Chapter 2.2

Jessa’s POV

’I don’t ‘ Randel says, his voice dripping with seriousness.

The certainty in his voice threatens to sink me into nothingness and destroy me till there is nothing left of me to damage.

I still ask him what he said to make sure I am not hearing voices and to assure myself that this is not another work of my chaotic mind.

’wha.. what?’ I ask him, my voice shaking a bit from the shock.

He cannot seriously do this to me. Right?

He cannot possibly end everything we have just like that.

No, the Randel I have grown to love so deeply will not humiliate and break my heart this way.

’Look Jessa, I have never loved you. I was only after something you possess.’ He says and I feel a very painful pang in my frail heart.

It feels like a thousand needles been pierced into my heart.

’but.. but you..’ I do not get to complete my words as I drop to the floor in sobs.

I know my makeup will get smudged but right now, I do not even care.

All I want is to lead Randel back to sanity.

who would even care about a stupid makeup whiles their heart’s been ripped into thousand pieces.

Randel is my first love and I am not ready to loose him.

Just as I am on the floor, I see Halley in the crowd of people, are who are either staring at me with pity or staring at Randel with distaste.

I quickly run to my best friend.

Since she is a good friend of Randel, I think she can help me talk to him, maybe she can make him realize that what he is doing is a big mistake.

’Hey Halley, come and talk to Randel. You are his very good friend and I think you can talk some sense into him.’ I say as I desperately drag Halley to the alter.

When we reach where Randel is standing though, she abruptly pushes me harshly and I would have ended up on the cold hard floor if not for Thea.

’I wish I could help you Jessa but I strongly suggest that we should respect Randel’s decision.’ Halley says, wanting to look like she is sympathizing with me but the look in her eyes says otherwise, the look in her eyes gives a whole new meaning to her words.

‘but..’ I trail off as I see something which almost makes me think I am seeing things. I rub my eyes but nothing change.

I stay rooted in my spot as I see Randel slip the ring I was supposed to wear on Halley’s finger as she also slip the ring I was supposed to put on Randel’s finger on his ring finger.

I see them in my peripheral vision, giving something to the pastor and then, I hear the pastor bless their marriage.

I can’t believe even the people who claim to love God can be this disgusting.

If there is one thing I have learnt today, it’s that people can never be trusted. Even the pastor is betraying the laws of God.

Gosh this fucked up world is full of hypocrites or I don’t even need to sugar coat it, It is a world full of assholes.

’You two have been dating behind my back?’ I ask them as my voice breaks from my continuous sobs and chokes.

’Yeah we have been seeing each other at your back.’ Halley says so casually, as if she was never my best friend.

’Ha! You were a fool to think we were just close friends. We have been in love with each other even before you came into the picture.’ She says , smiling at me viciously.

It is as if she has won a great battle. I mean, when did we become enemies on a war field?’

I expect Randel to at least say something but all he does is to just stare at me as if I am some thick headed person.

Yeah by now, they are proud of themselves for playing this game so well.

But what I do not understand is why they chose to do this to me. Why would Randel be with me if they already loved each other?

’If you two were already in love, then why did you get engaged to me?’ I ask Randel with a angry but confused tone.

’You know, you have something worth a billion dollars or even more but do not worry because now, I am no more interested. I just want to be with Halley, my love’ He says and slips an arm around Halley’s waist.

They are now a married couple and I must say they look good together, they actually deserve each other.

Halley is from an influential family just as Randel.

But for me, I am just a commoner. I do not even know that thing Randel says I have which has a great worth.

I will find out about it soon and if it is really true, I will surely have my revenge on them.

’Good luck in your marriage, mr. and mrs. Perkins.’ I tell them, a mischievous look pasted on my pathetic face.

Even though my heart is throbbing, I will myself to not breakdown again.

They are not worth my tears. I will not give them the pleasure of seeing me cry.

I do not regret ever loving Randel but what I regret is been a big fool to not notice they are just a bunch of vicious actors who stabbed me at my back when I trusted them with my life.

One thing I am very proud of is never allowing him to touch me sexually. I am proud that I did not sacrifice my virginity to him.

Yeah I know it is very childish and unreasonable of me to be thinking about my V-card at this moment but that stupid man had been pestering me to give it up!

Thinking of it now, that would have been a trophy for him, an icing on the cake he and his lover baked.

After saying my congratulations to the fucked up couple, I decide to walk out the hall. The stares from the people are beginning to make me feel more abashed.

As I take a step forward, I feel a sharp pain in my head and the last thing I hear is the screams of people before darkness, the ever welcomed darkness consumes me.
