Chapter 2: First day on Field

"How is that okay with you guys?" I scoff as I take a gown off the rack to inspect it more.

"Tell me something, Felishia. What's the age gap between you and Anthony?"

I glare at her when I realize the direction the conversation is heading "It's not the -

The sound of her taunting laughter cuts me off "Answer the question"

"Nine" I answer lowly. Yeah I’m 28 years old and my husband Anthony  is 37 Most people doesn’t deem our age gap proper but I’d to marry him. It was the least I could do... “Like I said it's not the same"

"Because we are women? It's okay for older men to like younger girls, some of them even like minors! But when an older woman likes a legal younger man, that likes her back!" The emphasis in that sentence is obvious "It's suddenly the world's biggest taboo"

"That's not what I meant" I clarify

"And do tell, what do you mean, please? You know, for someone who claims to be a devout feminist you don't sound like one right now"

I roll my eyes at her "You're blowing this whole thing out of proportion"

"Oh? I'm not the one judging my friends and every older woman out there for being in love with a younger man!"

"I'm not judging. I just think it's weird... strange" I add

"Because we're women. I've always known you always acted weird about mine and the girls’ partner preferences" I exhale when she makes a hint at our other friends

"Look, I'm sorry I didn't mean it that way. I respect You, Silvia and Linda and I'll try to get over whatever feelings or thoughts I may have about your age preference in men" I explain genuinely

"Oh, no. Judge all you want, I don't give a fuck. Add yourself to the list of people in society that think like you or worse. Doesn't bother me." she smiles at me "But don't knock it till you try it, love. You can never know" Daniella smirks and walks off to another aisle.

Does she mean I should cheat on my husband with some underage brat?! Pfff! Would rather cheat on Anthony with a very old man.

***

I run my hand slowly across my skirt while looking in the mirror. Today was my first day at work in crescent, my excitement cannot be contained.

I glance at the empty bed and notice that Anthony's side is rough. That means he spent the night in his home last night. Good to know that my head didn't just conjure him to satiate my overthinking mind.

I add final touches to my hair and then make my way to my car.

After several minutes, I arrive at the school just in time. Baylor college    is one of the Top notch  colleges  here in Texas so you could imagine how spacious it could be. It took me ages to locate the staffs admin  department  where  The sport director

introduce  me to my assigned crowd, the footballers.

"Good morning, Mrs. Felisha. I'm Mr. David Letterman" the  middle  aged  man introduced himself to me with a smile and stretched his hands towards me.

I shake him and smile "Nice to meet you, sir"

"Shall we begin?" I nod my reply "Come with me please"

We leave the office and I followed his lead.  I was feeling both excited and nervous. Excited: that I’d finally be teaching my passion— football has always been my passion. And I was nervous because I’ll be of course meeting new people. A lot of them and boys for that matter.

We pass a row of lockers on both sides and then take a left turn to see classrooms and then a big black door at the end of the hall.

"These are the classrooms, but you won't be spending time here so I'm just going to take you to your area of expertise, and then show you any other important places" He smiles at me and resumes our walk forward "Oh, yes! Before I forget that way to your left you'll find the staffs restroom"

We walk further down and he shows me the guy’s gym and locker rooms before we get to the door and go out. The feeling of the sun hits my face and I smile at the warm reaction. There are bleachers on the left and right side of me with maybe two or three students sitting on them.

We get on the field and Mr. David assembles the players. They were all possibly between the range of 20-25 years old but with their muscles and psychics they all looked like mid early 30s.

I really felt so intimated by their breed and didn’t pay attention as Mr. David was introducing me to the students but I pulled myself together as soon as he was done. These lads may look fierce but I’m still their superior.

“I'll leave you to it, Mrs. Felishia. I have a meeting very soon. Please stop by my office later and tell me how your first day went, if you can." The sport director concluded with a warm smile before leaving.

I smile and nod "Thank you, sir"

Turning to the guys, I rose my chin up high "As you've heard from your sport director  I'm now your new -" My speech is cut off by rambunctious laughter and loud speaking. I turn to the cause of the noise and I'm met with three guys  walking to the field.

"Chop chop, princes! We don't have all day" I exclaim irritatedly at them, my arms folded to my chest as I maintained a stern look.

