Chapter Three
Alpha Davon's POV
I walked into the throne room very early in the morning, summoned by the elders who just wouldn't let me have a good night's rest after a very busy night.
"Greetings, Alpha," said the elders, who were already seated waiting for my arrival.
Waving at them, I smiled and nodded in acknowledgement. Then, I walked to my throne and sat, placing my hands on the sides of the chair, as I always loved to.
"Hello, brother."
I smiled at my brother as he greeted me, seated on the chair right next to mine. That place was normally reserved for the Beta, who was the second in command, but I was more comfortable having my brother there.
When my father died, the Pack was torn between both of us, who was to be the Alpha of the Pack. My father didn't have the chance to declare any of us as his heir due to the unexpected nature of his death and no Pack had ever had two Alphas.
The elders decided that we were going to battle it out in a combat that could only be won if one of us either submitted or died. I won, though it was close and I thought in my mind that there was going to be some sort of rancour between us.
Murray proved me wrong. He was the first to congratulate me on the day of my coronation and since then, he showed me more support than anyone else in the Pack. He was a brother indeed.
"We are honoured to have you amongst us, my Alpha," one of the elders remarked, standing to his feet. He was known as The Eagle. I didn't even know his real name. He was the oldest of all of the elders and was considered the wisest too. Somehow, he knew all that happened in the Pack even without being present.
As he spoke, my mind drifted back to the event that happened the previous night. Well, not just the event, but the girl.
Ever since I set my eyes on her, I couldn't get myself to get her off my mind. There was something different about her; something special.
Her smell… Oh, how lovely it was, like the sweet smell of cinnamon, leaving a lasting impression in my mind.
"What if she's my mate?" I asked myself, before brushing that thought away as quickly as it came.
She looked nothing like royalty. If she was, she wouldn't have been seeking a way out of her Pack. She must have been a lowly maid who got tired of all of the abuse that came with the position. Poor girl.
"Alpha! Alpha!"
"Yeah… I'm happy to be here before all of…" I jolted back into consciousness and began to speak, stopping abruptly ok seeing that I was probably saying stuff that I shouldn't.
I looked across at Raymond, my Beta and I could spot the smile on his face. That jerk! He always looked for every opportunity to poke fun at me and he found one.
"I'm sure that all of you have seen the lifeless men on the Pack square," I said with a smile. "That would teach every rogue a lesson, who dares to step into the borders of this Pack or the Runway Pack, just as we agreed."
"But, Alpha, you should not have gone there alone. What if something had happened to you?" Asked one of the elders.
"I love to work alone and nothing can ever happen to me," I retorted. "I am Davon, the Alpha of Alphas. Who is the rogue that can pose any sort of threat to me?"
"I'm afraid he's right, brother," my brother supported, much to my displeasure. "You could have at least said something to me."
"I don't need your permission or that of anyone else to handle simple Pack business," I growled. "You don't tell me what to do, Murray. I'm your Alpha. I call the shots in here and all of you have to get that into your skulls!"
"We were just trying to show concern…"
"Shove it down your ass! Am I not here now? Are the heads of our enemies not hanging on spikes in Pack Square? Those are just a few rogues, roaming around and causing trouble. It's not like there were so many. If I need help at any time, I'll be the first to ask for it."
"I'm sorry, my Alpha," Murray apologised in a rather low tone and I knew that I had upset him, even though I didn't mean to.
"What I have done is to prove to the Runway Pack that we are always true to our words," I continued, not wanting to look weak by apologising to him. "We have shown that we can be trusted and with our alliance, no other Pack will dare challenge us. Soon enough, these rogues will learn to stay away from our Packs for good."
"Yet, an Alpha is considered incomplete without his Luna. We all know that. With a powerful Luna by your side, the rogues will fear you the more. So I feel we need to take things a bit further," the Eagle suggested.
"How?"
"Marry the Princess.." I paused to reflect on what he was suggesting. "It'll strengthen our bond and alliance with them and keep the rogues at bay since they're the second strongest pack."
