Chapter 12 : Still Fated

The same way we were supposed to meet our mate when we reached seventeen, there was also an age requirement for us to be able to shift and communiate with our wolves. Though it was never definite nor absolute, most of our kind get to meet their wolves at the age of ten to twelve. Thus, when I failed to save my mother from the invaders; the rogue wolves, I was outcasted. I was considered as a wolfless wolf whose ability to shift was denied for eternity. The pack believed then that my fate was already decided. That I’d grow alone, live alone, die alone.

But only until my seventeenth birthday. I met Alice, my wolf, whom I thought did not exist. The rest was history. Now, the question was how was my mother able to tell I was wolfless when I was just five when she was writing these letters?

“Then…” My heart contorted. I was staggered. “If Alice was truly my mother’s wolf, what would happen to me?”

Why would they blame her for not shifting when she was only five years old if they don’t normally get there wolves until they’re 10?
