times he persuaded me to watch with him but declined each time.I was hesitating to enter his room however when I remembered my purpose I gathered my courage to push the ajar door.My knees buckled down and I swayed when I saw two naked bodies intertwined together on the bed.One was Roman, my fiance and the other one was my best friend, Lucy."Roman? Lucy?"I was jolted back to the present when Roman darted to me and embraced me."Let go of me, Roman," I screamed.I tried to get out from his arms but my hands were locked up and he embraced me tightly."Let her go!" I heard a voice from behind and saw the president's body guard.Roman released me. A mocking grin was on his lips."Oh, you found a rebound, that's why you don't want to come back to me," he said, looking up and down, scrutinizing the bodyguard whom he thought was my lover."I will never come back to a scum like you even if I don't have a man beside me," I said coldly."You'll regret not coming back to me for this man," his face was full of confidence."I regretted the day I gave my heart to you," I watched as Roman's face paled as I replied.Defeated, he turned and left me.I felt no remorse looking at his receding defeated silhouette.Stepping into the house, I froze on my spot when my eyes met with the president."Come here," his soothing voice waltzed into my ears.I couldn't understand why I started to walk towards him as if I was being hypnotized.I sat on the loveseat across from him."He's not worth it," he said."Thank you, Mr. President," I said and smiled at him.He nodded his head while a faint smile appeared at the corner of his lips, dispelling his coldness. My perception about this cold man in front of me, greatly changed. He wasn't uncaring and indifferent.Undoubtedly, he's a sympathetic person.I caught sight of the wall clock and it was already tea time."Would you like to have a biscuit and tea, Mr. President?" My voice was jovial. With raised eyebrows and pursed lips, he looked at me intently. The smile on my lips didn't fade as I waited for his answer."Sure!" He replied and I scurried to the kitchen.I went back, carrying a tray and served him biscuits and tea."Where's your cup?" He asked me. "Go get your cup and join me," he added."No, but thanks, Mr. President," I refused him.I couldn't join him. He's the president and I can't be drinking tea with him.I never forgot who I was and certainly knew my place."Come on! This is your house, remember? The host should join the guest," he said to me, his lips curled up in a full smile. My heart leaped seeing him smile."Alright," I couldn't refute what he said. We're quite companionable even with the silence enveloping the place. From time to time, our eyes met and we smiled at each other."Would you like to go to your room and have a rest, Mr. President?"Something flickered in his eyes but I couldn't tell what it was."Okay, please help me to my room, captain," I went near him and had his arm rest on my shoulders and held his waist while I led him to the room.I am physically fit however by the time we reached the room, I was panting.Being head taller than me, I felt breathless when we reached the room, as he leaned almost all his weight on me.Panting as I propped my arm on the bed to help him lay down, my hand slid, which caused my face to land on the president's firm chest.I whimpered and touched my nose."Are you hurt?" I heard the president's voice at the top of my head and I looked up.Our faces were just a few inches apart and I could feel his warm breath fanning over my face.Gray piercing eyes captivated me. As if he had taken me into a different world where we were the only people who existed. He lifted his hands and used the pad of his thumb to brush my lower lip. "You are so beautiful," he said with a hoarse voice. He slid his hand on my neck and slid up to the back of my head. "Mr. President, General Rossini is here," a voice came from the outside. That voice seemed to destroy the world we were in and brought us back to reality. Embarrassed, I stood up and straightened my clothes and then I propped him up with pillows on his back so he could sit comfortably. General Rossini gave me a look as if he already guessed what had occurred a while ago. I hurriedly took my leave after greeting him. My heart beat only came back to normal after I had drank cold water. Did he want to kiss me? Impossible. He wouldn't take interest in me. I don't know if I was right. Or I was just over thinking. I'm not his type. The woman I saw in his room that night w
I didn't notice that two months had flown by quickly as we got so busy in the base. One night, Major Kavanaugh went knocking at the door of my quarter. "Captain Smith, please follow me," I followed him without question as I trusted this comrade. Seeing that we are drawing near the quarter where the president stayed during his surprise inspection, my body stiffened. My heart was restless but I reasoned that he can't be here because I never heard that he came. So, I calmed down. "Go inside," Major Kavanaugh said. Reluctantly, I reached for the knob and twisted it before pushing the door. My feet were rooted on the floor upon seeing the familiar back of a man. He's here! "Don't just stand there, come in and close the door behind you," his voice that was like a cielo resounded in my ears. I missed this voice. The last time I heard his voice was at the party, the night he proposed marriage to me. After that night, I never heard from him. I deduced that he was just jesting. "Tar
