Katrina’s POV

The tips of my toes scraped on the ground as I was dragged limply down the stairs. I had no idea of the route to the dungeon moreover the foul stench in the air and the sound of grunts informed me we were close.

“Open up,” He commanded as we came to a halt.

“Yes Alpha,” whomever he spoke to responded and metals clicked in place, following after by a screeching noise.

“Get in there,” Shaun growled and threw me in with much force that I landed on my knees, my palms scratched by the rough floor and face squeezed in disgust by the stronger foul scent which met my nostrils. “Lock the door Dean.”

“Please Shaun,” I whirled around still on my hands and knees, not minding the dirt and whatever compost the mud was made of and faced him as he strolled in, a merciless expression on his facial features.

“No amount of begging will save you from this Katrina,” he sneered, an evil look in his eyes as he crouched to my level while Dean the guard shut the iron barriers, locking it as he

CHAPTER 7Katrina’s POVThe torment and beating went on with Amanda’s mocking laughs and words and Shaun’s ruthless kicks and whips. At some point everything went blank as I lost consciousness.I wasn't sure if I was dreaming or dead but I suddenly saw a beacon of light approach me. Frowning and squinting my eyes, I sat up and watched it come closer.Luckily for me it didn't get too close thus I would have been blinded by it. It stopped and I observed it with interest, questions flying about in my head. ‘Be strong Katrina,’ a feminine voice echoed from the light, causing my frown to become deeper as I wondered what the hell was happening.‘Who are you?’ I questioned in a quiet tone, trying to peek behind the light as I wondered if the guard stationed at the door was sleeping or had left thus it seemed like I was the only one there with whatever the light was.‘Someone you’d come to thank,’ the voice said. ‘You have questions which would be answered in due time.’‘No, I want them answ

Katrina’s POVDays went by and my bruises just got a little bit better. No one cared about the state of my health as I was back doing errands and hard labor the next day.Being without a wolf made me totally different from others of my kind. At times it was bliss because there was no annoying voice in my head to tell me and issue me orders.Nonetheless at times when I felt too alone, I wished I heard the presence in my head to fill me in with some company. Also at times like these when I needed to heal fast, I wished she was with me because I was healing slowly like a human.Bending over, I finished wrapping the bandage around my knee for the second time in a few days. Having no one to help me out or care I learnt to do stuff for myself.Even Shaun who had the audacity to show up after what he did to sleep with me didn't even flinch at the bruises and bandaged knee and a swollen elbow on my body.I managed to kick him out of course and since then he hadn't visited. It had been a week

Katrina’s POVHer words stung but I let it slide and simply left to do her bid, picking up the bucket in my right hand which was gratefully in good condition. No matter how I tried to get rid of the hurt of his rejection or set my mind it wasn't my fault, someone or something ended up telling me otherwise and it always stung.Heaving a sigh I walked out of the pack house and began my trek across the pack lands. It was still morning and one could hear the voices of mother's and kids as they got them prepared for school and father's get ready for the day.The bloodmoon pack was not as developed as some others I had heard of, maybe it was because Shaun was a heartless and stupid Alpha. Sometimes I wonder what made me love him but the answer was always the damned matebond.I exchanged no greetings with anyone I came across and no one uttered a word to me either. I was the outcast of the pack who had caused the death of both parents at her birth. An hour went by and I approached a clearing

Days had flown by and I was back to being in hell. Amanda didn’t relent as she threw insults at me and tried to mock and hit me at any chance she got.As for Shaun, he happened to stay clear of me. He hadn't approached me personally since I chased him out of my room after he threw me in the dungeon. He even went through the trouble of avoiding eye contact.I was ecstatic about that fact as I needs a break from his madness. I just hope he doesn't return back to being stupid soon. I loved things the way they were.As for my health and recovery, it was going well and I was starting to heal. Vanessa had become a great help by volunteering to do the strenuous chores, therefore reducing the stress on me and giving my body time to recover. To my surprise Vanessa had proven to be totally different than what I had thought. She happened to be the friend I needed by standing by me as she was mentally stronger and more capabable in handling pressure unlike me who succumbed to it easily. When I as

Katrina’s POV“Hurry,” I said to Vannessa who was getting dressed while I stood beside her, already dressed. We were in my room. Vanessa was not given a place to stay when she was brought and the maids wouldn't want to get on Amanda’s bad side by accomading her in their quarters.I only found this out some days after we met. It was early in the morning and I was heading to run an early errand Amanda had indicated to me the previous day when I observed her sleeping beside my door. She didn't know it was my room by then. Feeling sympathetic and deciding to give her a chance, I let her sleep in with me after I warned her about its state. To my surprise she didn't act disgusted or flinched instead she was grateful and it was nice having company and someone to share the days events with.Vanessa loved to discuss and badmouth people a lot so sharing chats with her was always fun. Staying together made us bond more with each other and she got really comfortable with me.It was sometime in th

