》》Jason Dutton《《
"Check mate."
My opponent's eyes widened. She looked desperately across the board for a move to change my words. But when she found none she sighed and knocked over her king.
I smiled in satisfaction at another effortless victory meaning another successful plan for tomorrow night.
I gave her a handshake and rose from my seat as the man on stage announced, "Our district winner, Jason Dutton!"
I walked to the man who stood at the entrance and gave him a handshake. "Congrats, do send my greetings to your father."
"Will do," I promised with a smile.
I walked away saying under my breath, "Will do when I see that man in hell."
The game of chess is not just any old board game but it is also the game of life. You can be represented as the king, all the others are the people around you. Check mate means game over in the game but check mate in real life means your life has come to an end...
Those were my father's words, the greatest chess player of all time. Too many victories to count, only 3 draws and no losses.
If you were born to a father like that you would be proud to have him as a father but I'm not. Despite all his achievements in the chess world he has none in my life...
I walked all the way to my apartment building, greeting fellow neighbourhood members and friends on the way.
I closed my apartment door behind me and let myself collapse on the couch.
I heard the door open then close followed by a familiar voice.
"You back. I got us some beers."
I sat up and looked up at Jack Viking. My best...scratch that, my brother from another mother.
The strongest fighter around, who knows everyone which contributes to his ability to find high quality equipment at the best price.
He handed me a beer and I gladly accepted it.
"Oh and I got some bad news," Jack said.
I looked up at him as I took a sip of my beer.
"We won't be able to do that jewellery store tomorrow night cause they closed it for renovations."
"Great," I sighed.
"But I was thinking how about the bank, down by kings avenue. It's quite a distance from our base which gives us plenty of time to get the cops off our tail and the vault's alarm is damaged and they're only getting it fixed in two days time. My good man Wesley works there as a guard and can help us inside," he explained.
I thought about it for a moment, thinking of the possibilities. Finally I concluded saying, "Call everyone else for a meeting at base in ten minutes. Tomorrow at three o'clock we strike."
I walked into the basement of the mansion and there stood my crew. We don't really have a name but I relate them to my chess pieces though we did lose three humble soldiers a year back and we dropped to 12 pieces. Well, since I recently hired Calvin we're at 13, but that doesn't mean we are less of a team. We just have fewer but stronger pieces on the board.
My front line soldiers:
Felix
PhantomSkyeSeanSarahMandyFelix and Phantom, my two speedsters, faster than flash himself when it comes to getting the job done.
Sky and Sean, my thinkers on their feet. Have excellent aim with any type of heavy machine and use the best techniques to ensure the job is done effectively.
Sarah and Mandy, bad girls. They are the vixens, there to seduce and enchant anyone in their way. Two beautiful ladies who know how to take out anyone.
Then we have our main powerful soldiers, the most important:
Sandy
TylerMaster MindCalvinJackRoxySandy, my sneaky snake, she is able to get past anything in her way, be it security systems, guards or just a plain old fence.
Tyler, our getaway driver. She knows every street, every building, and every landmark in the city.
Master Mind, our hacker. He can crack any password, code, security system, you name it. He can crack it with no effort needed.
Calvin, the youngest in our crew. He is just a high schooler who wants to do something to make himself feel useful. He is the most innocent looking and is used as bait.
Down to my two most trustworthy pals.
You've met Jack. We've been best friends for 17 years and we just considered ourselves brothers.
Last but not least and definitely the most annoying is...
"Hey bro!!" exclaimed Roxy.
Roxanne Dutton my annoying younger sister. But since I have no girlfriend or wife and never will. She is my queen. She is beautiful, smart, daring and is just an expert in all aspects of crime.
I stood at the table in the center of the the basement where everyone else was gathered.
"Right. I called you all here to tell ya the heist for tomorrow night is off but, I got a new target in mind," I announced.
Jack turned off the lights and switched on a hologram of the city. I zoomed in on the bank.
"This is our target. The alarm is broken so it won't be much of a problem. At three o'clock tomorrow the chief of police is meeting with the mayor way over here. That is when we strike.
"We will have to be quick, in and out. Felix, Phantom, Sarah and Mandy, you guys will sneak in through the back with Sandy in charge at 14:55 with the help of a guy, his name's Wesley. Get all the cash you can, don't touch the gold it'll be too heavy. Y'all will have to work quickly cause at 15:05 we all gotta be out and far away.
"Three o'clock on the dot, Jack, Roxy, Sky and Sean will come in with me through the front and make it seem like an armed robbery is about to take place when actually the real robbery is taking place in the back.
"Tyler will be waiting outside with the get away car for us and Calvin will be waiting at the back for y'all with a sweet ride. And you guys will just glide past and make your way here as if you weren't the crooks while we lead the police down to the west side of town.
"Do we have a plan?" I finished.
I looked around for any faces of confusion but only saw looks confidence. I smirked in satisfaction.
