The sun is obscured as the clouds shift and the beautiful sky turns gloomy. I stand with Caddie and Chad under the big willow tree as the rain starts to cascade upon us.
As the last speech is being said by Laylas parents, I wipe the lone tear that glides down my flush cheeks. My heart breaks for them. I know what it is like to have someone ripped out of your life at the hands of another.
Ice begins to crystallize in my veins.
A mother should never have to bury her sweet, sweet princess.
The casket begins to drop into the pit, people gather around the gravesite, placing their red roses on top as they whisper their final goodbyes.
Today is Laylas funeral.
Yesterday was Maddies.
I'm still trying to come to terms that they're gone. I look over at Chad. Caddie has her arms wrapped around him like fire bands as his body trembles.

CHAD May 22nd 2018 The loud crackling sound of fire echoes in my ears as burning phantom pains lick my skin. CADDIE May 22nd 2018 I raise my eyes to the dark sea, strewn with flecks of light. The view is stunning, as the full moon stands high in the sky, illuminating the neighbourhood.
