Bernadette
Her chance had finally come! Everything had fallen into place perfectly for her to take matters into her own hands. She had been angry that Anson had brought that five year old human child into the pack like she was one of them. He had added insult to injury by showing her the affection that Bernadette craved.
But he had given it to a child! He had completely ignored her need to be adored, despite her throwing herself at him many times over the years in the hope that he would show her such devotion, but every single time he had cast her aside and shown so much love to a human girl! She hated that little brat!
Now, after twelve years, everything aligned perfectly for her to fix the mistake he has made so long ago. When he comes back from his business trip, she would have sorted out the problem and he wouldn’t be able to do anything about it.
One of her lovers turned out to be the second in command at the elite school. Wood Creek Academy was both a high value school and completely elite in the pupils chosen to go there. She had managed to convince her lover to slip in the application with several letters of acknowledgement towards the little brat’s value to the school. It was a good thing she was generally a highly ambitious pupil.
They had accepted her without hesitation, despite the fact that she’s human, and she was thrilled! It’s rumored that the Bane Pack has several of their future leaders in that school. They are supposedly one of the most dangerous and ruthless packs and apparently rule that school in their own right. If the little brat survived that school, she would have perfectly good qualifications to move on without the pack. But just to be sure; she was setting a few more steps into action, so she would know she’s not welcome to come back.
As it was, Mister Benson has informed her that one of the students had gone into his grading program and changed some marks while he was gone. He had informed her as soon as he had found that out, but he had also insisted that the only marks changed were for one Ilene Johnson.
So, as the Luna, she had to take action against the students involved in the absence of the alpha. Since Ilene had informed Mr. Benson that the little brat was her alibi; she asked to see them both. Anson was currently away on business and Calum was away on training and studying to be the next alpha. This was the best chance she had to get rid of the little brat, since the two males seemed enamored with her.
Bernadette rolled her eyes at the thought, tapping her nails impatiently on the desk while she waited for Ilene and the little brat to show up after she summoned them to her office. Hearing them approach, she made a show of being quite busy with work. In reality she had hired an omega to be her assistant, which meant she had very little to do most days, aside from signing some paperwork that her assistant needed her signature on.
The knock came a moment later and she called them to enter, feigning working on her laptop to make them sweat a little. “Have a seat; I will be with you shortly.” She answered mock absently.
She wanted them to wait for her decision on their fate. Obediently, the two teenagers took a seat in front of her desk and she waited another few moments before she turned her attention to them.
She could instantly see Ilene was the guilty party, since she was fidgeting like mad and the look of fear was in her eyes while she glanced around her. Bernadette had to hide her smile. She was the perfect little she-wolf to take under her wing; she just had to work on her poker face.
On the other hand, the brat had her face schooled in a carefully maintained calm expression that drove Bernadette to distraction. She hated how the little bitch just didn’t look frazzled in her presence at all. She wanted her to squirm, to be intimidated by her power in the pack, but there was nothing.
“Mister Benson told me that someone had logged into his system and changed marks for this semester.” She started coolly and Ilene was looking more and more like a hunted animal, while the little brat seemed completely unaffected.
“Care to explain to me why that is?” She asked with a raised eyebrow.
“I was failing his math class and I can’t redo his class, Luna. I was terrified of failing and having to do the year over because of math class, so –“ Ilene burst into a hurried explanation and then cut herself off a moment before she seemed to make a sinister plan according to her expression. “So, Ember logged into his system and changed my marks for me! I didn’t know she was going to do that when I complained to her!” She added an obvious lie at the end.
Bernadette was amused to see the look of surprise and betrayal on Ember’s face. When she glanced at Ilene after her explanation; a scowl slowly took over her pretty face when she realized she had just been thrown under the bus. She hated that the little brat was pretty enough to draw the attention of several males in the pack, despite being a filthy human.
