Chapter 69— An illegal plan

Head banging. Arms sore. Dry throat. Weak hands. To all this, my eyes fluttered open. White ceilings. White sheets. Hospital. I gasped as I sat upright instantly.

"Rosie!" Familiar hands grabbed me and pulled me to herself as my chest heaved. "Mum is here."

"Mum," I sniffed as I stilled in her arms, my brain trying to connect the dots and when it clicked, I pulled off her hold at once, "Xander!" I got down the bed, my body beginning to tremble.

"How's he? How's my Xander? Where's Xander?"

"Can you just stop talking about him and sit down?" Aria scream pierced the room with high intensity before she pushed me to the bed, "Enough about Xander! Enough about him! Think about yourself for once!"

My body trembled slightly before it came back to normal and I finally got a grip of myself. "He's in the court. There's no evidence. I couldn't get it," I broke into a sob at once.

I couldn't save Xander. Was I really of no use? He had protected me countless times and I couldn't even do anything.
