Aleia’s pov I dropped the phone, putting it on speaker because I couldn’t take any more of her squealing. It was beginning to hurt my ear. When she was done with her drama, she finally cared enough to ask me. “Did you hear me? I am getting married! Oh this is so exciting!” she said Oh I bet! Couldn’t wait to sink your claws in another man. “Yay! I am so happy for you” I said mustering fake enthusiasm in my voice to get her off my back. “You will come, won’t you?” she asked me “Oh no! I am sorry honey but I would be very busy” I told her. I didn’t want to attend her stupid wedding, it would be another attempt to hassle me about why I wasn’t married and all that nonsense that I wasn’t ready for. They would gang up on me and start asking me a bunch of questions making me uncomfortable and filled with regret for accepting the invitation in the first place. I always felt like crap whenever the whole ceremony was over and I had to go home alone like they predicted. “No, I
Theo’s pov Nobody paid me any attention as I walked through the hallways of the company, not that I expected them to. If it was any other company, people would stare if you were walking through the hallway whistling like I was but over here, we were a sophisticated bunch. I was on my way to the CEO's office for my latest promotion on a job well done. You see, I just completed a project for the company that brought in a lot of profit and more clients for us. I worked so hard in the last six months to make sure I got the chance to be in charge of the project and when I did, I worked even harder to make sure my team and I gave it our best. Looks like it paid off seeing as I was a few steps away from getting my dream position, I pushed the door to a lounge set up outside for our ceo. It felt like I was waiting inside the principal’s office which I was called in a lot during my time in high school. The secretary looked up from behind her desk, her face paling slightly when she saw
Theo’s pov We went to the club later that night. Turns out Henry is a cool guy and he has not changed that much since high school, we still argued over the littlest things like we used to do, it was fun. I haven’t talked about losing my job since we got here and I wasn’t sure I wanted to because I didn’t want to bum everyone out, I was having the time of my life. I drank one shot after the other, enjoying the way it kept me buzzing. Gage has tried so many times to get me to talk but I wasn’t having it tonight, I was having fun and I didn’t want it to stop now. “Hey man, you wanted to tell me something. What is it?” gage asked It was at the tip of my tongue to tell him that I lost my job but I didn’t want his pity. He was the type of friend that jumped to action immediately when given a problem to tackle and I knew he would do that when I told him. “Later” I told him. He nodded at me, turning to talk to Henry, both of them shaking their heads and laughing at something Henr
Theo's POV We left the club shortly after a while. I took a cab to my place with Gage because he didn't want to sleep in his house tonight. I am pretty sure he couldn't remember the address because of how wasted he was. He was slurring his words and that was more than enough takeaway to know that he was really drunk. Henry left to his own place with a promise to call the next day, I took gage home to mine. I dropped him on the couch because I didn't have the strength to take him up to the guest bedroom, he weighs a ton not that he would admit it. I trudged upstairs to my own room and without removing my clothes, I jumped straight to bed. My dreams were filled with thoughts of a sensual woman like the lady I saw in the club. It was her in my dream but this time she was dancing for me. Just for my eyes, teasing me and calling out to me like a siren. I was like a dog in heat, I sniffed her hair then her neck, and I trailed my tongue on the column of her neck to the curve of
Aleia's POV I was packed today with work, I had a series of meetings to attend and I wasn’t even sure I could go to all of them. Luckily for me, my assistant has stepped up and she is more competent than ever. I like her better now. I came into work at my usual time and there she was in her seat, all prepped and ready to work. It made me remember the conversation we had the other day after I gave her my advice. I was in my office clearing off some reports when I heard a knock on my door, I wasn't expecting anybody. And my assistant should have called to let me know if I had a visitor. "Come in!" I called out to whoever it was. The door opened and my assistant came in looking all kinds of timid, I wondered why she was looking that way. I thought we were past her being scared of me. "Trina? What are you doing?" I asked her. She twisted her fingers which showed signs of her being nervous and all of that but I didn't pay attention to that. I was annoyed at the interruption
Aleia's POV I concentrated on the rest of my work, smiling to myself slightly for making Trina happy. It was the one thing I wished for when I started out. But that didn't happen but I still made it and hearing what Trina said made me realize that I was a role model to some of these young ones and I didn't even know it. I think my next project after the real estate thing is to venture into a female empowerment program for young girls who are interested in making it out there in the business world. It was hard for me when I started, I met some terrible people and if I wasn't cynical, I would have gotten into some serious trouble. But it was all over and I was right where I wanted to be. Happy and successful, just the way it is meant to be. It was nice to see the smile on her face today that made me realize that I have been taking my position for granted. I was so focused on being successful that I forgot about others that needed assistance too. I was going to start up a pr
Aleia's POV I got to my house a little late after stopping by the Chinese place to get dinner. I was really hungry and dealing with Diane only fueled my appetite. I locked my door and headed upstairs to my room. I loved living alone. I could always walk around naked and it wouldn't bother anyone. I removed my clothes before I got to the bedroom and danced around naked a little. I felt free. I wore my bathrobe and headed down to eat my dinner, heating it up quickly in the microwave. I sat down in front of the TV to eat it when it was done. It was quite good. I washed my plates and took out the trash. I loved how clean and spotless my kitchen was, my whole house was clean and white just the way I liked it. I headed back upstairs to take a shower. On second thought, maybe a bath would be better. I have had a long day and a good soak in water could be all I need. I went into the bathroom to prepare my bath, I lit the scented candles and the scented bath salts. I prepared myse
Theo's pov For a while now, I have been doing nothing but sitting around and sending the money I should be saving. It was fun at first but now life is getting real. I lay in my bed holding the business card in my hand, it was beautiful and modern but not too shabby. I bit my bottom lip and turned the card over to find a telephone number. I dialed the number and waited patiently to pick it up. It rings and I hear Henry's voice on the other line. "Hello," he said. I panicked and hung up immediately. What was I thinking? I couldn't do this, I had bills piling up and I still couldn't do it. How the hell was I going to pay my bills? I had to pay for my house, car and other bills I haven't paid. I was in what most people call a rut. I thought I could do it but I just couldn't at all. Gage has tried so many times to convince me but I was as stubborn as a mule. I refuse to go there. I would be going out with strangers for money? That doesn't sound like me at all. I though
