Xavier
I sent Lucas, my second-in-command to find Jackie. If Vera finds her before I do or before the lawyer does, it’s not going to end very well. Over the years, I’ve studied Vera to know the things she’s capable of doing.Jackie is what some people call first love. A very long time ago, Derek as a teenager fell in love with Jackie, but due to social differences, his family frowned upon it. Vera was introduced into his life and he was forced to marry her.Three years after, Derek ran into Jackie again and they started again. Angela is the product of that affair. She got pregnant and Derek’s parents swore to pin her with a crime and send her to jail if she doesn’t sign the child over to Derek under full custody without no visitation rights. She did as she was told out of fear and disappeared after that. Nobody saw or heard anything about her again until her name was mentioned in Derek’s will a few days ago.I know the question of how I have such personal information about Derek will ring in your heads. I’ll tell you. Derek was a very good friend. More like a very close friend. He has been in my life for the past twenty years, and I’ve been in his way longer than that, but I kept my distance from him and his family, so my enemy will not become their enemy. But I guess all that doesn’t matter anymore. I’m married to his daughter per his request and the enmity in his family is capable of wiping them all off.My phone vibrated in the compartment and I clicked on the blue tooth attached to my ear. “Ellmord.”“Bossman.” Lucas's voice filled my ears. “I’m sorry to bother you, but we’re having a problem with the shipment coming in from China. The customs are insisting on searching our containers.”Shit. I have tons of cocaine in those containers. “Give Theodore a call, ask him what’s going on. Tell him that I’m curious as to why his men are insisting on searching my containers.”“I’ve called him several times boss, but he’s not answering my calls.”Pathetic son of a bitch. He doesn’t get to behave like this when I pay him generously. “If he isn’t answering your calls, then pay him a visit.”“Yes, boss.”“Lucas?” He kept quiet, paying close attention to me. “When I say visit him, I do not mean a friendly visit. He needs to know that he can’t just wake up and decide not to answer your calls.”“Yes, boss.” He breathed audibly. “Am I allowed to say something boss?”Lucas was the first guy I employed to work for me. He has been with me from the onset. “Since when do you ask for my permission before saying whatever that is going on in your head?”He chuckled deeply. “It’s regarding the Shirley family. Do you have to get involved with them? I know Derek pleaded with you to get married to his daughter so your name can protect them when he’s gone, but that family is fucked up boss man, you don’t have to play their games with them.”“I got five hotels from them because I chose to play this game with them.”Lucas snorted. “You and I know you don’t need those hotels or money.” He barked orders at someone in the background. “Why can’t you just stay married to Natasha and leave it at that? We need you here boss.”Turning off the car, I got down and walked into Shirley’s manor. “Don’t be dramatic Lucas, I’ll be only gone for a week.” I noticed that Natasha’s car is not in the garage. “I have my reason for being here and I don’t know what gave you guys the impression that I do not need those hotels.”“You’re there for Angela right?” I chose to ignore his question. “It’s all over the news that she returned home for the funeral. If you are so attracted to her, why didn’t you just get married to her instead?”“I am not answerable to you Lucas. Do well to remember that. I’ll be back in the next two days,” hopefully it will be enough to get her out of here…out of this city. “Until then, try not to whine about missing me.”“I said nothing about missing you.” He grumbled. “If anything, I think you miss my black ass more than I miss your white ass.”“You’re being a racist right now Lucas.” I jested. Walking into the house, I noticed how quiet everywhere is. At least it was quiet until I heard a glass crash upstairs. “I have to go Lucas. I need an update on Theodore and my shipment.”“Sure thing boss. I’ll speak to you after I visit his place.” I disconnected the call. When the glass crashed again, I slowly made my way up the stairs. The noise led me to Angela’s room. When she crashed yet another glass, I twisted her doorknob, opened the door, and let myself in.Seated on the floor, at the foot of her bed, Angela looks like someone who was just delivered from a demon that possessed her. The cause of the noise lay in pieces at the other end of the room.I approached her carefully. “Angela?” She stiffened at the mention of her name. “Are you okay?” It seems Derek’s death hit her harder than I expected.“I don’t want it.” She cried, shaking her head vehemently. “I don’t want it! I don’t deserve it!”“You don’t want what?” Settling down beside her, I pried her fingers off her face. “What don’t you want?” Her lips quivered. “What do you think you don’t deserve?”“S.H fashion. I don’t want it…I don’t deserve it.” She stared at me with pain-filled eyes. “I’m giving it to Natasha. She can have it.”AngelaI’m in dilemma on what to do. I can’t handle the company; I can’t bring Mckenzie here, it’ll destroy Natasha’s marriage and my family will be so disappointed in me. Why did he even leave that company to me? If anything, it makes me feel more guilty. After abandoning him…after disappearing without any word…it pains me that even when I was being selfish, when I wasn’t thinking about him, he always thought me about me.The thought alone clamped my stomach, leaving a bitter taste in my throat. The vodka bottle in my hand did nothing to lessen the pain I’m feeling. I glared at it, blaming the alcohol for not doing its job. It was supposed to help me forget!I threw it across the room, smashing it on the wall.“Angela?” I stiffened at his voice. When did he enter my room? Am I that drunk? “Are you okay?”Am I okay? I’m not okay! I’m not fucking okay! The pain is making me go crazy. “I don’t want it.” That’s the only way I can ease this guilt and the only way I can return to my daughte
