Admiring Him Secretly

At a large hospital, Renata ran as hard as she could towards the surgeon's room. When he got there, it turned out that his mentor, Doctor Bastian, was already in the room with three of Renata's friends.

"Se-good morning!" Renata exclaimed in shock when all eyes were on her.

Bastian seemed to take a deep breath. It's been one week since they did Koas here.

"You all wait outside first," said Bastian, who was nodded by the three people. They left, leaving only Renata and Bastian alone.

"Doctor, I'm sorry."

"I didn't ask you to talk!" Bastian exclaimed sharply.

Bastian looked at the watch that was wrapped around his wrist.

"15 minutes!" Bastian exclaimed. "If in these 15 minutes there is an emergency patient that you have to save immediately, how about that? Are you going to ignore it and make the patient critical and even die?"

"I'm sorry," Renata muttered, lowering her head.

"Kid, you seriously want to be a doctor?" asked Bastian, making Renata glance at him.

"My name is Renata," he muttered.

"I didn't ask your name; quickly answer my question."

"I have studied medicine for 6 years and am also a specialist. And that's not a short time. I went through all of that because I seriously wanted to become a doctor," Renata answered, bowing her head.

"Time is the life of a doctor," said Bastian. "Just one minute late can be fatal for the patient. If you seriously want to become a doctor, the main thing is to study on time!" exclaimed Bastian. "It's even better if you come earlier."

Renata didn't answer and just lowered her head.

"Once again, you are late; you will be removed from my guidance list. You just look for another mentor; I don't need a Koas kid who isn't serious and just playing around," Bastian exclaimed, his face so serious and a cold aura spreading around him.

Usually, Bastian is always friendly and smiles a lot, especially when examining patients. At this time, Renata really felt scared and uncomfortable with the frightening aura emanating from him.

"Doctor-" Renata cried when she heard Bastian's story just now. He looked into Bastian's eyes with a sad look.

"If you still want me to be your mentor, then don't be late for even a second!" Bastian exclaimed.

"I promise. In the future, I will try not to be late," muttered Renata, bowing her head.

"I don't need your promises. Just prove your words!" Bastian exclaimed, making Renata silent.

"Now you don't need to take part in conducting patient examinations," Bastian exclaimed, surprising Renata. "You clean up all those files."

Renata looked at the pile of papers on the table, and there were so many of them. Maybe about 100 sheets.

"Enter that data into each patient's medical record number in the archives."

"But-"

"Want to add more punishment?"

"No, no. I will do it," said Renata.

"Good."

Bastian then walked out of the room, leaving Renata alone.

"Jesus," she complained. "Totally unlucky."

An hour passed, and Renata was exhausted because she had to get up and down the bench and look for the patient's medical record number to put the file in her file.

"Only 2 more, finally," he muttered as he walked to find his file by looking at the date and medical record number.

"On top again." Renata took a stool and put it away. He climbed up the bench intending to take the file stored on the top shelf, and it was quite high.

His hand reached up to take the file, but it didn't reach it.

"Why am I so short?" he grumbled. "Even after using the bench, I still can't reach it."

Renata stood on tiptoe and took the file with all her might.

"Eh, ah!" Renata lost her balance and almost fell from the bench, but strong hands managed to hold her body.

Renata collided with someone in front of him. Those jet-sharp eyes, which always managed to anesthetize him and make him curious I am curious to know what is hidden in that gaze.

For a long time, Renata was in the arms of the man in front of her with locked eyes.

"Brat, have you always been this careless?" The man exclaimed, awakening Renata's fixation.

"Uh, do-doctor Bastian."

Bastian put Renata down. Renata immediately straightened her hair and clothes to get rid of her nervousness. His heart was beating very fast.

"How many more?" asked Bastian.

"Two more!" Renata shouted, taking the two files, who then showed them to Bastian.

"The file is at the very top of both?" asked Bastian.

"Yes Doc."

Bastian took the two files without even using a stool.

"Here!" Bastian exclaimed, handing it over to Renata.

"Thank you, Doctor." Renata also put the files into the folder.

"Doc."

Bastian put it back where it belonged.

"Follow me," said Bastian, and Renata followed him.

Renata walked behind Bastian; she kept staring at Bastian's muscular back and imagining what happened a few minutes ago. He was so shocked that he felt his entire body heating up.

Dug

Renata touched her forehead as she bumped into something hard. He didn't know Bastian had stopped and made him crash into his muscular back. Bastian turned to look at her.

"Is your brow okay?" asked Bastian, making Renata look at him. And once again, their eyes met.

"Yes, I'm fine," Renata replied.

"Don't daydream while walking. You heard what I said, didn't you?"

Eh, that—" Renata could only show his grin.

Ah, really, this kid. You intend to study, no?"

"I mean, Doc," Renata exclaimed excitedly again.

"I said get ready to go into the operating room. I have surgery in 15 minutes!" Bastian exclaimed.

"Okay Doc."

Bastian has passed away, leaving Renata alone.

***

Currently, Renata is in the operating room with her four fellow interns. They were standing in a corner, all taking notes on what the Doctor did while operating on the patient.

It's been 2 hours, and the operation is not finished. According to the doctor during the briefing earlier, the operation would take quite a long time and could take 3 to 4 hours.

Renata and her three colleagues took turns sitting and standing to pay attention to the Doctor's activities. Renata had yawned several times, and she felt drowsiness, which was really hard for her to control.

"Don't fall asleep; you'll be punished again," whispered Novita.

"Gosh, my eyes are really heavy to open," complained Renata.

"Stop chatting and pay attention!" Doctor Bastian exclaimed, making Renata and Novita silent.

"Operation for the liver in children under five requires maximum precision and caution, lest there be bleeding because it can be fatal," Bastian exclaimed, making Renata and Novita look at the large screen that was mounted on a high wall. There are pictures of the internal organs that Doctor Bastian is stitching during the operation.

---

"Ah, what's wrong with my eyes? I'm so sleepy!" Renata exclaimed, sitting in the hospital garden, enjoying the coffee she bought. It was late, and he had missed his lunch because of the operation earlier.

"Eat, it's not lunch yet," shouted someone handing Renata a sandwich.

Renata saw her best friend, Novita, who now took a seat beside her while eating the sliced bread.

"Thanks. Aren't you eating rice with the others?" Renata asked about opening the bread package.

"I don't want to eat rice anymore," answered Novita. "By the way, your brother-in-law is back."

"Yeah, they left this morning. That's why I overslept," Renata replied. "By the way, Doctor Bastian, why does his attitude sometimes change?"

Change? What do you mean?" asked Nova.

"Sometimes it's kind, sometimes it's really fierce," Renata exclaimed, making Novita chuckle.

But I still like it, right?" teased Novita.

"What the heck?" Renata exclaimed, embarrassed.

"Just admit it again. I know how you like him," exclaimed Novita.

Renata could only smile while stuffing bread into her mouth.
