The funny part was that she made the second route for a completely different purpose and now it was coming to very good use.
She smiled to herself as she walked through the turns.
She finally got to her room and got ready for work, noting that today she had to just bear with her parents before leaving for work and then she'd see them again later by the time she returned from work.
She just hoped that they didn't decide to show up in her office once again because no one would stop her from just outrightly screaming at them once things got too much.
Eleonora finished her usual morning routine and had a shower before quickly drying up and slipping into her retro dark blue suit pants with a matching dark blue turtleneck long-sleeve shirt.
With some diamonds spluttered here and there but not too much for an official outfit, she wore her jacket and snatched her eight-inch stiletto heels from the floor where she placed them.
Wearing her shoes and making her hair into a simple sleeked back ponytail, Eleonora adorned her ears with stud diamond earrings and sprayed her cologne before looking at herself and nodding her head in satisfaction with her appearance.
She walked to her room and just when she reached the door, she remembered that she left her wristwatch and her phone so she went back to get them.
"Got it,"
Eleonora whispered to herself as she turned around to walk out of her room and straight down the stairs, into the kitchen where she usually waited for Josephine to finish cooking so that they could eat together.
She walked into the kitchen and instead of seeing the long black hair she was used to, Eleonora saw chestnut brown hair as she stopped.
There was only one person who had that colour of hair in the house at the moment and that person was none other than her mother.
She looked around stunned and saw that the kitchen had used items here and there but overall it looked clean.
Rosaline felt a burning hole at the back of her head so she decided to check it out she turned around coming face to face with her daughter who looked surprised by everything she was seeing.
"What are you doing?!"
Entering the kitchen, Eleonora was stunned to see her mother messing around with kitchen utensils as she moved from one place to another.
Well, maybe messing around was not quite the right word but that was what it looked like to the young woman because she had never seen her mother in an actual kitchen her whole life.
It was such an odd scene that she just had to stand still for a while as she watched the woman clang the pots against each other.
Her mother had always been the typical classy lady who never ventured into the kitchen because the chefs and maids were there to take care of all her needs.
Eleonora was even sure the lady didn't know to turn on a gas stove so what was she doing in her kitchen?
The young lady had to take a step back and actually rearrange her thoughts before forcing some words out.
"What are you doing here, mother?"
Eleanora squinted her eyes at her
mother trying to figure her out.
Her mother stared back at her with slightly widened eyes as though she wasn't expecting her to be here.
"She's making breakfast for me obviously," Mr Vito answered Eleonora as he walked into the kitchen and walked round the island in the centre.
"Since when do you know how to cook? Wait, don't answer that. I don't care," she huffed.
Eleonora wanted to smack herself in the face for asking such a question but you couldn't blame the young woman as she really didn't know her mother could cook.
She didn't want to deal with the early morning drama so she turned around and went to sit in the dining room while she waited for Josephine.
Josephine walked into the dining room a few minutes later with plates in her hands and Eleonora had a full-blown smile on her face as she watched the woman place the plates neatly on the table.
"Sorry, I'm late. I had to take a quick shower after preparing breakfast," Josephine explained as she sat down next to the young woman.
"I have told you and will keep telling you, you do not have to apologize for anything, mum, and besides, I totally understand so please do not apologize again or I will have to rethink my sleep schedule,"
Eleonora smirked as she said the last part because she knew she had struck somewhere deep and that Josephine would go all mama bear mode on her in just a few seconds.
She slowly counted in her head.
One. Two. And three.
"YOUNG LADY, ARE YOU TRYING TO BLACKMAIL ME?" Josephine's eyes glared at Eleonora as she belted out.
The young lady was unbothered as she simply shrugged her shoulders unapologetically.
"Mayyybe." The woman dragged as she purposely wanted to annoy Josephine
What caught her off guard was that the woman was just watching her as she arranged her cutleries to eat.
"I know what you are trying to do but I have to say, it won't work, Missy. Now, eat up and go to work,"
Eleonora feigned hurt as she clenched her chest.
"I am innocent in this. And why are you sending me packing, mother?
I did nothing wrong," she pouted.
Eleonora stared at Josephine with innocent eyes but the woman was trying hard not to fall into temptation because her puppy eyes had their way of melting her heart.