"Good. Tomorrow at two o'clock meet here to get disguises and equipment."
Once they all left I remained with Jack and Roxy.
"How was your tournament?" I heard my sister ask.
"I made it to provincial," I sulked.
"Congrats. Dad would be happy," she smiled sitting on the table.
"I think we all know he wants nothing to do with him," I heard Jack tell her as I took a look at all the weapons which lay on shelves which went across the wall.
"So which gun you wanna carry with you during our grand entrance at the bank? Cause I know you pretty fussy," I asked looking at the machine gun in front of me.
"Not until you tell us when you getting a girlfriend."
I heard him laugh as he approached me. He lay his hand on my shoulder and I puffed in anger and his laughing ceased.
He stood beside me and looked at the range of guns before us. He walked up room cautiously analysing each and every gun until he came to halt.
"Aha!" he smiled. "Come to papa!" He picked up a heavy bolter. My eyes widened at his choice but after thinking about it for a moment, I found it pretty normal from one as extra as himself.
"So Jason, tell us. Where's our queen?" he asked again.
"You're not getting one."
"But why? As far as I remember you don't have a love life."
"Cause I actually take Bob Marley's advice, no woman no cry."
"Well, you gotta at least get into bed with someone."
"Trust me Jack, my brother doesn't have hormones. I've tried," Roxy said from where she was sitting.
Jack put his weapon down before asking, "Why are you the one trying, you two are siblings by blood right?"
I picked up a gun as they chatted away. I scanned it and checked how comfortable I was holding it.
Some of these weapons I don't even know how to use. Jack was part of the army at a time in his life so he knows most of these weapons and taught me how to use them.
I came out of my own little zone when I heard my name. I put down the pistol in my hand and answered, "I'm listening."
I went to a button on the wall and pressed it so the shelves would be hidden behind a garage door and a hologram of a wall.
"Tell me, why is your sister trying to seduce you?"
"I don't know, maybe she's been in bed with every guy in the city and wants to take on me. Or she just doesn't have a life. I don't know," I stated.
Roxy needs help. She is not right in the head at all. She has tried seducing five times in two weeks. It's not that she desperately wants to lose her virginity, she's been there and done that. She just needs professional psychological help.
~~~~~~~~~
I looked at the watch on my wrist for the time.
14:59
"Lets get this show started," Jack sighed opening the door before stepping out of the van.
I put on my black face mask and got out of the van then opened the door for Roxy. She stepped out and wrapped her arm around mine.
Skye and Sean lead us into the bank, machine gun in hand. Followed by Jack with his heavy bolter.
We walked inside. Skye and Sean fired shots at the ceiling as Jack yelled, "Alright! Everyone on the ground!! Don't move! If you call the cops, I blow your head off!"
Skye and Sean went around collecting everyone's cells while Jack kept an eye on everyone. Roxy and I made our way to the manager.
Roxy pulled out her automatic pistol and shot the telephone on the manager's desk. I pulled out my gun and pointed it at his head.
"Please don't kill me!" he begged fearfully.
"Give us the keys to the vault," I ordered.
"I don't have it..."
"Liar!"
"I swear..."
"I'll blow your head off in three..."
"I swear!"
"Two!"
"I don't..."
"One!" I yelled loading the gun.
"Here!! Take it!!" he screamed throwing keys at us.
I caught them and walked out as Roxy shot his legs.
I threw the keys at Jack who went to open the vault and take a bag of cash left for us by the others.
Leaving the vault opened we made our exit.
Just as we got into the car the police arrived.
Sky and Sean opened windows and used machine guns to shoot at the police. This would ensure that they followed us and not anyone else leaving the bank.
Tyler switched on the radio to hear the conversation going on between the police.
I need backup. They're going down south west towards the fourth exit.
Just as we approached the exit there was a blockade being formed by police.
Tyler took a sharp right into William street. Breaking the speed limit she sped down the quiet street.
She passed an intersection causing police cars to collide into one another. She took a sharp left into a secret passage before the bridge.
We lost them.
And those words meant success.
