SIXTEEN

         The persistent ringing of Dominic's Android phone awoke him from his slumber. Squinting at the rays of the morning sunlight pouring through the half open window blinds of his study, he sat up. He was terribly hungover. Moreso, his mind was hazy. He blinked several times to get rid of the blurriness of his vision. Rubbing a palm over his face, he picked up his ringing phone. Then, he swiped his thumb across the screen before bringing it to his ear.

"Have you been ignoring my calls?" Adelynn demanded and he winced.

"Lower your voice, will you?" He rasped, his voice hoarse. Adelynn was startled by his response. She suspected at once that he was hungover.

"Have you been drinking?" She probed, her voice lowered. He ignored her question and said, "What did you mean by what you said yesterday? I didn't go on a date with anyone"
