Chapter 4

"You...will get...your just reward!"

There was one last warning uttered by the dying man. A man who was crawling slowly approached Dave. His hand moved to touch Dave's leg.

"You and your lover will suffer the consequences!"

Dave was about to get rid of the man by kicking or stomping on his body. But Aleta, who could no longer stand the sadistic scene before her, suddenly screamed.

"Shhttooop! Please stop. Don't you see, he's already suffered enough!" Aleta said with a trembling body.

The girl's scream was enough to shock Dave into releasing his embrace from Aleta. And Aleta's words, indeed, succeeded in making Dave undo his intentions.

"You're all crazy!" Aleta shouted again.

Aleta turned and ran out of the store. She tried her best to run as fast as she could, leaving behind a place that would become another source of trauma.

Dave's men intended to chase Aleta. But Dave prevented them, by making a hand gesture.

"You guys just clean up the mess. I'll go after the girl," Dave ordered.

Within seconds Dave caught up with Aleta who was already running away. Dave again grabbed Aleta's body, pulled her, forced her to turn around, so that Aleta and Dave were now facing each other.

"Let go of me, who are you? I don't want to be dragged into your problems. I want to go home, let go!" screamed Aleta in fear.

"Aleta..." called Dave.

"You must be a monster, you're a hitman. I never want to see you again," Aleta roared, not caring when Dave called her.

"Aleta listen to me!" pleaded Dave again.

"I don't want to hear you. Let go of me!" But Aleta was still trying to get away as she continued to speak.

"Aleta!" snapped Dave.

"Aleta, Aleta, Aleta, how do you know my name huh! I don't recognize you at all, I want you to..."

Before Aleta could finish speaking, Dave silenced her in one fell swoop. The man planted another kiss on Aleta's lips. A sudden kiss that inevitably forced Aleta to shut up.

Aleta was not surprised at this moment. This kiss reminded Aleta of the incident that night. An unpleasant incident that became the beginning of another unpleasant incident like today.

Aleta tried hard to break away with her meager strength. While Dave tightened his grip on Aleta's arm and deepened his kiss.

Sadly, Aleta felt so stupid that she finally weakened and began to give in reluctantly.

Feeling no more resistance from Aleta, Dave let go of Aleta. The girl let out a gasping sound after Dave broke the kiss.

Aleta wiped her lips in disgust, then looked at the man's face. And at the same time, for the first time, the two people's gazes met. They looked at each other in different ways.

Dave looked at her with curiosity, while Aleta looked at him with hatred.

"I have no other choice to put you at ease, but to take something important away from you again," Dave said, trying to make sense of it.

Although, Dave actually still didn't know what the significance of a first kiss was for a woman. But he still remembered how upset Aleta had been when he had taken her first kiss. So... can't it be concluded that it was something important.

"How did you know my name?" Aleta asked.

The girl took a step back, keeping her distance from Dave.

"Not just your name, I know everything about you. Aleta Alexander!" said Dave.

Aleta was a little surprised. It had been a long time since anyone knew Aleta's full name. The girl had almost forgotten the last name Alexander which she never mentioned, or wrote in her personal data.

"Who are you really?" Aleta asked then.

"Don't you know already. I'm..."

"Yes, I know. You must be a robber, evil and strange. You must be a mafia member with a disorder. That's why you have so many problems. Please, I don't want to get involved in all your problems!" Aleta cut in first, before Dave could finish.

Dave narrowed his eyes as he thought. Shouldn't Aleta know that he was a werewolf. But from everything Aleta said, it seemed that the girl didn't know at all. Was Dave's estimation wrong.

"What happened after I fainted. Where did you go that night?" Dave tried to bait Aleta with a question.

"I left you!" Aleta replied firmly and quickly.

"What? You left me?"

"Yes. I'm sorry, I sounded mean, didn't I? I left you on the ground and covered in blood. But I had a reason, unlike you who was so cruel as to sadistically kill those people!" Aleta explained.

Dave was eager to refute Aleta's statement. About her being sadistic and cruel because Dave also had his own reasons. But on second thought, Dave felt no obligation to give Aleta an explanation.

After all, it was true. Everyone, especially his people, had to recognize Dave as sadistic, evil and cruel. Otherwise, how could he stay alive. Especially as the last leader of his family's wolf nation.

Dave only felt an obligation, because thanks to Aleta he was able to survive the pursuit of the enemy. Although in the end, Aleta left him at the worst possible moment.

But Dave didn't care much about that. In fact, he should probably be grateful. Because the fewer people who knew about his true identity, the better. However, there was another problem that he couldn't help but be concerned about.

"You have to come with me," Dave ordered then.

"Come, with you? On what basis are you asking me to come with you?" Aleta asked back.

"Because you have no other choice," Dave replied.

"Are you in charge of my life and death, huh? So you can control my life," Aleta shot back.

Unfortunately, the answer to Aleta's question is 'Yes'. Like it or not, from now on Dave must and will be responsible for Aleta's life. Because unintentionally, Dave had dragged Aleta into his dangerous life.

"I told you, I don't want to interfere in your problems. My life was fine before you came along. And it would have been even better, if you never came!"

Aleta turned around, intending to leave Dave. She wanted nothing to do with Dave, especially after all the violence she had seen in the store.

"You have a younger brother who still needs treatment don't you!" said Dave in a loud voice.

Aleta had just lifted her foot, intending to make the first move. However, she immediately paused, digesting the man's words.