"It is definitely not working this time so hurry up, girl. I gotta clean up the house soon and you need to go to work soon enough after all you mentioned that you don't like going late. Whatever happened to that, huh?"
Josephine looked at Eleonora who just cleared her throat while concentrating on her food and just when Josephine thought that the lady had finally given up, she just had to prove her wrong once again.
"When my favourite person in the whole world cooks for me and also makes time for breakfast with me, I have all the reasons to go late to work and besides don't forget. I am the boss," Eleonora smirked just as Josephine face palmed herself.
There was no point in correcting the cheeky young woman as she had thick skin that could shatter knives made of steel.
Josephine smacked the woman behind her head and Eleonora rubbed the spot with a pout on her face.
"Ouch Jossy that hurt," she sighed.
The woman shrugged while putting food on her plate and answering with a nonchalant comment.
"I know,"
"Hmph!"
Eleonora disregarded the action that happened earlier because she knew there was no use pursuing a case with the elder woman.
After serving the amount of food she thought she could stomach, she focused on the food in front of her and grabbed her cutlery to dig in but just as the food got to the entrance of her mouth the door opened and she looked up at the entrance.
Of course, she sent the food in her mouth as she looked at the commotion happening or about to happen in front of her.
"Don't eat yet!"
"Don't eat yet!" Rosaline rushed in from the kitchen as she quickly placed the food she prepared on the table.
Eleonora stared at the woman in shock as she swallowed the food in her mouth even after her mother interrupted.
She was seated in her luxury dining room which had its walls drowned with a pristine white paint with a few intricates of golden strikes as ornaments.
There were a few ancient paintings and artefacts hanging on the walls giving the room a deep rich feeling.
The huge chandelier dangling from the ceiling directly above the long oak table brought rays of light over the place.
Eleonora thought she could at least have her breakfast in peace but it seemed she was wrong about that.
"What is this, mother?" Eleonora gritted, sounding irritated already.
"I thought father said you were preparing the meal for him? What is it doing on the dining table in front of me then?"
Eleonora asked again, without giving Rosaline time to answer the first one before firing another one.
"I was not preparing the meal for him. I was making it for you, on the contrary,"
Rosaline muttered as she felt nervous around her daughter.
Her father walked in at this moment and stopped next to her mother.
"Like I asked before, since when did you know how to cook and besides, are you attempting to poison me? I thought I already said yes to the betrothal and accepted my fate or was that not good enough for you and father?"
Eleonora stared at her mother and father straight on as the man was trying to contain himself from just blowing up.
How dare she talk to him like he was her subordinate? The audacity! He was her father for crying out loud! Father! Not her mere employee so of course, the man was annoyed beyond redemption but he contained himself because of the woman who was trying her hardest to please their daughter. After what Eleonora said the night before it seemed as if something went off in his wife's brain because the woman argued with him and even threatened him when he tried to reprimand her.He didn't care about anything his wife decided to come up with because he had never made a mistake in the way he trained Eleonora but of course, Eleonora will beg to differ on that one."Mother, can you answer me or do I have to finish my food first before you do?" Eleonora smiled a bit as if she didn't just indirectly insult her mother. Not blatantly insulting but her father wouldn't agree with that."I do not know why you even thought for a second that I will try to poison you but-" Rosaline was interrupted just when
"Back to what I was staying, the chef tasted the meal I prepared and was absolutely speechless for a few minutes and the servants there with us at that time thought that he had a minor heart attack because the man was immovable and only kept blinking his eyes every now and then and when they tried to take the plate from him, he nearly punched someone," Rosaline laughed as she remembered that time "Don't touch my plate, fat heads! He would say, Rosaline, the dish you made is absolutely spectacular in looks and taste. I must say that I am proud to have you as a student but now you have graduated and you passed beautifully," She smiled. "The chef was delighted as he said that and you could see how happy and proud he was from the look on his face. He had the biggest smile I have ever seen on his face and because of that I was able to see the set of pearl white teeth he had but was hiding underneath the scowl wore all the time I went
