Chapter 16 An Accident

Caitlyn's POV

Early the following morning, I was greeted by the last person I wanted to encounter: Bard. He stood tall and imposing, his expressionless face radiating an air of coldness. A prominent scar on his neck hinted at past injuries he must have endured.

"Good morning, Miss Caitlyn," Bard's voice rang out as he stationed himself at the door like an unmovable mountain.

"You don't need to tail me everywhere I go; I value my freedom," I remarked, giving Bard a puzzled look before resuming my path to the meeting spot Leona and I had agreed upon.

"Alpha's orders dictate that I ensure your safety at all times," Bard responded in his monotonous tone, sounding akin to a malfunctioning clock.

"Please, I'm just going on a date with my best friend, not heading into battle. Could you please give me some space?" I implored, casting a concerned glance at Bard.
