NARAH’S POV

Alpha Van and I walked slowly back to the mansion, the crisp night air tinged with the scent of pine and damp earth. Each time his hand brushed against mine, my heart thumped loudly, sending soft smiles dancing on my lips, even as an awkward silence enveloped us.

It felt heavy, laden with everything left unsaid, as if he hadn’t ventured into the woods to find me because he had feelings for me.

As we entered the living room, the warmth of the fire from the fireplace crackled, contrasting with the chill outside. We spotted Bryan and Kacy; Bryan's eyes lit up at our arrival, but then quickly darkened with sadness and remorse.

A storm of thoughts seemed to linger beneath his surface, leaving me wondering what was happening in his mind.

I excused myself and climbed the stairs, the creak of the wooden door to my room echoing my restlessness. Back in my room, sleep eluded me.

I turned and tossed in my bed, thinking of everything that had happened and that which hadn't happened ye

I knew he only said that to piss me off.His words felt like a slap. I stared at him, hurt and rage colliding within me. “So you’re choosing her over me?” “You know that's not what this is about,” he replied.I looked at him, his beautiful honey eyes piercing into mine as the ultimatum hung in the air like a storm cloud, dark and oppressive and ready to unleash a heavy rain on me. The basement felt suffocating. I couldn't shake the bitterness twisting inside of me. Sharon was everything I wasn’t—innocent, beautiful with a perfect body, and f**king naive. She didn’t deserve Liam; she was tearing us apart. How couldn't he see that?“I hope you understand what I said. ALPHA VAN’S POV I was glad my brother had finally settled down with someone he loved. Though Sharon might not be his fated mate, I had never seen him care for anyone as much. He truly loved her. Speaking of love, Narah’s gaze sparkled in the afternoon light, drawing my attention like a magnet. Each time I stole a glance at her, I found her gaze was not on me and my heart sank a little more; the entire time, her eyes were fixed on Sharon and Liam, laughter dancing between them. A fleeting thought crossed my mind—what if she longed for a mate of her own? If that was the case, I’d lay my heart bare for her, ready to be whatever she needed and let her do whatever she pleased with me; I was all hers. I imagined her touch, her smile brightening my world. Once I dealt with Anakiyus and the witch’s problem today, I’d take the divorce papers to Gina and finally reveal my feelings for Narah. My eyes swept through the garden, taking in the beautiful, vibrant colours of flowers and the

LIORA'S POV “What do you mean he's not here?” “He's out of the house, he's not inside. That's what I mean,” I explained sarcastically to Grandma Bessie, the owner of the building where we lived. Anakiyus, Keenan and Nas had left for their usual meetings and Grandma Bessie had come today to collect her balance for the rent. Sometimes, I thought that Anakiyus was avoiding her on purpose. “Two weeks, he has two weeks to pay up,” she said, raising the index and middle finger of her right hand like a warning. “Two weeks. That's all.” Before Grandma Bessie brought up the rent, she had talked about how she started from the bottom to the top in the days of her youth. Now I was already tired of standing on the porch, listening to her prattle on about her two grandsons and how she hoped I’d date one of them. The minute she left, I skidded happily back into the house, and as I walked down the corridor, I halted. I was all alone. Whenever Anakiyus and the others left for the evening, I usu

ALPHA VAN’S POV I turned to look at Bryan, the gun trembling in his hand as it pointed at the witch's forehead. Jeremiah stood tall beside him, arms crossed, a smirk on his face. Rachael’s eyes were wide, her dagger still pressed tightly against the witch's throat. Liora. That was her name. Fear radiated from her, and I could see her breath quicken. Bryan hesitated. What was going on in his head? I thought he didn't want her dead. The room smelled of fear and sweat. “A gun?” Jeremiah asked, raising an eyebrow, not completely surprised. “I didn't know you had that.” “Well, there are a lot of things I have that you don’t know about, big brother.” Bryan’s voice was low, a new edge to it. That was the first time he’d ever addressed Jeremiah that way. I could sense the tension rolling off him; he was on the brink, but I was sure he wouldn’t pull that trigger. “He's going to pull the trigger,” Jeremiah said, turning to Anakiyus. Anakiyus’s expression shifted from concern to panic