The noise from them instantly went down as their eyes moved in sync towards my direction. I was able to get a glimpse of the scowling faces they pulled at the sight of me, then my gaze rested on the the tallest one among the three boys. With his outstanding demeanor, it was inevitable not to be drawn to him.

He look more rugged than the two other boys with him. His mid-night black hair was pointing everywhere, some falling over left eyes. He's a few rings at his exposed eye lid and ears. Infact every modest instructor  will definitely rebuke his bad-boy appearance, but If I'll be honest, he looks so dangerously handsome. It took my will-power to retrieve my gaze from him.

While the two other guys  jog to join the rest of their members on the field, he scoffed flashing me a condescending look before joining the team. He didn't jog like the friends, he walked down levelly like a proud king.

My brows furrowed on it own as I felt so disrespected but I didn't want to cause a fuss on my first day. So

I shook my head and resume "As I was saying before I was rudely interrupt-

"And who the hell are you supposed to be from Adam?" The rude guy scoffed as soon as he assumed his position before  the team. His face was void of any humor but disdain.

I felt my nails dig in my palm, maybe to calm my sudden bubbling rage. "Your coach." My lips pressed together giving off a mocking smile.

his jaw clench at the revelation and it gives me an unexpected satisfaction  "What's your name?"

"Guess you weren't employed to know my name miss coach"

His corner lips curved to a smirk as if to spite me but I manage a smile because I expected his kinds of be cocky.

"Sebastian Collins" one of the guys beside him said nudging him as if to caution him. "That's his name" the guy clarified.

"Good. Sebastian, I'm Mrs. Felishia Smith and I'll appreciate it if you and your... buddies don't show up late or interrupt me when I speak. Am I clear?" That sounded stern enough

He scoffs and swiped his tongue through his lower lip, revealing his tongue ring. I almost got tempted to fall for the sexiness he emits by doing that.

I chuckles "That attitude will get you nowhere except being kicked out of the team"

I turns back to face everyone, “As for the rest of you, get on the field and show me what you got. Formation and everything. Who's the captain?"

I'm not surprised when a couple of hands point to Sebastian, just like I thought.

Half of the team were already on the field when I turn to Sebastian "Gotta impress me if you wanna keep that spot" I beamed with a genuine smile that was meant for encouragement  but the guy maintained a cold, stoic expression.

As the whistle went off, every player sprawled in the field and began running in the field like Ants on the hunt for food.

While I watched every other guys, my ultermost focus was on Sebastian. No I am not being partial but he just fascinated me with his exceptional moves, his flexibility, his agility on field. The way he easily scored Three goals and two penalties made me realized Why he is captain of the football team. I'll definitely give him that crown all over again.

I couldn't just contain my big smile As I watched him. At a point, I couldn't decipher if I was still just impressed with his skills anymore or his looks.

I can't deny how a perfect work of art the guy is.  His defined back glistened with sweat and the way his arms moved every time he ran or how he slicked his hair back with his hands from time to time, mesmerized me to keep watching him.

I shake my head to get rid of the thoughts and focus on the tax at hand.  My football team.

Once the time was up, I clap my hands and beckon them forward onto the sidelines where I'm standing "Good job team!" I clap and they cheer with joy "Y'all are good but there's always room for improvement and I'm here to help with that. But for now, you can all hit the showers. We'll continue tomorrow"

They cheer happily and began to disperse. With them panting and sweating, it was obvious  They are all exhausted  from all the running and shouting under the sun. Relaxation is needed "Sebastian, wait behind"

I turn to face his retreating and I notice how his posture changes to one of anger, maybe irritation, I don't know.

"I'll see you guys there." He tells his friends before walking to me "What do you want?"

His tone was ice cold.

"First of all, I'd like that attitude to get lost anytime you're in my presence. But that aside, I wanted to tell you that you were really good out there"

"Do you always state the obvious?!” he did an arrogant scoff and then swirled his tongue down his lower lips.

'Fucking stop doing that boy'My heart  thudded.

"I- I uh..." I trail off while stuttering

"Goodbye, Mrs. Smith" he smirked. With the mocking look on his face obviously my suppressed drooling was vivid to him.  I felt so embarrassed that I couldn't stop him when he walked out on me. His hand dug in his pocket, proclaiming his arrogance.

Looks like I have a lot of work to do.