Katrina’s POVThe words flew past my ear as every other person in the room went still for a moment as the news settled in their system. Amanda inhaled a deep breath and nodded at the guard who exited after."You all heard the guard," she said in a loud tone. "Round up whatever it is you are doing and leave as soon as you can.""If you can't round up everything then pack up and leave," she issued out the command, clapping her hands rapidly for emphasis. The men whom I was about to work with began climbing down the ladder and packed up their equipments. I tried to help but they shook their heads no. They didn't appear familiar and I wondered where they were from and if they were humans, wolves or lycans.Another side effect of not having a wolf, I couldn't sense or figure out simple things like that. Except if I was told or if a situation came up that somehow revealed it to me."Katrina!" Amanda yelled my name all of a sudden and I jumped, wondering what the problem was this time."Yes

Katrina’s POV“Umm that would be a lie,” Amanda said and broke out in a hysterical laugh which to me showed her nervousness. “Who would feed you such information?”“Are you indirectly calling me a liar?” The man who spoke earlier questioned. His tone icy as his statement held animosity. “I’m the Lycan King and I have people at every corner ready to give me whatever information I seek.”“When they don't?” He implored, making sure there was silence for some moments. “I tend to investigate matters myself. This is to say everything I speak of has been thoroughly checked and confirmed before I take action”“Pssss,” an object poked my back and I stared behind me to see the maid with a tray following me. “Why haven't you gone in?”“Ummm, I-”“Move,” she jabbed me with the tray. “You are not the only one who hates to be scolded and I’m in no mood for your shenanigans.”Having no choice I used my right elbow while tightly holding the tray of food and bent the door handle. Katrina’s POV“Then tell us,” Shaun declared after sharing a quick glance with his Elders and Amanda. “Is there someone you admire?”“I wouldn't use the word admire,” he corrected as I was almost at the door. “But yes, I have my eyes out on someone.”“Who might that be?” Luca one of the elders implored.“Her,” Davos announced as my hand reached the handle. For the third time since I came to serve, the room grew quiet and I felt eyes digging into my back. Feeling compelled to turn around, I did just as Amanda screamed, “Her?!”“What?” I blurted the question before I could think, the empty tray in my hand shaking.“Yes,” Davos affirmed as I fully faced him from a distance, his posture relaxed in a short sleeved brown and black designer shirt and black slacks. His chin held high, a small smile playing on his lips. “Why?” Shaun interrogated.“I have my reasons,” he replied, golden eyes I never knew existed raking my form, his gaze still intense and it came off as if he could see beneath

  • Bound to the Alpha’s will   Chapter 112: Historical Shadows

Katrina's POVTension hung in the night air. It was felt in my bones. With the wolves restless and their instincts warning them to approaching danger, the pack had been restless all day. I also felt it. There was a problem. For reasons I couldn't understand, my heart was racing as I stepped outdoors and looked up at the black sky. Beside me, Shaun had a gloomy look. With fighters positioned across the area, his pack was on high alert. Then it took place. Through the darkness came a long, eerie wail in the distance. We didn't have it. My blood froze. Shaun's tone was sharp. "They're present." Shadows passed between the trees before I could reply. Out of the darkness sprang figures—Lycans. Twelve or more of them. Their forms were big and frightening, and their eyes gleamed in the moonlight. Shaun stepped in front of me and told me to stay back. I wasn't going to hide, however. A Lycan took a step forward. His eyes were full of hate, and his hair was dark gray. "We have a message

It was a quiet night. Too quiet. With an odd feeling in my gut, I sat up in bed. Something unseen was thick in the air, making it seem heavy. I paid careful attention. Nothing. Then there was a noise. A little scuff on the glass. With my heart racing, I sprang to my feet. Danger was what my feelings were screaming at me. Step by step, my fingers tightened into fists as I approached the sound. Outside, a shadow moved. My breath caught. Then the glass broke. A dark person sprang into the space. He was on me before I could even reply. The moonlight glinted on a blade. The cold blade sliced my arm as I pulled away, but not fast enough. Even though I was in pain, I continued. My arm slammed into the intruder's side as I spun around. Despite his groan, he stayed standing. He moved quickly. Too quickly. He had killing training. The sword slashed at my neck, and I ducked. My heart was racing. I couldn't afford to make even one mistake. Once again, he lunged. I ducked, acting just au

I gazed at the moon while standing on the balcony. My breath was erratic, and my hands were shaking. Even when the night wind touched my skin, the tempest inside of me continued to rage. In an attempt to suppress the terror that was tearing at my chest, I balled my fists. I felt as if my body wasn't mine. I was powerful, unstoppable, for a time. The next, I felt useless and feeble. Shaun approached me from behind. "What's wrong, Katrina?" My lips trembled as I turned to face him. "I have no idea what's going on with me." My voice broke. "I feel strong for a moment. I feel like I'm drowning the next moment. With a sigh, he reached for my hand, but I resisted. Comfort wasn't what I wanted. I was looking for answers. "It's because you've changed," he said softly. "You've evolved beyond being a werewolf. You are more than that. I gave a sour chuckle. "Is there more? Or is anything broken? Shaun's face became serious. "Katrina, you're not broken." I gave a headshake. "You're not ge