"But you know that I cannot. I have been cursed by the goddess. I have no mate. All of my past relationships have ended in a sour state. You all know how the last one almost got us into a war with the Redhawk Pack. I don't think this is a brilliant idea."
"I think it is, brother, if I may speak," Murray chipped in. "Even if you don't have a mate, you can have a Luna. This is a matter of the welfare of the Pack and what better time do you have to make that move than now that you've helped them take care of their rogue problem?"
He was right. As much as I didn't want it, it had to happen quickly. It was no use waiting for a mate that was never going to come. Besides, I heard that Alina was a very beautiful lady.
"Send word to the Runway Pack, Raymond," I ordered my Beta. "I'll be heading over to their Pack tomorrow with my brother. You'll stay here and handle the affairs of the Pack until I return."
"But my place is with you, my Alpha…"
"You'll do as I say!"
He nodded and walked away while I leaned back on my chair. "I might see that girl tomorrow," I thought in my mind, not knowing what I was going to do if that happened.
Chapter FourElsa's POV"Are you done cleaning up the kitchen area?" Maggie asked hurriedly as we stepped out of the room and headed down the hallway."Yes. Sure. I did that earlier this morning," I answered, pausing to scratch my unkempt hair. "I did think I was going to prepare the meal for the guests though. Everyone knows that I'm the best cook here but it seems Melissa didn't want that.""It's Luna Melissa, Elsa. How many times do I have to warn you to address her properly?" Maggie asked, squeezing her face. "You can't tell when she'd suddenly step out and hear you call her that and if we're together, I'll go in for that."I just nodded. I hated to call her anything that wasn't her name. I hated her so much; Alina too. They were undeserving of their respective titles in my opinion."I guess they don't want the Alpha to taste my food and fall in love with me," I suggested. "Perhaps, they have eyes on…"I was cut short by the voices that I heard. We had gotten just outside Alina's
Chapter FiveElsa's POV"You're really going to do it, Elsa? Are you sure you want to risk it all?" Wolf asked excitedly. It was almost as if she was more keen on seeing me take on such a daring adventure than I was. For him, it was more than a quest to be united with my mate; it was also fun to her. She loved that kind of stuff. It was as if she was born for it."Shut up," I spat, wondering how on Earth I managed to have a wolf that was quite the opposite of who I was. If I wasn't strong enough to hold her back, she'd have had control all the time. She was that aggressive."Is it Wolf again?" Maggie asked, with a smile on her face. I nodded and she just shook her head, this time laughing aloud. "You still haven't told me what exactly you have planned to do, Elsa. I'm sure you didn't look so enthusiastic for nothing."I gazed at her for a while, wondering if I could disclose my plans to her. For sure, she was my best friend but I had learned from my mother's life not to trust anyone.
