Eve

I decided to cook to make up for my earlier “disrespect” towards the king. The last thing I wanted was for him to fire me when I hadn’t even fulfilled my mission for being here. If I got kicked out now, all my efforts and the humiliation I had endured would have been for nothing.

I chose to make something not too fancy but still wholesome—Cowboy steak with charred corn panzanella. A hearty meal, but not extravagant enough to come across as trying too hard.

To distract myself, I tuned into the radio station that broadcasted to the general werewolf packs. The familiar voice of Alex, the presenter, filled the kitchen. I liked him because he was balanced, and never biased. He spoke about issues that truly mattered rather than the usual useless gossip that flooded most channels.

As I chopped my avocados, the discussion on the radio deepened. Correspondents called in, talking about the greed among some Alphas who wasted resources meant for their people. Another spoke about the worsenin

Eve Shahar sat beside me in the sitting area of the restaurant, which overlooked the sea. The location was carefully chosen—far from the hustle and bustle of the main pack territory. The atmosphere was intimate, enhanced by the sea breeze that made the lantern-lit ambiance feel even more romantic . The walls were adorned with traditional motifs, and the scent of salt and freshly grilled seafood lingered in the air.Still, despite the beautiful setting, I couldn’t shake off the nagging feeling that we were doing something wrong by leaving Axel all by himself.“He’s fine,” Shahar said for what felt like the thousandth time. “I see you’re wearing your cloak of empathy.”I peeled my gaze away from him and stared at my plate—stir-fried rice noodles with shrimp, tofu, and sauce. Empathy, indeed. If only he knew my real reason for being here. I was on a date with the best friend of my enemy, with the very person who could unwittingly help me get the information I needed. How ironic.“But

EveI brushed my teeth with the force of someone who had swallowed something absolutely disgusting. My grip on the toothbrush was so tight that I felt pity for the poor brush.I kept scrubbing, harder and harder, as if I could erase the memory of what had just happened. I brushed so aggressively that my gums began to sting, but I didn’t stop.Maya was fuming inside me, pacing and growling like a caged animal. But oddly enough, the pain this time wasn’t as sharp as it had been when Axel had been the one betraying us. Maybe because I was the one doing the cheating this time. “He deserves it, " I spat out, rinsing my mouth and squeezing another dollop of toothpaste onto my brush. “Let him feel the same pain he caused us.”But even as I said those words, a sinking feeling settled in my gut. When did I become so stupid? When did my revenge turn into this twisted mess of emotions? Axel had been brought in earlier looking like he had barely survived the day, and here I was, testing his pa

EveAxel didn't come downstairs for breakfast, and with Victoria gone to her family house for the weekend, his meal was in my hands.A maid had informed me that he hadn't left his bedroom since the previous day, and somehow, my messed-up concern for him took over. Against my better judgment, I decided to prepare chicken broth. Before heading to his room, I rushed back into mine, spritzed on a mild body mist, and quickly fixed my hair. I braided it into a long plait before rolling it into a bun and securing it with pins. Then, I washed my hands, carefully plated the food, and took a deep breath before stepping out.Why was I even bothering to look good for someone who couldn’t give two fucks about me?I shook my head, scolding myself internally as I climbed the stairs. When I reached his bedroom door, I hesitated for a brief moment before knocking lightly.Silence.I knocked again, this time a little louder.Still, no response.I exhaled and slowly pushed the door open. Before I even t

AxelA heaviness settled in my limbs, making it nearly impossible to open my eyes. Though I was aware of my surroundings, my body refused to cooperate. It felt like sleep paralysis, where my mind was awake, yet my muscles remained frozen. Even so, I could sense when someone entered the room. The soft pad of footsteps was light, and the scent was undeniably feminine.I struggled to lift my eyelids, fully expecting to see Nina standing over me, as she often did, uninvited and overstepping her boundaries. But when I finally forced my eyes open, I was met with Shahar’s latest fascination, Eve.She stood stiffly beside the bed, rigid as if she had just been caught doing something she shouldn’t have. Her eyes widened in shock, and I could tell she was trying and failing to mask her reaction. Her fingers had been on me.I could feel the sensation—a light touch tracing the scar along my ribcage. She had yanked her hand away as if I had burned her. My gaze scanned the surroundings, noting th

EveFire surged from Axel’s body to mine, igniting a lustful, sinful sensation so overwhelming that I was blind to everything but the pleasure coursing through me.He was all I wanted, all I could think about. A forbidden longing had taken root, sending a delicious shiver down my spine. The need to possess him, to be claimed by him, burned hotter than anything I had ever felt.I ran a hand around his abdomen, massaging with oils until he arched into my touch. His breathing grew heavier, and his muscles relaxed beneath my touch. His closed eyes and slightly parted lips were a sign that he was enjoying the sensation of my hands working his muscles. The dirty part of my mind imagined him buried inside me with a savage thrust.I inhaled the scent of the bond, and my chest rose and fell with an unspoken desire. My hands slipped beneath his shirt and stroked over the warm skin. When I rubbed his left nipple between two fingers, he sucked in a breath, and his eyes widened Reality struck. He

