Chapter 33: Welcome

Adrian didn't speak a word further to me, not even when we arrived at the Wrath kingdom. Guess I had lost his interest now that I was feeling more myself. His arms were still tightly around me.

I just ended my book when the castle of Wrath appeared in front of us. A huge, black castle stood in front of me. The building was even higher than Adrian's. But it missed the greenery around it, and instead the ground looked dead and dry. No animals were scattering about, except for the bats flying around the building. It looked all very depressing. We walked on, about halfway to the castle.

A bell sounded far away and the bats all turned in our direction. With a screech, they flew with speed right towards us and I saw my life flash before my eyes. I grabbed the saddle in front of me with one hand and put my weight back, into the solid presence of Adrian. His hands tightened on the reins, but otherwise he didn't respond.
