Finding Out For Himself

“Are you okay?” Richard noticed something off about Bella on their walk back to the castle.

At first, he thought he was misreading the atmosphere but when he realized how quiet she had been for a while now, his mind told him that something was wrong.

Bella managed a smile. “I’m fine. I’m only a little tired.”

Hearing that, Richard took her hands and squeezed them through the thick winter gloves. “Let’s take the carriage home then.”

Minutes later, they arrived at the castle holding hands. “You know you can talk to me about anything and everything, right? I hate to see you bothered.”

“Your company rubs me off all my troubles,” Bella said. How on earth could she tell him that she was beginning to doubt him and everything they shared?

It would only be proof of how fickle her love for him was. It would be an indirect message to Richard that she was comparing what she had with Gerald with what she had with him.

No man will be happy about that, but for Richard who loves her so much,