EveI hid behind a stone-carved pillar, watching Axel preside over the throne room.He sat in full regalia, a dark military jacket adorned with golden insignias, a cape trimmed with fur flowing behind him like a mark of absolute authority. His presence alone was enough to command the room, and when he spoke, his voice held an effortless power that silenced all other voices—the unmistakable voice of a king. The council members, mostly older males, surrounded him, discussing political matters. Despite Axel being a major asshole, there was something undeniably majestic about him. He exuded control, and whether I liked it or not, I couldn’t deny that it was captivating.I tore my gaze away from him and turned my attention to the two brothers standing before him. A land dispute had brought them here, and I could already tell, even without hearing much, that the older one was greedy and manipulative.“That land was our father’s legacy, not your personal kingdom!” the younger brother argued

AxelWatching my packmates from a vantage point left me feeling stripped of my power, my authority—everything tied to my identity as King.I kept my hands buried in my pockets, leaning against the wall in a secluded section of the castle, a place where no one could find me. An open window and balcony overlooked the wolf parade below, but I had shielded the view with a curtain to ensure no one could look up and see me.The howls and laughter of my packmates drifted upward, piercing through the silence I had wrapped myself in. It was almost laughable how most of them hadn’t even realized something was wrong. Their king was supposed to be leading them, standing at the forefront of every ceremony—except, of course, when unavoidably absent.Perhaps I should thank the fucked up goddess for whoever was ruining my life. Maybe they had also blinded my people to the obvious.&nbs

EveI wouldn’t say I was surprised when Nina slapped me. It would have been more surprising if she hadn’t. The moment she slammed her fork down, her eyes flashing with rage, I knew what was coming. The slap wasn’t even the painful part. What hurt most was Axel sipping his wine, completely unbothered that his mate had just been assaulted—the fact that made my blood boil."Taste it!" Nina shrieked, shoving her plate forward as if daring me. "How dare you make this trash and try to pin the blame on me?"I remained composed. There was no need to taste it—I was the one who had prepared and served her meal, and I knew exactly what I had done.Yes, I had deliberately over-salted it.Maya had been relentless, whispering in my mind, urging me to do something to ruin Nina’s perfect evening. And like a fool, I had let my wolf’s

Axel’s POVI woke up with a nagging headache, groaning as I turned to the other side of the bed, too lazy to get up. My limbs felt heavy, my throat dry, and my stomach twisted painfully from the weight of everything I had learned. It had been four fucking days.Four days without food.Four days punishing myself for something I didn’t even know how to atone for.My body had adjusted to the deprivation, my system forcing itself into survival mode, but today I needed to eat. The exhaustion was starting to feel like surrender. And I refused to surrender. Not to fate. Not to this curse. Not to the truth that had shattered everything I had believed about my life.I had spent my entire existence thinking my suffering was a result of my enemies. We were the cause of our own downfall.I closed

AxelEve stood at the other end of the hall, seemingly busy, though I wasn’t sure if she had not noticed me or was just pretending.I walked toward her, waiting to see how long she would keep up the act.She turned at the last moment, acting surprised. “Your Majesty,” she greeted smoothly. “Good morning.”I didn’t respond right away.I wasn’t even sure why I was suddenly irritated. There were a thousand other things more pressing than a cook ignoring my summon. And yet, here I was, standing in front of her, irritated beyond reason because she hadn’t brought my damn breakfast.“I specifically asked for you,” I said, my voice even but sharp. “Yet you disobeyed and sent the maid.”Eve blinked at me, all wide eyes and false innocence.

Eve’s POVI wiped my tears roughly with my scarf as my mind reeled from the weight of my own confession.Gaia exhaled slowly, shaking her head as if trying to process it all. "What a bloody revolution," she murmured. The silence between us stretched. I could feel her gaze on me, studying me. Not with judgment, but with compassion and understanding.I hated it.I turned away, clenching my fists. “You can judge me all you want, but that night in the kitchen, I was trying to do what could only be considered revenge. And yet, I couldn’t even bring myself to go through with it. This damn bond is like a curse festering in my bones, poisoning everything.”Gaia hummed, tilting her head as if weighing my words. “Or maybe you have a kind heart. It’s rare, you know.”I scoffed, wiping the last of my te

Eve’s POVSomething was wrong with Axel.He hadn’t come downstairs for dinner, hadn’t spoken to anyone, hadn’t even allowed anyone into his room. It was as if he had locked himself in solitary confinement, shutting out the world. This was the second day, and my worry had only grown.I heard the sound of a van pulling up outside. My heart lifted slightly as I rushed out, already knowing who it was.Shahar stepped out of his van as I ran straight to him for a hug. He tensed for half a second before hugging me back.Strange.“Has he come downstairs?”I pulled away, shaking my head. His jaw tightened, and he stared at the house like he was trying to come up with a plan. Finally, he reached for my hand and gave it a light squeeze.“I’ll try my best.

