Chapter 10: Bet

Without uttering another word, without providing any further explanation, I leaned back, taking my wrist with me. Samael appeared perplexed and bewildered, gazing down at his hand with furrowed brows.

As the crowd erupted in cheers for three new demons about to engage in combat, Sam shook his head slightly and turned his attention forward, away from me.

"So," I interjected, recapturing his focus, "Who's going to win?"

I folded my hands in my lap, shielding my throbbing wrist from any more attacks. My gaze remained fixed on the three demons entering the fighting ring, confident that my question would divert Samael's attention.

"Of these three?" Samael asked, not saying anything about our little moment. "Fuck, they all look pathetic."

"Choose one. Let's make a bet," I half-commanded, my eyes still fixed on the three demons preparing themselves with murderous glances at each other. I could sense Samael stealing a sidelong glance at me. "What are we betting on?" He asked.