NARAH'S POV “I'm sorry that I couldn't get here earlier,” I said to Liora, glancing at the blood smeared across the living room floor and feeling remorseful that I was unable to contact her before the hunt. She stared at the blood, allowing herself a moment to think. I wondered what went through her mind. If only I had managed to contact her before the hunt… Could I have prevented this? Alpha Van and the others had already left, and it took us several agonising minutes to return here. We had been hiding in the woods, away from Bryan and Axton, my heart pounding in my chest with every rustle of leaves. Back in the mansion, I had squeezed into the boot of the SUV when Alpha Van and Jeremiah entered the Pack house, praying I wouldn’t be discovered. I made sure I was not seen by anyone. Earlier, I’d asked Cindy to cover for me, claiming I had gone to the store. The darkness enveloped me as I held my breath, listening to the muffled sounds above. What would I say if I was caugh

NARAH'S POV I stood before the door, my heart racing. Liora had her head covered with her hood, and her dark hair covering her face. She glanced back at the corridor. “Are you sure we should be here?” This right here was a risk, but I had no other option, or so I thought. “I don't know any other person in this town,” I said, “or do you?” Liora shook her head. And I kept my knuckles rapped against the iron surface, the sound echoing in the stillness. “We could leave,” Liora suggested. Suddenly, a solid thud echoed as the metallic door swung open. Chris froze. His eyes widened in surprise, moving from Liora to me. “Narah? What are you doing here?” His gaze shifted to Liora, who stood nervously beside me in her black hoodie. “Can we come in?” I asked urgently. Without waiting for an answer, I stepped inside, dragging Liora with me. The sweet scent of vanilla filled the air-conditioned room. Chris stretched his head outside the door, glancing around to see if we had come alone

I realised I wasn't thinking at that moment; it felt as if my brain was on a vacation.“Alp–Alpha Van,” I stammered in a hushed tone, finding it difficult to breathe.I loved the feel of his hand on me, but his grip around my neck was becoming too tight and it felt like he was strangling me on purpose.“Please, stop,” I begged, my voice raspy.“Why did you help the witch?” He asked, inhaling my scent like a drug.Suddenly, he pushed me, slamming my body against the wall. His jaw and fist clenched. His eyes were otherworldly and dark, and I wondered, was this really Alpha Van?“Answer me, Narah, why did you help the witch?”I began hitting his hand with both of

I was certain Liora had masked her witch’s aura whenever she came to town just like Chris had been doing, but anxiety gnawed at me. Was it truly Beta Bernard's words that provoked me, or the death of Anakiyus and Nas?It felt as if an eerie flow of energy was coursing through my veins, fuelling my rage. It was a feeling I had never felt before. My muscles jolted, and my breathing hitched as my eyes shone like sunlight. Beta Bernard stopped in front of me, his expression shifting to horror. The only sound in the room was my steady breaths, echoing, amplifying the tension growing between us.The silence in my head… it shouldn't be silent, I thought. “You have just awakened your witch side,” Minsi said, her voice trailing off.Impulsively, I yanked the cuffs from my wrists. The pain that had subdued my body earlier had completely disappeared, replaced by a sharper affliction around my neck and wrists.Silver cuffs clutched my neck, their metal links bound to a cage behind me, while the cuffs on my wrists were tied to the stone walls on each side. The metal was cold against my skin, biting and digging into my supple flesh.I had a limit to how far I could move. As discomforting as it was, I sensed dark magic flowing through the metals and dissipating into the cuffs. What's going on? I thought inwardly, panic creeping in on me like a haunted ghost. “It's cursed silver,” Minsi's voice cooed. Why wasn't she freaking out? We were literally shackled in a dingy room, and yet she spoke like someone enjoying a day on the beach, sipping margaritas or something. I recalled Ophelia being fettered by cursed silver. The pain I was currently experiencing was similar to the one I had felt

I shook my head, acknowledging her point. Perhaps I could have said it in a better way.“What?” Chris gasped.“Gina, what are you talking about?” Liam asked. An anxious laugh escaped Miss Kiara's lips, echoing in the stillness of the room. “She's insane, as they said.”“I'm not insane,” I retorted. “My father and Corolla are the ones who actually enchanted Alpha Van after they made me poison Reina so I could take her place.”“But why?” Chris asked.“Ever heard of a gemstone called the Moon Jade?”Miss Kiara's face was blank, but Liam's and Chris's eyes widened,

