Chapter 3

She walked to the balcony to move away from her children.

“I’m at dinner with my friends.”

“Which friends?”

Mona licked her lips. “You don’t know them.”

“I want to see you in twenty minutes.”

“What’s the matter? I wanted to…”

Mona actually wanted to stay home to accompany the kids.

The man lost his patience. He added a hint of anger in his tone when he said, “I’ve signed the papers. Come and get them.”

“Oh, okay. I’ll be there soon.”

There was no excuse for her not to be there now. She hung up the phone and returned to her room to get changed.

Bobby knew his mother had dressed for an outing. She even had a beautiful red dress on.

The boy squinted and said, “Mommy, are you going out?”

“Yes, baby. I’m going to a gathering. I’ll be back later. The babysitter will be here soon.”

“Will you be home to tuck us in?” Millie asked with a longing gaze.

Mona was aware of her kids’ gaze and did not have the heart to disappoint them.

“I will. Be good, Millie.”

It would not take long. It was just to get the divorce papers from Thaddeus, after all.

She went to put on her shoes.

Bobby then put the present his mother received from Flora’s father into her purse before handing it to her. “Mommy, you need to smell good to get a boyfriend.”

Mona was not aware of the boy’s action. She knocked the boy’s head lightly and said, “Why do you always want me to get a boyfriend?”

Bobby waved at her. “Go on. Take care, come home early if possible, and don’t let the bad guys kidnap you.”

“I got it.”

Mona felt odd. She was the adult, but her son was the one acting like a worrisome parent.

It was as though she was the daughter and he was the father.

When she reached Gold Coast, Thaddeus’s mansion remained well-lit.

She was usually the one waiting for the man to come home. The three-story house was mostly empty. If not for her presence, she could not feel the slightest warmth in the spacious mansion.

She opened the door and went inside.

Thaddeus was reading a book on the couch. A few buttons on his black shirt were unbuttoned, showing off his sexy collarbone. He was a man with features that could arouse a woman’s deepest desire, making women easily fall for him.

She put her purse down and sat down beside the man.

“I’m home, Mr. Fontaine.”

Thaddeus sneaked a glance at her voluptuous figure. He wrapped his arm around her waist and held her onto his lap.

Mona squealed out of surprise.

“Who are you trying to seduce with this dress?”

His fingers caressed her crimson lips as he gazed deeply at her, void of any obvious emotions.

Mona’s watery eyes looked innocent. “I actually wore this for you.”

The man’s thin lips curled into a wicked grin. His palms moved around her slender waist.

Mona avoided his touch and pushed him by the shoulder.

“I’m sweaty and haven’t taken a shower yet.”

Her words killed the man’s arousing desire, and his grin reverted back to his frosty expression.

Mona got up and pulled down her tight dress.

Thaddeus’s eyes narrowed as he watched her adjust her dress frivolously. Then, he hugged her by the waist.

“Go take a bath.”

Mona was stunned. She knew exactly what the man wanted to do.

“But I don’t want to do it tonight. Since we’re getting divorced, I want to move out to get used to life without you.”

Astonishment flashed across the man’s eyes. This was the first time she had ever rejected his request.

“Fine.”

He mercilessly got up from the couch and headed to the stairs with his hands pocketed.

“What is this?”

When Mona turned around to the man’s voice, she saw him holding the present she got from Flora’s dad.

“A present from a friend.”

Thaddeus elegantly toyed with the delicate box and asked frivolously, “May I have a look?”

“Sure.”

Mona assumed it was perfume or something similar, a common gift for girls. She already had a set of excuses in mind, ready to fire at him.

However, she was wrong!

The linen box held not a perfume but a shiny diamond ring!

Thaddeus was disheartened. He tossed the box into the trash and grunted coldly, “Garbage.”

Mona was stunned, but she could not care less about the box or the ring inside. Her priority was to calm the man down.

She quickly followed him up into the room.

The man entered the bathroom and took off his clothes in front of her.

His sexy body was on full display for her.

Mona gulped nervously. She started to suspect that the man was trying to seduce her with his body.

All she could feel when she walked in was a frosty chill running down her spine.

She hugged him from behind with her hands cupped around his slender waist.

“Thaddeus, are you taking a cold shower? Be careful not to catch a cold.”

Thaddeus’s muscles tightened as the words entered his ears. He turned around and lifted her up on the sink.

They were so close to each other that their breaths became one. The atmosphere got steamy as their skin touched.

He moved his thin lips to her ears and asked in a deep voice, “Who did you give your first time to?”
