Jocelyn’s POV

“It seems it is that time of day again, princess.” Alpha Than whispered in my ear. I didn’t say a word because if I did, he wouldn’t heal me. Every day for the last five years, eleven months, and twenty-nine days, I was chained to the bedposts and whipped fifteen times on my back and legs. I was then beaten to within an inch of my life. Then he would have his way with me, then he would heal me enough that I could take it all again the next day. This was my life. I was numb to the pain. I didn’t feel anything anymore. I was a lifeless shell that had a heart of stone. Doing everything Derek had told me, and here I was, two days away from leaving this place. I was the only one that had made it this far. I stripped down and went to his bed, where he strapped me in the chains. All I could hear was the crack of the whip and the sound of my skin breaking. After the whips, I couldn’t move he placed me on the bed and fucked me whilst he stabbed me with a silver knife laced with wolfsbane. I wasn’t sure when I passed out this time.

“Josie, are you ok?” Athena whimpered in my head. I had woken up laying on my stomach this time because my back was still sore. He used his entire strength tonight. He was angry about something. I got up and looked at my body in the mirror. I counted fifty stab wounds to my chest and stomach. They had healed enough that they were now only red and slightly raised. There was a knock at the door. Shit, he was coming back for another round. The door opened, and he walked inside.

“Jocelyn, it seems that I have a very important guest coming tomorrow. Since you have never broken any of my rules or complained once. Tonight was your last night with the punishments. You will still stay here for the next two nights attending to me and my guest, then you will be allowed to stay or leave. You will always be welcome in my pack, Jocelyn. If you decide to stay instead of being a maid, I would like to make you a warrior.” He said to me. I had come to understand Alpha Than. He wasn’t a bad Alpha. His people respected him but it petrified them of him and what he would do. He was like this because this is all he knows. His father trained him to be like this. His father made him watch as his mother was raped and beaten every night. He never laid a hand on his Luna. That is why he had me and many other slaves. He told me that I was never allowed to talk to his Luna or children, but his Luna would come to me and talk. We developed a friendship after he allowed it. She couldn’t thank me enough for taking the punishment I did. They even set up an account for me with a lot of money for me for when I leave.

“You are too kind, Alpha, both you and Luna Cleo. I don’t know what I will do, Alpha. If you would allow me to take a leave of absence to take revenge on Alpha Jacob, then I think I will come back and take up your offer to become a warrior. There is one thing I would like to suggest do, Jacob, though, Alpha if it is ok?” I asked him. My voice was dead. I held no emotion. I was dead inside.

“You may ask Jocelyn.” He sounded curious.

“Might I suggest, Alpha, that I train your new slaves so they may last longer?” He looked at me with a smile.

“That is my little mockingbird. I will talk it over with Luna Cleo. I am not sure how she would feel having you around the other slaves after you were here for so long. Take a bath with the lotion in my bathroom, then come and have some food with Luna and me.” He left my room after that. I almost fall to the ground when he left. Tonight was the last night I would receive any form of punishment. I didn’t know how to feel.

“Athena, did you hear that?” I said to her.

“What are we going to do, Josie? How can we leave Luna Cleo to look after the girls? What about the new girls? If I am just an omega, then they should be able to survive as well?” Athena said back to me, Luna Cleo didn’t want us to leave. She really had become family. I know it might sound weird, but I really had grown to love her. But we needed to leave to take revenge on Alpha Jacob, that was for sure. We decided that we didn’t want to find our mate. They beat the hope of being rescued by them out of us in that first month. Even if we did find them, they wouldn’t want someone like us.

“We have to take revenge first.” I told her. If Alpha and Luna allow it, we will come back. We need to be part of Alpha Than’s personal guard if we can become strong enough.” I told her she was in agreement. Alpha had already run the bath for us. Stepping in gave me a calming effect. I reflected on the nearly six years I had been here. I was treated well if I followed the rules and didn’t act out, which is exactly what I did from the second I got here. When he first took my virtue, that was when I cried for the first time since being there. But sex became part of the daily punishment. He was never rough, always gentle, but I didn’t feel anything and I don’t think I would ever feel anything again. I didn’t want a mate. We were too broken.

After the bath, I got dressed and met the Alpha and Luna in their suite for dinner. Luna Cleo greeted me with a smile.

“My favourite girl, Josie. Please sit, honey. Alpha and I have been talking and I think you need to take your leave of absence honey, take as long as you need. You have more than earned it. We set your account up and we have a car that is yours as well. If you want to come back after that, we have set you up with a room on the floor below us, which is where you know the Beta and Gamma stay.” This was more than I ever could have hoped for. This was our life now.

“If Alpha and Luna will have us back, then I would like to come back.” I told them both, and they both looked at me with smiles on their face.

“I am a man of my word, Jocelyn. I think you know that. The first night you arrived, I told you the rules and you have never once broken them.” He looked proud when he spoke those words. We ate our dinner, I cleaned up and was about to go to my room when Luna said to me.

“Josie, honey. I would like you to stay here with me for your last two nights.” I was shocked at the offer, I looked at Alpha and he nodded his head letting me know it was ok. Alpha kissed Luna goodnight and left for his chambers, they slept in different chambers most nights but still shared the same bed a few nights a week.

“Honey, I am so sorry that you have had to go through everything you have.” Tears were falling from her eyes as she hugged me.

“It’s ok Luna. It can’t be helped.” I told her.

“Do you really want to come back?” She asked me.

“Luna, in all honesty, this is my life now. As much as Alpha Than has done to me, he has always kept his word and healed me. He was never rough. Before they sold me to Alpha Than My father stripped me of all titles. He knew who I was being sold to and didn’t care. My parents did more damage to me than Alpha ever did. The guard that worked in the cells at my old pack told me what was going to happen. He told me how to act and how to block out all the pain. The only thing that lives in my heart, Luna, is hatred for my parents and those in my pack that wronged me.” I explained to her. She looked sad.

“I am sorry that we are the cause of this. Do you want to find your mate?” She asked me.

“I don’t want a mate now Luna. I feel it would be unfair to them. I don’t feel anything anymore Luna. How would I be able to love them?”

“You must promise me something now, Josie. If you find your mate, do not reject them straight away. Give them a chance to see if they can make you feel again, honey, ok?” she told me. I was never able to say no to this lady, she was too sweet. Fate had played a real trick on her.

“I promise Luna, now we should sleep.” I told her I slept in the same bed as Luna that night. She held me like I was a baby. It was the best night's sleep I had ever had. Waking up in the morning, I felt refreshed for the first time in six years. Luna was looking at me.

“Josie honey, our guests are about to arrive and Alpha has requested that you serve morning tea to them in the office when they arrive. I have a dress for you to wear.” She explained to me. I looked at the dress that she had laid on the bed for me. It was a simple black dress fitted at the waist with long sleeves. The material was very light.

“Thank you Luna.” I had a shower this time and put the dress on. It felt amazing on my skin as I walked into the room where Luna was waiting.

“Black suites you Josie. Come here and I will set your hair. Now our guest that is coming is very important.”

“I will speak only when spoken to. I will stand by Alpha until he instructs me that I may move and will not repeat what has gone on with Alpha and me.” I replied. It was important for me not to say anything to any guests or my contract with Alpha would extend for another year and the punishments would be bad.

“Alpha says they are ready are morning tea now.” Luna instructed me.
