The Necklace

Catherine's POV

I arrived home early before my mom, so I went into the kitchen to prepare some meals before her arrival.

Just after I finished serving dinner, she came home.

I quickly rushed to hug her.

"Welcome home, Mom," I said with excitement.

"Oh, God, I'm so tired," she said, touching her elbow. She went directly to the dining table to sit down, dropping what she bought.

While eating, I brought up a conversation.

"Mom, I finally found a suitor," I told her excitedly, and she looked at me with disbelief.

"How did you find a suitor?" she asked me.

"Mom, never mind that, I will introduce him to you," I replied joyfully.

She couldn't believe I found a suitor.

"I will be expecting him," she stated as we ate.

"Mummy, do you believe in werewolves?" I asked unconsciously, but then Mom stopped eating and stood up immediately.

I could see the nervousness in her, which I found it difficult to understand why she reacted that way.

"Don't ever bring up that discussion again," she warned me, a frown settling in the middle of her forehead.

"Here, I got you this," Mom handed me a brand new camera.

"Thank you, Mom," I collected it with excitement and hugged her.

"I will be traveling tomorrow; I will be back in three nights," she told me.

"Good night," she said, walking away from the dinner.

I wondered why Mom reacted that way. It was so confusing.

She was tired, and instead, I brought up a silly discussion, I thought. I forgot her reactions to my question as I admired the new camera in my mind.

"welcome to my adventure baby" I blushed

I went into my room and began to pack my backpack for my mission to see the moonlight because I needed to get that young man to marry me.

But I still couldn't wait to find answers to my questions.

'That there is another world beneath the surface of the earth and on top of the earth,' I thought, being adventurous. I couldn't wait to go on the journey.

"But Mom must not find out about it," I said to myself.

Her reaction was so bad, when I mentioned werewolf, I must go secretly.

After arranging my bag, I finally laid down on my bed, reading the book I received from my soon-to-be-fiance. I giggled as I remembered saying the word fiance.

I kept on reading the book and finding out how to get the moonlight, but it said not with my natural eyes.

I don't believe in supernatural powers, but I was determined to get them, moonlight, and paint them.

With my thoughts running through my mind, I did not know how I fell asleep.

**********

I found myself surrounded by darkness at the four corners, only my blue gown, hair, and purple eyes were shining.

"Come to me," an unknown voice said to me repeatedly. The darkness tried to overshadow me, but then a red wolf whose skin color was shining in the darkness came out howling at the darkness, making it disappear.

"Wakey wakey, I'm off," someone tapped my leg, and then I realized I was dreaming. I opened my eyes gently to have a clearer vision.

I saw Mom's white teeth shining, and I scratched my eyes again to have a better vision. I gently sat down on the bed, yawning, and then I could see Mom well; she was all dressed and ready to go out.

"I'm going, my dear," she said, touching my cheek.

"Don't be lazy while I'm gone," she added.

"Alright, Mom, don't forget to bring me something when you come back," I giggled, telling her.

She kissed me on my forehead.

"Take care of yourself for Momma," she said as she stood up towards the door, unlocking it, and she left.

Immediately after she left, I went directly to get dressed. I grabbed a top and jeans with a hat on my head, wearing boots, looking like a cowgirl.

I dressed up, finished, and carried my bag. I was about to take a step when my bag tore, and all my painting materials fell.

I quickly went into Mom's room, perhaps I would find a larger bag size to carry. I opened her wardrobe and saw a diamond case hidden beneath her clothes. It was so attractive that I opened it.

I saw a beautiful chain looking like what was described in the novel I read. I put it on and picked up the bag, pouring my necessary materials inside.

I went to the mountain to see my fiance, and luckily enough, I found him there, waiting. Today, he was dressed in his elegant robes as usual.

"Hi," I greeted him with excitement, and he looked at me from up to down.

"You look prepared, right?" he looked at me from up to down again, making me blush a little.

"What is your name?" I asked him curiously.

"I thought you would never ask. I'm Noah," he said.

"I'm Catherine," I told him.

"You are popular, dear, I know your name very well," he replied to me.

"Are you ready to go now?" he asked me.

"Of course, I'm ready, but I need a map…." Before I could finish my statement, he sent a map to me.

"Let’s go," he stretched his hands out, and I also stretched my hand out towards him. We went down the hills, towards his carrier, and entered it, as I was being carried to an unknown place.

The carrier stopped, we dropped, and I could see a large tunnel.

"This is the tunnel that separates us from the werewolf world and ours. Read through the map well, and you can still back out now, and we cut the deal," he said, but I quickly rejected it.

"No, I will go," I said boldly.

"I shall set my camp around there waiting for your return," he said, kissing my forehead. For the first time, I felt human-to-human touch.