XavierI knew something was wrong the moment I opened my eyes. The unfamiliar silence for no good reason hinted at something to me. Reaching forward, I felt the side of her bed, only to feel this coldness that tells me she has been out of bed for some time now.Rubbing fuzziness from my eyes, I sat up and took in the disheveled state of the room. Do I regret last night? Absolutely not. I knew it was going to happen eventually, the attraction and tension between us were just insane.Rolling off the bed, I picked up my shirt and buttoned it it up before walking out of the room. I instructed one of the maids roaming around to clean her room since the owner is nowhere to be found.Needing to shower, my course of direction changed to my bedroom. I walked in on Natasha answering a call. She disconnected the call instantly when she saw, her glare angry. “Where did you spend the night?”Not in the mood for her drama, I ambled straight to the bathroom. “Where do you think I slept?”“I do not kn
XavierAngela left. I never thought I’d miss her this way, but then she just left without a goodbye. Do I even have the right to be angry after all I’ve done? I’m married to one sister and attracted to the other.Derek made me promise him that I’ll always keep his family safe, but with the look of things, his youngest daughter needs protection from her own family. That day Angela left was the very day I returned to my estate in New York. Natasha pleaded we spend another night with her mother, but I just couldn’t bear staying in that house anymore.Angela was the reason I came over in the first place, and now that she’s no longer here, I have no business there.I’ve been processing my divorce with Natasha; I do not have to stay married to her just to protect Angela. From now onwards, I’ll protect her as Xavier Ellmord…. Just like Xavier, the world out there knows, and I’ll make sure that company remains her’s until she’s ready to take over.Call it obsession, I don’t care, not one thing
XavierPhilippine isn’t somewhere I planned on visiting any time this year, but the news of Angela’s three years old daughter made me jump into my jet. That was how I found myself here, staring at pictures of a little girl who is likely to be mine. With valid consideration, this is the reason why she never wanted to return again, and this is also the reason why she refused to stay back in New York to take care of her father’s company.Puffing smoke into the air, I closed the window and returned to the sofa. This particular woman has been glaring at me from her balcony for smoking in a non smoking hotel. But who gives a fuck? Definitely not me. I have bigger fish to fry than a hotel’s pitiable policy. How could she do this? Hide my child from me? Keep me away from my daughter? How cruel is that? The most painful part is that she does not have plan of introducing me to my child any time soon.My phone buzzed beside me. Staring at the screen, I contemplated not answering the phone w
AngelaMy eyes must be definitely deceiving me. Xavier? What the hell is he doing here? Groaning loudly, I slammed the laptop shut. There is no way I’m going to concentrate with the thought of Xavier in my head. Having him here means one thing, and that’s relocating, or maybe hiding Mckenzie from him until he’s done with whatever that brought him here.I’m in dilemma, and only Daniel can get me out of it. Shoving my stuffs into my bag, I rounded up for the day. Mrs Jackson, My boss looked up from her laptop when I walked into her office.“Ma’am, I’m not feeling too fine, so I’ll be leaving early today.”She retuned to her gaze to her laptop. “Are you done with your designs from Toronto?”“Yes ma’am.” I’ve handled more tasking designs in my father’s company than this. “I’ll be in early tomorrow to start up a new one, that way we’ll have enough for the show.”She waved me off. “You can go.” Just as I stepped out towards the door, her question stopped me. “Did we get any more spons
Angela It’s official. I’m a coward. I’ve not being to work for the past three days. Yes, I called in sick because I couldn’t take in the fact that I might see Xavier again or possibly run into him on my way to work. Yes. I know Philippine is a big place, and Cavite city is also big, which makes the chances of running into Xavier thin, but it’s Xavier Ellmord that we’re talking about here; he makes coincidences possible. Daniel being the most considerate friend is making facing Xavier easier for me. He bought me an engagement and wedding ring, also making one available for himself. But somehow, I do not think this ring will be able to keep Xavier away. After all, his ring did not keep him away. Standing before the floor length mirror, I tried fixing my curls. Not even in the mood to look good, I face palmed myself and heaved into my palms. My door opened and McKenzie ran in, her lips forming a pout. “Mummy!” Turning towards her, I squatted down to her level. “Daniel chowolate had.
XavierHer face when she noticed my presence in the board room isn’t something I’m going to forget in a hurry. I’m not above using the manipulation strategy. Sly was useful in finding the information I needed. All I told him to do is find the flaws of Angela and he told me that she’s too dedicated to her work, then I sent him to find the flaws of the company she works for. That was how I came to know that the company is in need of sponsors for their upcoming fashion week.I have the money to spare, as long as it will give me enough opportunities to spend time alone with Angela. When she told me that she’s married, I was tempted to kidnap her and lock her up in my hotel room until she signs her divorce papers but then I decided against it.Lucas combed every necessary source, but none tells him that she’s legally married to anyone, which can only mean one thing. She’s trying to push me away using a fake marriage as an excuse, but what she doesn’t know is that a tiny signature on a p
AngelaInsisting that Daniel is my husband was a futile effort. Xavier isn’t stupid, I do not know why I expected him to buy that crap. Staring at the wedding ring wrapped round my finger, I sighed exasperatedly. Another dollar wasted. When he brought up Mckenzie, I almost shit myself.“I know you’re not married to that clown called Daniel and I know that you do have a daughter.” Leaning forward, he placed both elbows on the table. “What I’m yet to figure out is who that little girl belongs to.”“What?” I whispered, trying not to let my shock and fear show. “My daughter isn’t your business, stay away from her.” My warning does not even sound stern to my own ears, how then do I expect him to take me serious?“Why are you suddenly defensive?” He picked up his glass and twirled the content. “Isn’t Daniel the father? You’re supposed husband.”Unable to sit and listen to him. I grabbed my stuffs and slowly stood to my feet. “I don’t care to know the reason why you’re here, but I want you t