NarratorThat night, two bodyguards who stood next to the closed door, looked at each other. Their eyes were dancing with mischief as they heard Tara whimpering. "Mr. President, please," her voice sounded hoarse and alluring. Dawn was breaking in when the whimpering of the woman inside the room gradually subsided. The sun was beginning to rise when the door flung open. Emerging from the room, the man who had dark circles under his eyes, a visible proof that he didn't sleep a wink was already dressed and ready to leave. Judging from his appearance the guards need not to rack their brains to guess what took place inside the room. The bodyguards looked down to hide their smirk. The president couldn't resist the beauty who was begging for his help. They wanted to talk about what happened however they kept it to themselves because they knew better than to gossip about the president. Tara's POVI was startled when I opened my eyes to an unfamiliar room. Realizing that it was the
By six in the evening, we left the base and flew by a chartered plane. I was surprised when I got out of the plane. We landed at the biggest airport in the nation at the heart of the capital city. I did not ask my superior and followed him obediently, feeling I was being led to be slaughtered. A car was already waiting for us. The driver opened it for us and I hopped in after General Rossini went into the car. After a while the car was out of the airport and joined in the traffic. Having been sleepless the night before, I got drowsy and I couldn't stop my head from nodding. Unknowingly, I drift off to sleep. The next thing I knew I was inside a luxurious room. "You're awake," I heard a magnetic voice. It's been a while since I heard that voice. My body tensed up and I looked away hiding my nervousness from his prying eyes. I felt the bed dipped which just heightened my edginess. Him sitting beside me while I lay on the bed made the space crowded, although the bed was huge.
After I had my shower. I was directed toward the dresser and had me sit on the bench. The make up artist began to apply primer on my face. The people being hired to doll me up were Astranian expats. They didn't knew that I could understand them. They were discussing that my so-called date must be a filthy rich guy who would spend a fortune just being his partner for a birthday party. So, the wedding was secret. At that moment I was so conflicted that I didn't really know what I wanted and how I felt. They chatter about me and the anonymous rich man while dolling me up. I had no idea how much time was spent dolling me up. It was like eternity. I was all set when Major Kavanaugh showed up in the hotel presidential suite. His eyes squinted as he looked at me. "You look stunning, madam," he bowed, showing me deference. "Major Kavanaugh, I'm still the same Captain Smith, your comrade," I said when he held my hand and put it at the crook of his arm. "You are above us now madam, b
I looked down at my feet to conceal my sadness. We just got married and he was already leaving. Andrei might be getting revenge as I have continually rejected him. Now, I know his pain. How I wish, I could bring back the past and change how I responded to him. "Don't be sad," Major Kavanaugh said. "The president has an urgent matter to do." I fixed my expression and forced myself to smile before looking up. He chuckled. "Don't force yourself to smile, you don't look good." The journey back to the hotel, Major Kavanaugh cracked jokes to brighten up the rather somber mood inside the car. I have seen Major Kavanaugh in a different light today. He was known to be reserved and taciturn. His presence doused me with his warmth driving away the coldness around me because of my husband's apparent rejection. "I have to get going, call the front desk if you need anything," Major Kavanaugh patted my head and turned on his heels and left. Left alone, the luxurious and spacious suite bec
Completely losing my appetite after seeing the news, I discontinued eating my chips. I was glad that I had eaten the burger prior to the news. I didn't linger at the burger store as I used to do. Before heading back to the hotel, I wandered aimlessly. My mind was filled with Andrei. And my heart was in chaos. I regretted the day I decided not to leave and wanted to have a glimpse of him. It was my curiosity that led me to my present misery. I should have left the base that day and not met him. Thinking of it, even if I left that day. Meeting him was inevitable because he was attacked by a bear and it happened near my house. It must be my fate to meet him. And it must be my fate to be heartbroken the second time around. Roman had broken it the first time and now, it was Andrei. Unknowingly, I reached the park and saw a co
There was little surprise on his face when he turned and saw me. But quickly regained his composure. I, on the other hand, was having a hard time composing myself. "Ms. Smith," he said, his voice void of affection. A stinging sensation blanketed my heart. "Who is she, Andrei?" Stella asked while she possessively wrapped her hands at Andrei's bicep. I want to drag her away from my husband. I waited for his answer but wished I had not heard his answer. "She's the new dietitianselected by the ministers." "Why did you change your dietitian all of the sudden? Stefano had been by your side before you became the president," she pouted and glared at me, while she laid her head on Andrei's shoulder. I was anticipating for Andrei to push her head away but he didn't. Wearing an indifferent expression, I stared at the coup