Chapter SixAlina's POV"Mom! It's happening!" I yelled in excitement, jumping up and down in my room as my mother just stared at me with a slight shock on her face."Of course, it is, sweetie," she remarked, shaking her head. "I told you, didn't I? You're a princess; my red hair princess and you deserve nothing but the best. That's why I'm here, honey, to always give you the best.""Thank you so much, Mum," I paced around in excitement, struggling to control my emotions. "I'll be a Luna Queen pretty soon. I can't believe it. I knew he'd love that dress. I was sure he was gonna love it. Why not? It was picked by the best mother in the world, wasn't it?""You can say that again, honey.""Is it the shoes?" I continued, placing both hands of mine on my mother's shoulders. "If I were in his shoes, I'd have fallen for those shoes just like he did. He looked dazzled and for a while, he couldn't get his eyes off me.""For a while?" She asked, concerned."Yes. I noticed that there was a momen
Chapter SevenElsa's POVFour Days Later"Wolf, what is it?" I asked, sitting back down on my bed after I had already stood to head over to the kitchen."I don't know, Elsa. Suddenly, I'm feeling very uneasy and unconvinced about what we want to do.""Why so?" I asked, quite surprised that she'd say that. She was all giggly and enthusiastic when I first thought about it. Indeed, she was one of the main reasons why I chose to go on with it. Her sudden doubts put the entire plan in jeopardy and I didn't want that at all."What if we get caught, Elsa? That'll mean the end of us and I'm not ready to die." She sounded so concerned, in a way I'd never seen. I mean, only a few people were thrilled by the thought of dying, so it wasn't such an easy thing to accept, but we had never been so keen on living either, especially because life wasn't worth it anyway. After so many long years of suffering at the hands of the Luna Queen and her spoiled child, we could finally see a way out; something
Chapter EightElsa's POVIt was the eve of the day that Princess Alina was to be taken to the Stronghold Pack to meet with Alpha Davon and from all that I heard from Maggie, she was more than excited, and why not?Alpha Davon wasn't just an Alpha. He was the Alpha of Alphas. All the alphas in the realm were afraid of him and everyone wanted to be on his good side. No one wanted to see the side of him that wreaked havoc and destruction. It wasn't so pleasant to see.I had been locked up in my room for days so that I wouldn't be able to escape. Only Maggie and two other maids who got me food were allowed into the room and their time was also quite limited. Luna Melissa feared that they might try to help me escape, especially Maggie and she was right.I heard that there were guards everywhere, from right outside my room down to the Pack borders. If anyone didn't know better, they'd think I was the Pack princess with several bodyguards to keep me safe. Instead, they were there to do just
Chapter NineElsa's POVMy heart kept beating very fast as the guard approached the carriage. The footsteps I heard didn't seem to come from just one person and I thought, perhaps, there were even two guards.I was right there at the back of the carriage, exactly where they wanted to check and as soon as they took off the clothes to see the foodstuffs, they'd be met by the surprise of a human wearing a sheepish smile on her face because she knows that she's done for."Open it up," instructed the Luna Queen as soon as the men got to the carriage. "Yes ma'am.""Wait!" I heard a voice scream out from behind and I knew exactly who it was. Maggie; my friend and my guardian angel was there yet again to save me. Only this time, I didn't think it was possible. Being caught was an inevitability, but it was great knowing that she tried her hardest."Greetings to you, my Luna Queen. Greetings, Princess Alina," she began as the guards paused for a moment to hear what she had to say. "I am the on
Chapter TenElsa's POV "Elsa?" Alina screamed as soon as I turned to face her. "What the hell are you doing here? How– How did you get here?" She couldn't believe her eyes. Her maid; the one she dreaded most and did all she could to ensure that she wouldn't leave her room still found a way to do the same thing, despite all of her efforts. It must have stung her harder than a bee. Her face told the whole story. Wide eyes, widened nostrils, open mouth, sweat all over her… they all communicated the same thing; she was mad as hell and I knew she'd be that way. I just hoped it'll be after I had seen Alpha Davon and not before. "I ask again, what on Earth are you doing here, Elsa? Do I have to break your teeth and pull out your tongue before you give me the answer that I seek?" She breathed very heavily; a testament to her fury, and snared at me before turning to her right and screaming. "Guards!" I'd have given her an answer to her question. Truly, I wanted to, but I didn't know exactl
Chapter ElevenAlina's POVI was led to my room by two guards and three maids in the Pack after my encounter with that stupid Elsa. My maids walked behind me, carrying my personal stuff. I couldn't trust anyone else to carry them, even if they had nothing against me.We got to the room and the guards opened the door. The rest of us walked in and the three maids dropped what they came in with and looked to arrange them properly but there was no need for that."Don't worry about that," I said to them, waving them off. "They'll handle it from here. Thank you so much."They bowed, stepped out of the room and walked away with the guards while my maids continued with the arrangement of the bags in the room. I just lay on the bed and began to recall the encounter that I just had and it immediately got me displeased…Very displeased."I didn't know you'd come in so early, Princess Alina. That's why no one was outside waiting."That was the lame excuse that Alpha Davon gave for that shamble of
