Chapter 2 - Sky High Compensation

Cameron opened her eyes, the sunlight from outside coming into contact with her dark eyes.

"Argh," she groaned and closed her eyes once again.

Opening and closing her eyes until she could finally adapt to the light, she stood up and left her bed. Sighing, she went to prepare herself.

Entering the bathroom, her eyes slightly widened after seeing herself in the mirror.

The once bright face now turned pale, her eyes puffy while there were dark circles under her eyes and her lips chapped as if she had no energy left. Her life is hanging at the death threat that if anyone were to see her, they would say she was sick and needed to go to the hospital. But Cameron only widened her eyes before her pale face turned emotionless once again.

Walking towards her bedside table, where her phone is ringing nonstop, her eyes flickered slightly after seeing who the caller is.

Cameron took a deep breath before answering the phone. After a moment of hesitation, "Hey," her hoarse voice echoed through the phone line. Noah, who was driving towards the Civil Affair Bureau office, knitted his brows after hearing her voice.

"Are you sick?" Noah coldly asked.

Cameron's lips were pursed, her eyes flashing a bit of sarcasm before it disappeared.

What's the use of caring about her health now?

She took a deep breath once again and slightly smiled, even though Noah on the other side of the phone couldn't see the smile on her chapped lips at all.

"If I'm sick, would you still have the heart to divorce me?" Cameron teased, her eyes did not hold any bit of light.

Noah furrowed his brows after hearing Cameron's words.

He stopped his car by the roadside and growled, "Are you messing with me right now?! I will tell you, no matter whether you are gravely sick or are dying, you need to be at the Civil Affair Bureau office on time! Signing the divorce papers is more important than your health, you got that? Don't test my patience, Cameron; you know what I will do if I get angry." Noah coldly said before hanging up the phone

.Cameron wryly smiled. She fell into her bed and curled up, touching her slightly hurting belly.

She bit her lip hard until she tasted blood to prevent herself from crying once again.

"I'm sorry. I'm sorry I got you a father like him. I'm sorry," Cameron whispered slowly, her palm massaging her stomach as if wanting to calm someone inside.

A few minutes passed, her stomach did not hurt anymore.

Cameron's tired eyes looked at the ceiling above, her gaze was slightly blurry, but she still tried to stand up and go to the bathroom to clean herself up.

-

She got out of the cab after paying the driver; her mind became more muddle-headed as she looked at the Civil Affair Bureau building in front, but she still braced herself as she took one step at a time in order not to appear abnormal to the people around her because of her woggle walk.

She walked step by step into the Civil Affair Bureau, where Noah, who was already waiting for her, got out of the building and greeted her with gritted teeth.

"Are you a snail?! Why are you so slow? Noah yanked her arm, his voice low, while scolding her. He dragged her forcefully inside the Civil Affair Bureau while still holding her arms harshly.

Her gaze, which was regaining its clarity bit by bit, became blurry once again.

After sitting down inside the Civil Affair Bureau office, Noah, who was already not angry, was finally able to perceive that Cameron's body was hot.

He was about to touch Cameron's body once again to check her temperature to confirm when Aubrey, who tagged with him along in the Civil Affair Bureau office, touched his arm slightly, he stopped himself from doing something that could make his first love jealous.

Cameron, even though she was already muddleheaded, was able to watch their silent conversation; her stomach churned, feeling a bit uncomfortable.

She did not continue looking at Noah and Aubrey, who were intimately talking, as she looked over at the secretary, who only silently looked at them.

"Are the divorce papers already printed?" Her cold and hoarse voice and signs that she was extremely sick made Noah knit his brows once again as he silently observed Cameron's face.

Now that he has observed his wife, who will soon be his ex-wife, more closely, her once bright face was pale, her eyes slightly puffy, and her lips chapped as if bitten multiple times.

He does not know whether it was because her parents died and she was also in the process of divorce or if it was because of some other factors that made the once gentle spring breeze become a withered flower over time.

His face crunch up, feeling a bit uncomfortable, an unknown rage igniting inside his chest.

