"Jessica Mehra," and hundreds of cameras were on me to capture my every moment.
No!
Not at all!
I am not going to tolerate these people who are flashing their cameras at me.
What do they even believe in themselves?
I glanced at the right side and then at the left. I can quickly run from here to save myself from this utter absurdity.
I clutched my lehnga and took a depth breath, "Don't you dare!"
How did he know?
What made him realise that I was going to gallop away from here.
"Stay where you are and smile, "
His stringent tone was enough to make me startle that I have no choice left but to hide.
Now, everyone will ask me absurd questions!
"And walk peacefully, like a lady,"
What does he mean by walking peacefully like a lady? am I not woman enough? Or I look like a man.
"Fine dad," I muttered under my breath while hiding glances from him.
Outside weather was calming and refreshing, and I am stuck here.I should be bicycling near the mountains and writing something in my diary alone with my thoughts, but look at me now. I am stuck; stuck where I don't want to be.
"Come and greet the guests," he asked me to accompany him.
Why does my dad have to greet the guests? Who are they to be greeted? Aren't they appeased enough that they are here to celebrate the function? Then why there is a need to greet them?
"Oh, Dr Sharma, how are you?"
A bald uncle was standing right beside me when I was engrossed in staring at the coloured walls which were empty before.
"Dr Mehra, I have been very engaged in the previous week with my clients,"
Yes, my father is a doctor, he is a surgeon and most of the crowd here belongs to the elite class of professionals.
"Yes. The time has been very quipped due to certain factors of weather but I must say it's an excellent opportunity to outshine as doctors!"
And then he chuckled.
I don't find it funny, and why would I? It's all rubbish!
However, Dr Sharma was not convinced with me so he joined him in a race to win against him in the chuckling process.
My father is a very determined man who believes that no one can beat him, no one can win any race against him. He considers himself second next to god.
Before Dr Sharma asks me anything, I slid away from there, but I was not advantageous enough to run faster and in the end, I lost control by falling to the ground.
Okay, enough is enough I need to storm out now from here otherwise aspects will not be in my hands.
Hundreds of eyes were on me, I was the centre of attraction once again just like I was when I was ten years old.
Some were greedy, some were passionate, some were angry, some were cold, but most of them were lost.
I attempted to regain my balance but couldn't until I found a man staring at me straight into my eyes.
I could see the hint of snickering in his eyes and a fragile smirk on his face.
He took a step forward, maybe he is going to give me his hand to stand up.
But oh dear, I am Jessica Mehra, I don't need a man's hand to stand on my own!
I gathered all the courage and straighten up the lehenga from where it was clasped around my legs then I finally arose the dead figure on the floor to a standing woman.
"Everyone please continue your celebration," I blurted out while walking away outside to hide or to run away from here.
"Jessica dear, "
Just when I was in the process to pretend that I don't exist for the world, my dad stopped me in the middle.
What now?
What evacuated to say anything?
"What?"
"First of all, don't make ridiculous facial manifestations, I don't want you to disrespect me, so do as I say, I want you to meet someone,"
"This isn't my engagement dad, why are you dragging me from here to there?"
Why don't he drag my elder sister! Oh, why would he drag her, she is after all his dearest.
She must be getting prepared somewhere to shine on her biggest day after being a scientist, she must be planning to go to another planet.
"Do as I say," his widened eyes and his aura was enough to notify me that I have to do what he was saying, otherwise I have no idea what is going to occur in the future.
He is my father after all.
I grinned too much, my face was hurting from these actions. My lips must be catching the scrutiny of everyone.
They must have never seen a girl with such a wide grin on her face.
My heart was speaking all the time to go outside and run into the fields, to run on the lavish greens, to picture the sky in a beautiful frame and turn the world upside down in my vision.
These people were not noticing the world the way I was glimpsing at it, they cannot hear the rhythm in the wind as it was directly speaking to my soul, they were not able to build colours on the blank paper, they were not able to discern the pavements with several ways to hide.
They are missing out on the bold things of life.
"Behave adequately, I know you can do it for your father,"
Oh yes o would even give you my heart, my lungs if you need it in any case but I cannot give you my brain, I know you would not need it, not in any condition.
And dad there is no need to stare into my eyes for too long when you know I can not regulate it for some unexpected reasons.
"Don't make any faces, don't show that you want to run from here!"
I am already pretending enough, what is left now? And to whom does he want me to meet?
"Mr Kapoor, what a pleasant surprise, I was searching for you,"
A man with a mission in his eyes was conversing with a man who was more determined to rule over the world.
"Dr Mehra, I was occupied with a very important call, you know how significant it is for us to take the right action at the right time. "
Why? Why is he functioning like a machine man?
What does he do?
"Meet my daughter, Jessica," dad wanted me to meet him?
And why would he want me to meet him?
"Jessica, Mr Kapoor is the greatest scientist of our generation."
What should I do with it? What do I do if he is a great scientist of our generation?
No, particularly what should I expect to do in this circumstance?
"Greet him!" I heard mumbling under his breath, and it wasn't tough for me to guess what he was wanting me to do.
I bowed a little and greeted him by pressing hands together, touching my palms and fingers pointing upwards.
"Namaste,"
He grinned, laughed a little then shook his head.
A man in his late twenties interrupted us before Mr Kapoor could return my greeting.
Doesn't he have any appropriateness?
"Oh, Dr Mehra Meet my son, Abhimaan Kapoor,"
He greeted my father and then connected his eyes to me.
Dark, pale eyes were bored to me. He was not at all inquisitive to be here in this situation.
I could sense from it just by his way of addressing it.
He should have greeted me by the way, after the eye connection, or at least I am the only one who is engulfed in their small group.
I cleared my throat too, but he didn't even glance in my direction furthermore!
This is direct disrespect to me, I do not want to be here, at least not after getting offended by a man.
I took a step back but my father clutched my arm, "He is an engineer, "
So what if he is an engineer? I think I am the only soul here who doesn't belong to any of this fraternity
"And she is my daughter, Jessica,"
Before I could do anything paa and Mr Kapoor left because they had to do more important things than this lifeless introduction.
Paa left because he received a Call from maa while Mr Kapoor left. After all, he was a busy man.
Finally, an epitomise opportunity came in my life to leave this place.
"Excuse me, give this to the couple, I have more important things to do rather than attending this rubbish function,"
No one can outrage my family!
"What do you think of yourself?" I stared hard at him.
Who the hell is he?
And why does he even exist in this world?
"An Engineer, of course,"
Before I could offend him, he opened his mouth again,
"And what do you do?"the smirk was vibrant on his face. his eyes were penetrated me and the aura around him was filled with conceit as he is the ruler of the world, the atmosphere only belongs to him.