》》Jason Dutton《《 "Cheers!" Our heist was a great success and since it's our anniversary tomorrow I allowed them to celebrate. I smiled I watched my crew... no, actually... my friends celebrate and enjoy themselves. They had music playing, dancing, drinking and all the other crazy stuff that would take place in a party. They deserved it. I went upstairs to the study as usual. I sat at my seat and put my feet up. I wasn't a party horse. I found no use in it. Yes, it was a way to relax with friends and have fun but what's the point if everything will go back to normal tomorrow? Why only have fun at a party and not just whenever you get the chance? Call me boring but it's who I am. I can't change it. Well, I once was a party horse but that was until the day pure hatred flowed throughout my veins for the first time. The first ti
》》Jason Dutton《《 It's been two weeks after my father was hospitalised and Roxy and I haven't been the best of siblings. We hardly see each other even though we live in the same apartment, she leaves early in the morning and returns late at night. Sometimes she doesn't return at all. When we see each other we argue, she didn't take part in her favourite heist, ATM bombing, and she doesn't talk to me or annoy me like before. I was in the kitchen making breakfast when Roxy walked in. "Good morning," I greeted. She ignored me and put her keys on the shelf. She took off her coat and sighed. "Where were you?" She ignored me again and was about to head for her room when I stood in her way. "I was out Jason," she said before trying to go past me. I stood in front of her again, "That ain'
》》Jason Dutton《《 I put the weight down and grabbed my towel. "You go to the gym to create this beautiful body but you don't even bother showing it off. What's wrong with you?" Roxy complemented. "I'm heading for a quick shower," I told her, ignoring her comment. After the shower Roxy and I headed home arguing on the way. "No! That's not how it works dumbass!" she exclaimed. "Ok, smartass you tell me how it works!" "Look, if want to make the perfect lasagne you should never overcook the lasagne sheets, you're not even supposed to cook it just soak it until it's soft. Simple." "And what if I do?" "Well, you just gonna have a mush!" I rolled my eyes as we made our way into the apartment building. I opened the door for her then followed inside. "So what time we leav
》》Jason Dutton《《 I arrived at the mansion and walked inside. I went to the dining room where everyone was gathered. I dropped the jetpack on the floor asking, "How we doing?" "Awesome! Check it!" Calvin exclaimed. He opened the two briefcases on the table to reveal stacks of cash inside. I took out a stash and looked through the notes. "Nice work," I smiled. "So, how much you want?" "Well, I just want enough to keep me surviving for the month not too much or..." I interrupted him handing him a large stash of money. "Don't mention it kid." He looked at me in astonishment. "Remember, if you stick with me, I'll make you rich. I don't leave my brothers and sisters in the rubble, if I go up, you coming up with me." "Thanks boss," Calvin smiled. "Enjoy yourself, life's short," I smiled. I closed the suitcase and took it up to the study. I put the s
》》Jason Dutton《《 I opened the door for Roxy then followed her inside. Daniel had been discharged from hospital and Roxy dragged me along to visit him. She said before jumping to conclusions about him we had to hear both sides of the story. "Hi dad," Roxy greeted. Daniel turned around with a glass of whiskey in his hand. "Oh, hello princess," he greeted hugging his daughter. "I'm so glad you're alright," she sighed. Finally he noticed me. His facial expression changed as he whispered loudly enough for me to hear him. "What is he doing here?" "Dad, you two are never gonna be broken apart becuase the blood you two share will always hold you two together." He sighed. We sat down. "What brings the both of you here?" "Dad, we're here to make things right," Roxy stated.
》》Jason Dutton《《I moved my rook three blocks to the right, finalising my victory."Check mate."My opponent knocked over his king in disappointment and gave me a handshake. The disapproval was written all over his face as he got up and left but he knew there was no point in disapproving, my victory was final. There was no way he could change it. It wasn't his fault I was so good at winning.This is fun."We have our finalists! Jason Dutton and Adrian Markham! The final shall commence straight after the 20 minute break."I walked out the hall, rushing to the tuckshop. If there was one thing I loved more than my family, it was doughnuts. Glazed, sprinkled with cinnamon or those tiny multi-coloured ones we loved at children, frosted or cream filled, I loved them all.I bought two and sat by myself to eat and enjoy myself without having
》》Jason Dutton《《I walked back inside after relaxing in the balcony and just watching children run up and down the streets throwing snowballs at each other. I often found relaxation from watching children enjoy their childhood. Seeing as how mine was cut short, it's my little way of being a child again. Back when life was fun.I watched as a girl turned around to have a snowball thrown in her face. The culprit let out an evil laugh along with fellow neighbourhood friends. She ran after the culprit, hitting him on the back.This reminded me of the days I spent bullying my sister with all my pranks while Jack died laughingby my side. She was such a snitch though, she could never handle a joke. We were forever fighting though, our mother got so irritated with us.Good days...I had a date with Adrian tonight, I decided to go insode to start getting ready. I went inside
》》Jason Dutton《《 I woke up finding myself in the study with my feet up. I got on my feet with my lower back aching. I stretched with a groan. I went to my room to check on Adrian. I knocked on the door. I heard no answer so I knocked again. No answer once again. I walked inside to see her still fast asleep diagonally across my bed. I smiled and walked up to her. I picked up the clock and set an alarm for a minute from then. I put it down and waited. A moment later the alarm went off. She jolted up at the sound of the trumpet sound bursting throughout the room. I cracked into laughter seeing her reaction. She stopped it and jumped out of bed hitting my back. "What the hell?!" "I'm sorry, but that was hilarious," I laughed. She glanced at the time and gasped, "Oh shit. I have to go