After the curt answer, my father looked me straight in the eye and repeated it one more time as if to solidify his rejection before he stood up from the head chair and stalked menacingly towards me. "You will in no way study that downgrading course, do you hear me?!" My father barked at me. "What a waste of time and talent! I have not spent so much time investing in you just for you to tell me that you want to go into cooking like a damn lowlife! I didn't raise a nobody chef you hear me? You are going to study business at the university once you finish high school and you are going to write applications to all the universities which will be my choices set for you, and then after your years in university you will marry my friend's son Vito and that's that!" He commanded, leaving me no room to object. Angel, my father looked at me with his blazing blue eyes that had high flames in them and the rest of the family members remained quiet because they were trying hard to be invisible a
Eleonora never lacked anything material-wise and when it came to the matter of her parents' love and affection, she didn't lack there because she had Josephine there to make up for it when her parents decided she was just an item that could be picked and dropped anytime they felt like it. Josephine cuddled Eleonora who was harshly wiping the tears off of her face, she had told herself time and time again that she wouldn't cry for her parents, her father especially but here she was wiping the remaining evidence left to prove that she was just bawling her eyes out because of her parents. The woman who had a slight bulge under her eyes raised her head to look at Josephine and the latter smiled at her encouraging her to try the whole smiling game and she did it, she offered a slight smile to her favourite person in the world while Josephine pat her back while rubbing circles as well, making her calm down instantly. "Do you want to talk about it?"Josephine asked in a soft voice. "What'
The frustration and pain she was going through were just too much for her to handle at the moment."You took me away, far far away to a deserted island where it was just me, you and the bodyguards with the helpers on that island and no one else. You made me work from home, overseeing my businesses while you kept me locked there for years and then every once in a while, you brought me back to the same location as Elly which happened to be the mansion in Spain,""I would spend all my time pleading with you to let me see my child but you'd never agree and you'd threaten to divorce me and take full custody of her, I couldn't care less about the divorce part but taking full custody?! You were breaking and destroying me inside, I was completely shattered so much that I had no choice but to push emotions to the back of my mind!!" Rosaline hissed."I was your pawn and you made sure to keep it that way for a very long time but not anymore, I am filing a divorce and Eleonora is already an adult
"Yea, I refuse to call that man my father, all I know is that he better pray to all his stars that he doesn't cross paths with me because if he does, I'd teach him a lesson he would never be able to come back from in this life or the next life," she hissed menacingly. "But of course, for that to happen I need the go sign from you as permission before I do anything to that scum and all I know is that if he actually tries to take his negativity to another woman and tries to make her suffer as much as you did, then I will personally wipe him off the face of this earth because someone who is willing to repent would not commit the same crime twice," she threatened under her breath. "Mum when you wake up I want us to have our time together and hey, you can even teach me how to cook, if you want, of course, and then we'd have fun together while getting to know each other better, but for that to happen you have to wake up for me please," Eleonora pleaded with her unconscious mother to just
It got to the point that Eleonora had to put her palm on her mother's chest and hand every now and then to confirm that her heart was still heating and that her pulse was still active. Josephine walked into the room all fresh and clean, she cleared her throat announcing her presence in order not to wake Rosaline. "Any progress so far?" The woman asked curiously as she put the tray down on the centre table positioned in the couch area of her room. "Not yet, she's still passed out as a log and I am getting really worried." Eleonora stated as lines appeared on her forehead as she furrowed her brows in worry. "I should have just been a better daughter to her and helped her out instead of just standing by the side likes watching everything unfold while successfully eavesdropping on the conversation or more like argument she was having with that man. I never knew she went through so much just to have me and keep me safe away from that narcissist I unfortunately happen to call my father
''Good now on that note I have to tell you something, other than me Jossy has been checking up on you everytime do you mind if I bring her in so you two can say hi? And also so she won't bite my head off when she sees me for not telling her you're awake already, I am most definitely not looking to die now thank you very much." Eleonora said as she turned around to go call Josephine. Eleonora stood up and headed to the door after that to find Josephine on the other side of the door in the hallway as she opened up, the woman was pacing around back and forth while anxiously waiting for some news on the condition of Rosaline. She till looked stunning as usual but she was worried so she didn't notice when Elly was next to her, she was brought out of her own reverie when the woman put her hand on her shoulder effectively making her stop moving around and coming to a standstill instead."Any news? How is she? Is she awake yet?" Josey bombarded Elly with questions not giving her a break to an