AxelThe wind carried the scent of salt and damp earth as I made my way toward Priestess Gaia’s hut. The water crashed against the rocks and the chill bit at my skin, but my mind was too heavy to care.Approaching the hut, my steps faltered. There, half-buried in the sand, was the priestess—only her head visible, her long silver-streaked hair tangled with bits of seaweed. My arm clutched my chest as I frowned. “What the hell are you doing?”A raspy laugh bubbled from her throat. “Ah, the mighty king is afraid?”“Not in the slightest,” I muttered, stepping forward. “Do I even want to know if this is some sort of ritual?”She grinned up at me. “A cleansing ritual,” she said simply. “Submission to the earth, to the ancestors. You should try it.”“

Axel's POVA mad giggle burst from Shahar as he lunged at me again with fast and wild strikes, like he had something to prove. I gritted my teeth, blocking him, but his speed had doubled since we started. I was sparring, he was fighting like his life depended on it."Admit that I won," Shahar taunted, breathless. A grin stretched across his face as he tried to pin me down."Fuck off," I grumbled, shoving his hand away when he tried to pull me up.It was all lighthearted, nothing serious, but even the warriors watching knew he had put in twice the effort I had. A few of them chuckled, shaking their heads even when we both knew I was naturally stronger. Shahar had always been this way, competing with me in ways I never invited."I smell like shit. I'll freshen up before coming back to see Eve," he said, wiping sweat from his forehead.Something sharp twisted in my chest, and I forced a smile, pretending his words didn’t sink into my bones like a curse.Envy.It burned through me like a

Eve "I have to go," I said to Axel, watching as he finished his meal with a satisfaction he didn’t bother to hide.He never openly admitted how much he liked my cooking, unlike Shahar, who would shower me with exaggerated compliments and bounce like a kid. But I knew. Axel was getting addicted. The way he scraped his plate clean, the way he always finished before everyone else, the way his eyes lingered on the food before he even took his first bite—it was all the proof I needed."Stay," he said, wiping his mouth with a napkin. "I'll be rounding up soon."I lifted my head, meeting his gaze. That smug look on his face irritated me because he was fully aware of why I was looking at him like that."So why did you make me go through all this stress if you were coming home tonight anyway?" I asked, crossing my arms.He shrugged, feigning nonchalance, and went right back to eating, not even sparing me another glance. Sneaky, arrogant, huge-ass bastard. Here I was, a woman about to marry

Eve Our lips met in a passionate embrace. The kiss was deep and hungry, with our tongues entwined in a dance that mirrored our growing desire. My hands roamed over his broad chest, tracing the contours of his torso under his lab coat. While his thumbs brushed against my nipples, already stiff with excitement, the sensation sent a jolt of pleasure through my body, causing me to moan softly into his mouth."What are you doing to me?" He breathed against my ear. "You're so fucking irresistible.""I know."With each passing moment, the atmosphere grew heavier and thicker with desire. My movement became more purposeful as I began to undress him, with my fingers unbuttoning his shirt, revealing his sculpted torso. My eyes traced the lines of his shoulders and the ridges of his abdomen. One by one, his garments fell away, and soon he stood before me, with his damned body a work of art, hot and ready."So needy, huh?" He whispered against my ear as I reached for his belt, deftly unbuckling i

Eve Crystal was biting into a cake when I returned to the kitchen. I stood before her."What the hell was that about?"She turned her gaze to me, completely deadpan. "What are you asking me for?"I shot her a look. "You know exactly what I'm talking about. You attacked Shahar."Crystal leaned back, faking surprise. "Oh, my bad. Did he run to you complaining that I hurt his feelings? Maybe I should send him an apology basket with scented candles and a handwritten note that says, ‘Dear Shahar, sorry for treating you like the disposable pawn that you are.’""That's not fair. You didn't even go after Axel like that."She shrugged. "That's because I don't have to. We know what Axel is. We know what he did. But you're getting too comfortable. I see it, and it's dangerous. We didn't come here to make friends or get married.""Let's take a walk. Fewer ears," I said. She rolled her eyes. "Whatever."We headed out and walked along the stone path. The estate's garden was always peaceful, and I
