Chapter 6...Leaving 1

Shane reluctantly pulled away from me and in that moment I wanted to pull him back but low growl coming from downstairs and a second crash along with a scream, stopped me. My heart skipped a beat and my eyes met Shane's dark eyes. His warm body moved away from mine and I unconsciously released a longing sigh, until his hand grabbed mine and we were swiftly walking down the dark hall. From the view at the top of the stairs, the sight was grim.

3 persons stood before the crumbled door, several windows held broken glasses. As we swiftly descended the stairs, Shane's hand released mine and I noticed more strange persons making a mess of the living room and kitchen.

"Killian! What is the meaning of this?" Shane yelled as his stepped off the last step of the stairs.

Killian was a tall and muscular with a 3 thin scars slicing through his neck. As Shane went to stand before him, I noticed that they stood at roughly the same height. The tension thickened around them as we waited for Killian's response. For a split second I noticed something akin to fear crossed his face.

He chuckled, slapping the chest of the guy on his right, a burly man with a large beard. The man joined in on command.

"The last I recall, I am the Alpha and this is my land. This house is mine and everything within it…mine," Killian spoke with a latino accent.

I glanced towards where the twins and Kylen stood. Kylen was calm and not phased by the wolves taking claim and looting his home. His hands rubbed Chloe's back reassuringly as she hid her face in her father's clothes. Cleo stood arms crossed, glaring daggers in my direction. I felt my heart quickened at this.

"This house belongs to me and my family, Killian and I know you know this," Shane replied calmly.

"What I know is that omegas such as yourself don't get to own shit," Killian sneered stepping closer to Shane, his aura menacing.

I furrowed my brow, narrowing my eyes at Kylen. He said that Shane was a lycan. If he was a lycan, why was he letting a werewolf talk to him like that.

'Lycan by spirit, not completely by blood,' Kylen's voice was loud and clear in my mind.

I tilted my head and exhale, keeping eye contact. 'What does that mean?' I struggled to send to him.

Survival.

A single word was all I heard. Shane had to ascend to truly become a lycan. For now he was vulnerable.

"So everything you think you own is mine," Killian whispered to Shane, his green eyes falling towards where I stood on the staircase. "Including her."

I glanced away momentarily.

"She's the one who attacked us," the rat Roderick snitched, pointing his bony finger towards me. He stepped forward from behind the quiet guy who stood to the left of Killian. Damon also stepped from behind him, glancing towards Cleo with a strange emotion in his eyes. I did not miss the way Chloe flinched when she noticed him.

Shane gulped as he glanced towards me, a pleading look in his eyes. One that I didn't understand.

"Listen gentleman, can we all just settle this in a civilized manner. I'm sure there is a reasonable explanation for this undoubted misunderstanding," Kylen attempted to fix the situation. I had began to step down the stairs when suddenly a loud roar shook the old building. I paused, my heart rate accelerating as Killian roared in Kylen's direction. All the wolves in the room paused, dipping their head low. All accept Shane who instead glanced away from him, blood vessel in his neck bulging.

"What do you want, Killian," he gritted out.

Killian turned to him with a glare. It was obvious that Shane was an Alpha wolf, who wasn't easily dominated. That irked Killian. He hated him.

"I want justice," he said slowly, returning his eyes to mine. "She humiliated my wolves, attacked them without provocation, if I let such insolence go unpunished then what kind of leader who I be," Killian said through his clenched teeth.

"You'd be a merciful one," Shane told him.

Killian chuckled incredulously, staring at Shane as if he was a fool. "Cassian Prime Cole Rodriguez," Killian paused furrowing his brow. "Shane is the nickname isn't it. Your baby sister gave you that name." Killian motioned to Chloe and Cleo. A chill fell down my spine, as I noticed a female wolf drawing closer.

"I'll make things easier, one of them in exchange for your little girlfriend," Killian said with devious smirk.

"Christina Vera Cole…Rodriguez," Shane retorted or I guess Cassian.

Killian physically stiffened and all the wolves in the house froze. Who was Christina? Was she his mom? Was she really this scary?

"We should take this outside, negotiate something peaceful and calm." Shane said, motioning to the open doorway. "I won't show you this kindness again," he added staring straight ahead. In those words I felt a beast stir, telling the occupants of the room that it was present.

Killian nodded slowly, gingerly stepping out of the house. He whistled and the wolves that had forcefully entered the house began to follow him. Damon lingered behind eyeing Shane with curiosity in his eyes. Shane waited until the last wolf left the house before he stepped towards the door. He glanced towards his father and then tilted his head towards me and went outside.

My heart skipped a beat as he disappeared into the night.

"Girls go upstairs and pack your bags," Kylen said hastily, rushing towards the doorway.

"What? We can't leave! You can't leave! They'll find you," Chloe said tears streaming down her face as she hugged herself tightly.

"Dad, this is your house, isn't it?" Cleo asked stepping towards her father.

"It doesn't matter if its mine or not. We need to leave. You girls need to go back to school and this place is no longer safe for us," he said gripping his daughter's shoulder, his gray eyes focused on hers.

"What about Shane?" I finally spoke.

Kylen glanced at me briefly and turned his gaze towards the door. "He'll be fine," he muttered under his breath absentmindedly, his mind traveling to some far away distant land.

"You don't deserve to call him by that name. This is all your fault! If you hadn't mind your own bloody business and stayed out of our lives, my brother wouldn't be paying for your mistakes," Cleo turned her wrath towards me, taking slow threatening steps towards me.

"Cleo stop," Chloe tried to calm her.

"No, she's the reason why he got bitten by that creature and weakened. Only friends and family are allowed to call my brother by the nickname that I gave home and your not friend or family," she said angrily.

With furrowed brows I watched her come to stand before me. Why was she so angry at me? Did she really like Damon that much? He was a little asshole, who was bullying her sister. I opened my mouth to defend myself but Cleo wasn't done.

"I knew that you were bad luck the second I saw you and now my brother will pay the price." She said, staring at me as if I was something distasteful. "If you ever pry into my mind again, I will break yours," she whispered to me and then ran up the stairs.

Chloe followed closely behind muttering an apology for her sister.

It wasn't a good feeling, knowing that her anger was justified. All I had ever wanted was my magic–lies, all I had ever wanted was power and to be glorified. I wanted to be the powerful unbeatable hero, who everyone loved. I miss used my magic and lost a potential friend and…maybe even a boyfriend. I clenched my jaw, I hated myself.

"Don't worry he'll be fine. He'll probably be back in the morning," Kylen finally spoke with uncertainty. He turned towards me and sighed as he noticed the guilt on my face.

"Its not your fault, Taiti," he told me with sincerity. So he was listening but made no effort to stop his daughter from dragging me through the mud.

"Shane…Cassian has always had a complicated future. An accident when he was younger altered it, an accident of which I was the orchestrator. So if anyone is to be blamed its m–,"

"My father," I stopped him from finishing his sentence. "Xerxes is the reason why I am here…I need to stop him and save my mother," I told him, my eyes glossing over with unshed tears.

Kylen stared at me for a few seconds before he nodded and sighed, glancing around at his once beautiful and neat house.

"I really did like this house," he muttered closing his eyes.

"Are you just going to leave it," I asked appreciating the change of conversation.

Kylen shrugged. "I might sell it to an old friend, he collects haunted houses," he stated casually, scratching his cheek.

"What!"