Aubrey, who was closely observing Noah's face and perceiving a change of emotion on them after looking closely at his soon-to-be ex-wife, felt a sense of crisis. She bent down slightly to kiss Noah's cheeks as if wanting to divert his attention.

Being looked up by Noah confusedly seemed to be telling her that she had successfully diverted Noah's attention from his ex-wife to her. With that thought, a slight smug smile appeared inside her eyes as she looked over at Cameron provocatively.

Cameron did not mind the provocation in Aubrey's eyes, she already knew what she would receive from this divorce, so the slight reluctance she felt faded away.

Inheriting the house he and Noah have after they married and getting $200 million to compensate her does not seem to be a bad deal.

She will live without worry until she is old; even if she chooses to keep the baby, they will be able to live worry-free.

"Will I be able to get the $200 million after I sign these divorce papers, or will I wait for it until we are deemed ex-husband and ex-wife?" Cameron asked, her puffy eyes glancing at Noah without any expression on them after staring at Aubrey's wide eyes when she uttered the compensation she will get after this divorce.

"Isn't 200 million a lot?" Aubrey suddenly intervened, her face uncomfortable.

Cameron sneered, "200 million is considered a lot for you. Are you really that poor that you consider a few million as a lot?" Aubrey was stumped for words, she forgot that Cameron was the only child of the multi-millionaire couple and was pampered to death by every family member. Even though their company is already bankrupt, she can't deny the fact that Cameron lived luxuriously in the past.

Her cheeks burned slightly, as if she were being fiercely slapped.

Noah was about to scold and reprimand Cameron just like he always do to avenge Aubrey for being humiliated by her when Cameron suddenly continued on to say, "Instead of a lot, isn't 200 million too little for a billionaire like you to compensate your soon to be ex-wife? I put up with you with 3 and a half years, being an obedient wife not causing any trouble for you anywhere while we were married, don't you think you should compensate me with a reasonable amount and not just a mere 200 million?"

Noah furrowed his brows after hearing Cameron's words.

Aubrey, who couldn't believe that Cameron would demand even more money from her soon-to-be husband, was very anxious.

Her hold on Noah's shoulder tightened as if wanting Noah to rebuke Cameron's words, but her strength was very little, coupled with the thought that Noah might start to hate her if she laid a hand on him while they were still not married.

Her strength really couldn't be felt at all. She was distressed and was looking for words to stop Cameron from being greedy, but she couldn't seem to find any.

Noah did not know about Aubrey dilemma at all.

As a young billionaire, adding a bit more million is not that hard for him or even could be considered as nothing for him, he was just slightly surprised that Cameron would ask to add more money to the compensation. In the past, Cameron would never do this or maybe she would do this, but he does know of it at all.

Realizing that he seemed to not know of his wife for 3 and a half years made him very uncomfortable, his cold face become even more colder.

Aubrey thought that Cameron would back out after seeing Noah cold face, but Cameron did not even pay them any attention since Cameron tilted her head, her eyes lowered to cover up the daze state her eyes were in.

"How much do you want?" Noah coldly asked, holding the hands that were restlessly moving back and forth on his shoulder.

Cameron thought that she would feel uncomfortable by such a scene but knowing that she would reap a lot of benefits from this divorce, her reluctance to this divorce is starting to fade bit by bit.

Noah seemed to feel it too, so instead of being pleased, he felt more unpleasant about such a thing.

Cameron crossed her legs, she blinked and thought for a bit.

Noah was still calmly looking at her, but Aubrey behind him felt that she was about to suffer a heart attack.

The secretary, who already had a laptop in front of him since the change of terms in the divorce paper was about to happen, waited until Cameron finally uttered the right compensation she deserved: "500 million plus the land title."

"You can't be that greedy, Cameron!" Aubrey finally couldn't help herself as she shouted, pointing at Cameron's face. Her soon-to-be husband's money is being given to another person other than her, just thinking about it, her intestines hurt to the core that she can't wait but to tape Cameron lips so that she will not be able to say things that will give her a heart attack.
