Tyler POV
“Find her!” I snarled as I gazed upon my warrior’s limp body. His head was twisted in an unnatural angle, the room flooded with the scent of human.
The vamp was gone, and it was clear he had assistance from a human. My warrior, Shane, had been busy removing the girl from the bar. She had apparently followed us back to the motel, intent on continuing her attempt to get into someone’s bed for the night. He had linked Mark to stay with the vamp. We hadn’t been able to kill him, none of the normal methods fo
Rhazian POVI felt myself moving toward her, as if being pulled by an invisible cord, as she flitted through the kitchen jotting notes on her paper. Before I knew what I was doing, I had her pinned between my body and the counter, one hand laid on the countertop on either side of her. Her scent wafted over me, warming my body. I was giving in to the pull of the mate bond, unable to stop myself. “Rhazian.” She breathed, pressing her hand against my chest as I tilted my head toward her. I pressed myself closer to her, feeling the sparks of our connection slowly roar to life.
Taylor POVI finished my meal in stunned silence. It seemed every time I had a chance to get closer to Rhazian, I only pushed him further away. Nyx had warned me that he was a damaged and broken man, but in my hubris I had thought it would be easy to piece him back together. Sighing, I stood to clear away the excess takeout bags from the table and find somewhere to store the food. I had barely begun clearing the food away when pain ripped through my head and I fell, reaching my hand out to steady myself. My vision darkened as I tumbled to the floor, tipping the small dining table over as I collapsed. For the second time, I found myself a passenger in someone else’s body. I was standing in the middle of a densely wooded area, a petite woman before me.
“What the hell is wrong with you?” I demanded. “Don’t you care that they’re going to hurt someone I know because of you?” “The wolves won’t hurt her.” He responded, dryly, making his annoyance plain. “What do you mean they won’t hurt her? They are threatening her Rhazian! It’s my fault she’s in this mess to begin with.” I continued to scream, my panic beginning to rise. “Taylor
Rhazian POV I stomped through the woods surrounding my cabin, afraid to go too far. I suspected Taylor would still try to leave to rescue the idiot girl being held by the wolves. She seemed to believe me when she used her abilities to see that there was no danger, but it had still struck me as odd that she had conceded so readily. In the little time I had known the woman, she hadn’t seemed the type to let things go. My frustration welled inside of me, finding release as I put my fist through the nearest tree. I knew I could simply go get her friend, that would ease her mind and keep her put. The question was whether Taylor would actually stay put
Taylor smiled up at me before glancing down at the atlas on the table. Her blood had pooled in one location, obscuring the name of the town dotted on the map near the ocean. I could tell she was pleased with the results of her spell work, unaware of the potential danger she had called down upon herself. “What help are you finding exactly?” I demanded, a feeling of dread welling in my stomach. “My mother’s coven.” She replied cheerily. “My mother didn’t have many texts for me to learn from. I figured her coven would have what I need.”
TaylorI rushed from the bed, my mind lingering on the moment that had passed between Rhazian and I. He had kissed me and all I wanted was to throw myself back into the bed beside him. Someone had other plans, however, as the knocking became increasingly urgent. I shot him a look, indicating that he should stay put, just in case. He was a vampire after all, and that meant most everyone wanted him dead. “I’m coming!” I called out, hoping to appease the pounding on the door. “Mayana!” A small elderly woman gasped as I flung the door open.
RhazianThe hair on my arms stood upright as the tingling of magic washed over me. Taylor had asked me to stay hidden, but I couldn’t comply with her request. I rushed to the door and found her encircled by a small group of witches, the tingling of their magic growing stronger as they chanted and tightened in around her. I burst through the door, ripping it from its hinges as I lunged forward reaching for my mate. I had expected the impact of crashing into another body as I lunged forward. Instead, I stumbled into nothing, the witches having vanished into thin air with Taylor. I stormed back to the cabin, putting my fist through the wall in my rage. I wasn’t quite sure when things had changed, but I had given into the bond only to have her snatched from me like
Tyler POV I knew the moment I heard the vamp speak on the other end of the phone that my ploy to draw the woman who had helped him, had failed. I glanced at the irritating woman cowering on the motel bed in disgust. I needed to get rid of her as quickly as possible while ensuring she wouldn’t tell anyone what had happened. I pocketed her cellphone, intending to keep it incase her friend tried to contact her again and made my way to my own room. My mate was Fae, they had magic and I hoped hers extended to wiping memories. “What’s wrong my love?” Celeste asked as I entered our room.