GINA'S POVI stepped out of the bathroom, completely naked, water dripping onto the worn carpet. I tied up my hair in a white towel and my bare body with a plush, pink towel that lay on the bed.On top of the drawer across the room, I grabbed my pack of cigarettes and slipped one out. Lighting it, I sat down, took a long draw and watched the plumes dance in the air until they disappeared. Then I took a deep breath and exhaled.“Oh f**k this! Feels good,” I mumbled, relief washing over me.It felt good to have a long, hot shower. I already had that prison stench imbued in my pores. Now it was all washed away down the drain. Ria thought it was best to stay in the tub, but I just needed to stand, and drench myself from head to toe, that's why I opted for the shower.“I've never felt so alive,” she said happily.“I know right?” “Why did your father pick this old motel for you to stay in?”I propped myself up in my seat and looked around. (Note: This chapter is a prequel to the last. The events occured before Narah left for the Moonlight Pack to look for Liora and before the Packhouse exploded) LIORA'S POV When the guard, Corolla, and her father left to see Anakiyus, I tried to free myself, but still couldn't get it done. It was as if each time I tried, I could feel my strength leaving me, with the cuffs and chains absorbing my power. This wasn't part of the plan. Getting caught was surely never part of our plan. How would we survive this? After waiting for a few minutes, Beta Bernard and two guards returned, along with Anakiyus. Where's Nas? I wondered. Anakiyus walked majestically in between the guards. It almost seemed as if he weren't a prisoner. A stoic expression clouded his face until he saw me. As his gleaming eyes caught mine, he offered a reassuring smile, and then it dawned on me that Anakiyus had not been caught; he had freely given himself up for me. I wriggled constantly, the metal links scr

NARAH'S POV Without saying a word, the guards led Bryan and me into the Alpha's house. As soon as we stepped inside, memories flooded my mind—how Gina and I used to run around, playing and screaming at the top of our lungs. “Wait here,” one of the guards commanded. “Let me call Luna Tauriel.’ As he went upstairs, I couldn’t help but move around the house, my heart swelling. Everything was almost exactly the same. From the thick, yellow curtains to the wall where Gina and I had measured our heights over the years. The guard returned and left with the one who had stayed behind. Then Bryan suddenly asked, “How did you know impersonating the Alpha's long-dead daughter would get us in?” “I wasn’t impersonating,” I replied, scanning the living room. Bryan's face contorted. Just as he was about to speak, Luna Luna Tauriel's sharp voice pierced through the atmosphere as she descended the stairway in a precise fashion, her gaze fixated intently on me. “Look who we have here. • Broken trust: Luna's awakening    CHAPTER 118: Beyond the Lunar bond

ALPHA VAN'S POVThe night of my lunar bonding ceremony with Reina was supposed to be one of the most joyous days of my life. I had anticipated the night with her, standing side by side, chanting our vows, and binding our hearts into one. We were fated mates, and I was glad she would come to know it when she saw me, but things took a turn for the worse. A witch enchanted me; I rejected Reina, and she died.I still found it hard to believe she's back. Narah was Reina. From the day I met her in the cafe, I knew she reminded me of Reina, but wouldn't it be sickening if I told someone that Reina, who had died a long time ago, was standing in front of me, alive and well?No wonder my wolf, Curtis, called her “mate.” He could even sense the mate bond between Narah and me more than I did. However, the enchantment we were under suppressed and clouded his mind, just like it did to mine.My father once read a book about reincarnation to me as a kid. He told me about his great grand-father, Mica

LIORA'S POV Memories of my capture in Luna Tauriel's room were hazy. The dog's frantic barking had ceased. It was then wagging and chasing its tail, running in circles. I was battered so quickly, and the next thing I saw was gross darkness. A few minutes after that, I felt my body floating, then I realized I was being carried away by a man. While descending the stairs, my eyes struggled to open. As they slightly parted, trying to observe the environment, I noticed Luna Tauriel and the man from her room standing at the top of the stairs. I didn't know his name or remember it even if I'd heard of it, but I recognized his face. That unmistakable resting bitch face. He had that same expression when he attacked me in the room as soon as he saw me. A guard was now carrying me on his shoulders, taking me to a place I didn't know, and I couldn't resist. I was too weak to do anything or even speak. Gina's wicked mother watched in awe as I struggled in vain. Suddenly, a familiar sce

She uses that thing like she breathes,” Chris remarked.I shot him a glance, a smile tugging at the edges of my lips despite the tension brewing inside me. He was right. Liora was addicted to that device.“I can't let anything hurt her, Chris. I don't want anything to harm her.”I meant every word I said. I hoped Liora was safe with Anakiyus and Nas.Chris nodded, his expression resolute. “I'll take care of Van, I promise,” he assured me. “He'll be awake soon. The poison had been in him for so long, I'm surprised he's even still alive.