Bernadette hummed calmly, trying to contain her glee at Ilene giving her the ammunition she had been looking for to start up the process. She had been looking for just something like this.
“That –“
“That is entirely enough; thank you.” Bernadette interrupted the little brat. “Since you have decided to disrespect our pack rules so blatantly, I have decided to throw you out of the pack.” She answered curtly.
Both girls stared at her with mouths agape at the severity of her decision. But, Bernadette continued before they could recover from their shock, knowing that she had to make the consequences clear and decisive.
“But, considering that this pack is all you know, I have taken pity on you and enrolled you on scholarship into Wood Creek Academy, where you would have the chance to redeem yourself. You will not be permitted to return to the pack after your schooling, so I suggest you start planning for your future while you are there. You have the rest of the afternoon to pack your things, since they will send a car to pick you up early in the morning.”
“But –“ The little brat tried to protest.
“I don’t want to hear it! You’ve shown your lack of respect and appreciation to this pack and I will not allow that level of disrespect when we have been nothing but kind to you; considering that you are not even a wolf. You are dismissed.” She interrupted her again with a note of finality.
The little brat glared at Ilene for a moment before she stood from the chair and left the office. Bernadette hoped she would slam the door to prove that she had finally ruffled her feathers, but she just quietly left the room and closed the door quietly. Bernadette bristled at the fact that she just couldn’t get under the little bitch’s skin; not even when she exiled her.
But she turned her eyes to Ilene that seemed completely shocked and horrified. “Now, I have discussed your situation with Mister Benson and he had agreed to allow you to retake the last test in hopes that you can remedy your marks and hopefully pass this time.”
In truth, she wanted to thank her for giving her the means to get rid of the bane of her existence for the last dozen years, but she decided against it. She would play her cards close to her chest.
“I hope that in future you would come to me with any problems you might have. I see myself in you, Ilene, and I want you to succeed. I will gladly mentor you if you are willing to do the work.” Bernadette gave her a kind smile.
She would be the perfect little puppet if she could convince her son to mate with this little she-wolf. She would be so easily controlled and she wanted to keep her close and hold the pack in her hands a little longer. She had no doubt that Anson would be angry at her for what she had just done. But if she could have some control when her son took over, she would be content.
EmberShe had resigned herself to packing as much as she could when she left the Luna’s office. She knew the woman didn’t like her, but these were extreme consequences for something she hadn’t even done.Good thing she had started making a point of recording all their interactions after that one time when she was twelve and she had slapped her for no reason. She had been hesitating to use all the evidence she had had, since Alpha Anson still showed her respect despite them not living like a married couple. But now, she thought it was time to make sure Alpha Anson knew exactly who his Luna was. But first, she needed to pack her things; since she had no doubt that Luna Bernadette would get rid of every single thing she left behind. The evidence would keep until she had found her feet, but she was about to blow up quite a few things in this pack. Not that Ember had all that much; she had always been conscious of the fact that she was an intruder in this pack. Some of the pack member
EmberThe three hour drive in the car, she spent reading through the package that had been on the back seat of the car with her name on. It had the school rules, expectations and her classes all included. She was expected to wear a uniform and she would also get extra credits for handing work in early. When the car finally came to a stop in front of what appeared to be a large apartment building on campus, she glanced at the name of the apartment building and realized this would be her home while she was here.Taking out the key from the welcoming package, the driver quietly assisted her with carrying all her belongings up to the third floor. And once she unlocked the door, he abandoned his load just inside the door and disappeared without a word.Ember stared at the place around her. It was set up almost like a small studio apartment. She had a small kitchenette with a fridge and a small countertop stove and oven and a
