13. Is Yohan alive?

"Are you sure about this?"

Nolan nodded gravely. "Yes, Madam. The software of President lift is impossible to break. The technician who fixed the lift confirmed that the software had been tampered with so that you couldn't use it. And when you opted to use the staff lift, it was broken intentionally right before you were about to go in. It was clear that someone had planned to harm you.”

She felt a shiver run down her spine as she thought about what could have happened if she had been in the lift when it broke down. The idea that someone was after her was terrifying. She had never felt so vulnerable before.

Nolan was watching her with concern, and she could tell that he was equally disturbed by the incident. She turned to him, "Do you have any idea who could have done this?"

Nolan shook his head, "I am not sure, but we are looking into it. We are checking the CCTV footage and talking to the security personnel to see if they noticed anything suspicious."

Sara nodded, "Okay, keep me updated. And let me know if there is anything I can do to help with the investigation."

Nolan assured her and left the room to continue with his investigation. Sara sat there for a few moments, trying to calm her nerves. She felt like she was in danger, and she didn't know what to do about it.

Sara also spoke to the security team at the office, and asked them to increase their surveillance around the building. She wanted to make sure that they were doing everything possible to keep her and the other employees safe.

The incident had been a wake-up call for her, and she realized that she needed to take her safety seriously.

Days were passing by.

Neither Yohan Dixon could be traced nor the person who attacked Sara Owen.

And then one day, Kevin Johnson called Sara Owen to meet again.

As Sara entered the hotel room, she locked eyes with the tall and attractive man.

Kevin's expression softened as he saw Sara standing there, her baby bump clearly indicating that she would be giving birth soon. He reminded himself that she was the mother of Yohan's child, and he shouldn't think of her in any romantic way. However, he couldn't help but admire her beauty.

He put out his cigarette in the ashtray and reached out to gently hold her hand.

“Let me help you.”

“It’s okay.” She carefully placed her purse on the couch and sat down slowly.

Kevin glanced down at his empty hand and then smiled at Sara, choosing to ignore his feelings.

"I do have something that might help you. Before Ricky was kidnapped, some people were following him, who are now in my custody.

After he said that, he grabbed the remote and turned on the TV. There were two guys tied up in a room, getting beaten by some other dude. It was like one of those security camera recordings. Kevin was puffing on a cig and interrogating the two guys while the other guy was doing the beating. Sara watched everything closely and listened intently.

Kevin switched off the TV and turned to face Sara. "Have you ever seen these guys before?"

"No, I haven't.”

"They didn't give us any information on who hired them to follow Ricky, but I did find two mobile phones on them with some interesting stuff..." Kevin trailed off, causing Sara to panic.

"Don't freak me out like that.”

Kevin grabbed a photograph from the desk and placed it in front of Sara. As she glanced at the picture, tears welled up in her eyes.

The image displayed a battered and bloodied Yohan Dixon, bound to a wooden chair.

Sara's hands trembled as she picked up the photo, clutching it tightly to her chest while sobbing.

"I got this photo from their phones," Kevin said softly, giving Sara a comforting pat on the shoulder.

Tears streaming down her face, Sara asked, "Is Yohan alive?"

"I don't have that info yet," Kevin responded with a heavy sigh.

Sara looked at him expectantly.

He continued, "These two guys don't know anything about the kidnapping, but we did find this same photo on the phones. Maybe…it has in the mobiles of the people involved in this operation. I need Ricky's investigating team to help me hack into their mobile data."

"I'll do whatever it takes to help.”

Kevin gently grasped her shaking shoulders and gazed deeply into her eyes. "If these phones were hacked, then we have a chance of finding him soon," he said.

Sara, still in a state of shock, nodded and whispered, "Thank you." She then struggled to get up from her seat.

“I'll call Nolan and get the team ready to help you. I gotta go now. It's Saturday night, I have to go to Dixon Villa.”

“Is the driver with you?”

“No. But I'll go.”

“Can I drop you?”

“No, thanks. I gotta go.”

“Sara...hold on a sec,” Kevin interrupted as she tried to step forward.

“I can't risk your safety. You've already been attacked several times,” he said, pulling out a locket from his pants pocket.

He handed it to her and said, “Wear this locket. It has a transmitter that will send me your location.”

“Are you going to keep tabs on me now?” Sara asked with a hint of playfulness, trying to lighten up the mood with informal dialogue.

"This little thing will keep you safe. Just press the button and I'll come running."

Sara looked closely at the locket, unsure of its intended function.

Kevin noticed her uncertainty and showed her how to use it by pressing the button. This action activated an emergency alarm on his phone, revealing the hotel's precise location. Once the alarm was deactivated, he waited anxiously for Sara's reaction. Taking a deep breath, Sara reluctantly agreed to wear the locket.

“I’ll help you.”

He fastened the locket around her neck and flashed a smile at her.

“Thank you.”

Sara Owen departed the room at a slow pace, leaving Kevin Johnson behind to grapple with his own feelings of helplessness.