Katrina’s POVThe woman on the cliff disappeared as the river roared back into place, the bone path swallowed by the churning waters. My heart pounded, the Relic’s icy burn spreading up my arm. The visions lingered—her voice, her eyes, the chair of bones.‘Katrina,’ Marie’s voice was faint, strained. ‘The Relic… it’s changing you.’“I know,” I whispered, clutching my scarred hand. The runes pulsed with a faint red light, matching the rhythm of my heartbeat. The forest around me was strangely silent, the air thick with tension. I needed to move, to find Davos, to warn him. But where could I go? The castle was in ruins, the pack scattering. And now, this woman—this thing—was hunting me.I stumbled to my feet, my wet dress clinging to my skin. The Relic’s glow gave just enough light to see the rocky shore. I followed it downstream, thinking it would lead me to safety. But the forest had other plans. The trees seemed to close in around me, their branches turning into clawed hands. Shadows

Katrina POVAdvisor Thomas smiled sharply and unnaturally, and his snake-like eyes gleamed. As he transformed back into a human, the Blood Moon Alpha snarled and flung me to the ground in the jungle."Traitor," spit out the Alpha. "The plan was for you to die in the vault."Blood still trickled from Thomas's lips as he tilted his head. "One I've learned to...work out." "Death is a choice." He held up his hand, and the red-eyed rogues stepped forward. "Give me the hybrid, and you can crawl back to your pack with your tail between your legs."The Alpha growled, his fingers sprouting claws. "Don't take what's mine."Marie hissed in my head, "Katrina." "He has the Relic in his satchel!"The leather pouch at the Alpha's waist caught my attention. Through the fissures streamed a faint blue radiance. Davos had attempted to safeguard the Relic.Thomas was the first to lunge, his movements oddly fluid. His hit sent a ripple across the trees as the Alpha collided with him in midair. The red-eye

Katrina’s POVThe veiled figure stood at the middle of the burning courtyard, flames reflected in their masked eyes like twin stars of evil. The air reeked of smoke and blood, the castle walls moaning as fire consumed them. Davos tightened his grip on my hand, his breath ragged. Shaun changed back into human form beside us, his face mysterious but his stance coiled for action. “Who is that?” I whispered, my voice raw. Davos’s jaw clenched. “The puppeteer.” The figure raised a hand, and the rogues still crawling through the rubble froze, their snarls dying mid-throat. Silence fell, broken only by the crackle of fire. “You’ve made this tedious,” the figure said, their voice twisted, booming as if three people spoke at once. “But predictable. Always defending weakness.” Shaun stepped forward, his voice a blade. “Show your face.” The figure laughed—a sound that scraped my bones. “You first, traitor. How does it feel to kneel at her feet?” Shaun’s hands clenched, but Davos cut in. “

Katrina's POVThe door burst inward, wood pieces flying in every direction. Davos dragged me behind him, his body protecting me as the first rogue shot across the broken portal. With drool flowing from its bared fangs, its yellow eyes projected wild hunger. Davos answered it directly, his fist hitting its head with a terrible crunch. More were already flowing in behind the rebel fallen to the floor.'Stay back!' Davos yelled, his voice a hoarse snarl as he tore viciously across the rogues. His motions were a blur, each hit deadly and exact. But there were too many of them. For every rogue he took down, two others seemed to take its place. I held the blade Davos had given me, my hands trembling. My heart pounded in my chest, and I could feel Marie’s presence in my head, her words demanding. ‘Katrina, you need to fight. You can’t just stand here.’ ‘I don’t know how!’ I shot back, fear growing in my chest. ‘I’ve never fought like this before!’ ‘Use your instincts,’ Marie urged,

The figure hissed, grip loosening—just enough. I broke free, stumbling back, but they lunged again, putting an arm around my throat. Cold breath hissed against my ear. “You’re coming with me.” Black spots blurred my eyes as I grasped at their arm. Then, a roar pierced the air. “Let. Her. Go.” Davos rushed down the hall, eyes burning. Relief rushed over me at the sight of him, but it was quickly replaced by fear when the figure shoved me aside. I slumped to the floor, gasping. Davos swung, his fist striking with the figure’s jaw. They staggered but recovered unusually quickly, ducking his next hit with strange ease. “Davos, be careful!” I rushed to my feet, pulse poundin

Katrina's POVThe night was oddly quiet after Davos and the guards left to investigate the person I had seen outside. I stood in the hallway, my arms wrapped firmly around myself, trying to quiet the storm of fear rushing inside me. The castle felt cooler, darker, like if the shadows themselves were alive and watching me. Marie’s words repeated in my mind, her tone pressing. 'Katrina, keep alert. The threat isn’t over.' 'I know,' I replied, my voice quivering in my mind. 'But what do I do, Marie? I can’t just stand here and wait.' 'You need to keep strong,' Marie stated, her voice stern. 'Davos will handle this. But you need to be ready for anything.' I nodded, though no one was there to see it. My heart was pounding, and I could feel the excitement running through my blood. I couldn’t just stand there and do nothing. I needed to know what was happening. I stepped nearer the window, looking out into the night. The moon shed a light glimmer over the castle grounds, but the shades