Alpha AnsonHe had spent the better part of his three week trip following up on leads for the murder of Ember’s father. That was not to say that he did not do business for the pack as well. But the case had gone cold and dead in the eyes of the authorities and he was not about to let Tyler’s death go unpunished.Whoever had killed him had stolen childhood memories from Ember and a lifetime of happiness and experiences. Tyler deserved justice and Ember deserved answers. He was exhausted, but he had found a few more leads to work with. From what he could find, it seemed that his death was either a struggle for power within the Hunters, or it was because Tyler had protected his baby girl. From the pictures of the crime scene, he was leaning towards a combination of them both. There would be no point in killing Tyler for the title if his heiress was alive and could easily take over leading the hunters. But what
EmberAfter a week with everyone giving her a wide berth since she sprayed Paisley with the silver solution, she was all but ignored. No one wanted to anger her enough to get sprayed as well. In fact, nothing came of the matter, since Paisley had no foot to stand on.She could walk through the corridors and hear the gossip from the other wolves. Something about the Bane Pack members coming back from their latest suspension. From what she understood, they would regularly be suspended for one thing or the other. She hoped she wouldn’t draw their attention as well; the last thing she wanted was to get into another altercation. She had started bringing her laptop to school now that it would be safe, so she could type notes in class and even used it during her lunch period. She had had some of the wolves hesitantly approaching her for the typed notes from a class they missed or didn’t do well in and she made a tiny inco
BernadetteShe was angry…no, she wasn’t angry, she was enraged. That bastard had actually taken her Luna title, exiled her from the pack and divorced her in one go. Then he had the audacity to tell her that he had promised her father that he would care for her and he would keep his word. She was sitting in his supposed care, after tiring herself out from screaming her anger to the world. His care was a sensible car, a stupidly small and sensibly furnished two bedroom apartment filled with groceries in a secure building and one suitcase with her clothes and shoes. What was she supposed to do with that? She didn’t even know how to cook! He had told her that her salary as a Luna had been untouched because she had been spending the pack’s money, so he would not give her a monthly allowance as well. He said something about smart investments would give her a tidy sum to live off. Yes, the apartment a
Ashton BaneHe was annoyed with how things had worked out. He had been sure that they had had enough evidence to get that teacher blacklisted with the information they had gleaned from the she-wolves male gym teacher the previous semester. They wanted him out of the school, but his father insisted that they needed as much as they could if they wanted to completely blacklist and prosecute him. If they did it right, he could be put to death for his crimes.Their pack had a bad reputation, but no one knew that they had been contracted by the werewolf king to work as an undercover agency to protect the werewolf realm as a whole. They were widely known as a dangerous and delinquent pack for the simple reason that the king hid their true purpose for a reason. The king had created their connection after his little sister had disappeared from the kingdom without a trace. She was still missing and no one could find any information on what ha
EmberShe felt nervous and unsettled working on this with them hanging around her place like they were. She was not used to anyone being in her personal space while she was working; she’d always sort of been left to her own devices, until Alpha Anson had finished his work and could spend time with her and Calum. She felt crowded with them there. It also felt like someone was playing high tension music in the background while the third guy was scratching around in her kitchen. She had a particular order her things had to be in before she could focus on what she was doing and he was just scratching around like he was the lord of chaos! She now knew the guy that had threatened her was Ash, but she still didn’t know the other two. She made a point of leaving her camera and sound recording while they were there, but she’d help them find out if the teacher was involved in a kidnapping ring. She was just going to cover he
Alpha AnsonThe more he went through the Luna’s files the angrier he got. Bernadette had tried to bleed the pack dry, no wonder she had never used her Luna salary. She’d cut the budget for household, kitchen and the gardens. Then he found out that she had used thirty percent of that money to pay the salary of the omega she had doing her work for her. The rest, it seemed, was spent on spa days, shopping, day trips and generally living the high life.He was livid, realizing what he had put his pack through by keeping her there for the sake of some stability. He had corrected the budget cuts, so the broken items could be replaced. It was then that he realized that Ember’s tinkering had kept things running smoothly. If he hadn’t stripped her title the moment he realized what Bernadette had done, her underhanded dealings would have come out eventually, but probably much later and with so much more damage to
