AURORA’S POV
Laying on the bed, I kept staring into the blank space. How did I get entangled in this mess?
Tyson was an egoistic, cold-blooded killer. He didn’t even flinch when that cop was killed. I had a feeling that Tyson ordered people to be killed just like we order food in a restaurant.
I massaged my head trying to wrap my head over the things that had happened. Michael just walked away as if in a trance.
I had a feeling that he would text all my friends that I was in Texas. No one would come looking for me and I couldn’t call anyone. In short, I was completely screwed.
The door creaked open drawing me out of my thoughts.
“I have brought food for you,” Aslan said walking in.
“I don’t want to eat anything…” I said lowering my eyes. He was crazy to think that I would feel like eating after today’s incident.
He ignored my statement and placed the plate in front of me saying, “ Your baby needs nutrition.”
I tried to gently push the plate away from me but he kept moving it towards me. In the end, I let out an exasperated sigh and gave the plate a shove.
He wasn’t expecting me to use so much force. The plate overturned and his clothes got dirty.
“Damn! Why do you have to be so difficult?” He shouted wiping his clothes with his napkin.
I couldn’t restrain myself and said in an equally loud voice, “I am not used to watching murders for entertainment. Do you have any idea how I am feeling right now?”
His face turned expressionless and he asked coldly, “You won’t eat then…”
“Nope.”
“Fine! You forced me to do this.” He said taking out a syringe from his pocket. I watched in horror as he drew some of his blood.
He grasped my arm wordlessly and injected his blood into me saying, “My blood is powerful enough to keep you alive through the week. Let’s see if you change your mind by then.”
Then, he stormed out of the room and locked the door behind him. It all happened so fast that I didn’t get a chance to react.

I woke up with a start drenched in a cold sweat. I drew in deep breaths to calm my raging heart. It was that nightmare again.
I looked out of the window to find that the sun had risen. No one had come to check on me for three days. I felt pangs of hunger now and then but never felt weak. Aslan’s blood was indeed potent.
The guilt and loneliness weighed me down. It was slowly but surely driving me over the edge. I had no idea how long I could endure this. I wanted to talk to someone even if it was just Aslan.
The door opened and a girl walked in with a tray of food. My heart skipped a beat when I saw who it was.
“You are the one who killed the cop…”
“I killed him because I had to. No one has lived after defying Tyson. The sooner you understand that, the better it would be for you.” She said placing the food in front of me.
My stomach churned as the tantalizing aroma tickled my nose. I was so tempted to dig in but I held back.
“Have it Aurora. You need the food.”
“I don’t, Aslan injected me with his blood.”
“You are so naïve, Aurora. His blood will only keep your baby strong. Lack of food will weaken you eventually.”
I shouldn’t have been surprised. They cared only about the baby.
“What will happen after the baby is born?” I wondered aloud.
“You will be killed. Tyson doesn’t like to have any weakness.”
A shudder coursed through me at her declaration. Deep down I knew this but it was another thing to hear it in words.
“Is there no way I can escape this place?”
“You can… but…”
“But what?”
“You have to trust me…”
I looked into her eyes but it was devoid of any feelings, her face an expressionless mask. It was impossible to say whether she was a friend or a foe. In the end, I agreed. She was my best bet.
Three days later…
I stretched my arms and let out a deep sigh as the fresh air slapped my face. It felt so good to be in the open after so long.
“I can’t believe that Aslan agreed to let me come to the garden for a walk,” I said, twiddling my toes in the grass.
“It did require a bit convincing but he agreed. Moreover, Aslan believes that his security system is impenetrable.”
He was right. The security was top-notch; electrical fencing, CCTV cameras, and dozens of bodyguards paroling night and day. Only a fool would try to escape.
Lina came to a halt in front of a large oak tree. She smiled at me and said, “Ready to escape.”
“What? Do you have a death wish? Can’t you see the number of guards?”
“Don’t be such a ninny, Aurora. Just come with me…” She said dragging me behind the tree.
I resisted the urge to laugh as she took out a large brass key and inserted it into the trunk of the tree. To my surprise, a door swung open revealing something like a lift.
“Wow! This was so well camouflaged. I would have never have guessed.”
“I have been working on this for a while now. Don’t scream it will alert the others.” She warned before pressing a button.
A gasp escaped my mouth as the lift dropped suddenly. After a few moments, it came to a halt only to move to the right.
I grasped her hand tightly. If she hadn't warned me, I would have been screaming my lungs out. I was so relieved when it came to a halt that I hugged her.
“It's okay, hun… you will soon be free.” She said as she pulled away.
The lift opened into a garage. We took the nearest car and drove out. Soon we were on the highway.
“I can’t believe that I am going home again. You are my knight in shining armor.” I said putting my head out of the window.
It felt so good to be free again. Everything seemed so much brighter. Even the water I was drinking seemed so sweet.
ASLAN’S POV I found Tyson buried in files when I walked into his cabin. His face was laced with worry.“Is there a problem, brother?”“Hmm… The number of werewolves in the city has increased drastically. There have been some attacks too.”“Didn’t we sign a pact of peace with them? What is so important that they are willing to risk their lives?”“I think I know what they are after… Look at this…” He said handing me a green file.My eyebrows furrowed as I asked, “Why are you checking Lina’s profile again? Don’t tell me that you think she is the traitor. Do you have to be so paranoid?”“I am sure that she is the traitor. She is the one who tipped the werewolves about ‘The Heart of Magic.’”“You can’t be serious. She saved your life…”“Just to
AURORA’S POVI woke up to a strange buzzing sound. It took me a while to realize that it was the incessant chatter. They were discussing something.I felt so warm and cozy that I didn’t feel like opening my eyes. The panic and uneasiness I had felt over the past week dissipated. I drifted in and out of sleep catching only parts of the conversation going on.Warm and heavy breathing on my face startled me and I snapped open my eyes. I gasped as I met the most beautiful pair of eyes I had ever seen; grey with golden streaks. He lowered his head and bit my lower lip. The sharp sting brought me back to my senses. I pushed him away and raised myself only to realize that I was sitting on his lap.I felt a surge of blood flush my face and my ears burned. Flustered I tried to get up but he pulled me back, making me sit on his lap.I should have felt panic about finding myself alone with a stranger in a large desolate roo
ASLAN’S POVFor the last couple of hours, I was going crazy in search of Aurora. I was irked when I saw Tyson sipping his drink calmly.“Are you not worried at all, brother? Even if you don’t care about Aurora, you should at least care for YOUR baby…”He raised his head and snorted before saying, “Relax brother... We will find her soon.”“No way, this is all my fault. I shouldn’t have trusted Lina. I can’t rest until she is found.”“If you want to tire yourself, go ahead brother…” He said with a smirk and got back to drinking.I let out a long deep sigh. Only he could be so relaxed while his child was missing. I had to ask someone else for help. I took out my phone and texted Zarina to come as soon as possible.Out of the corner of my eyes, I caught my brother smiling victoriously at his phone.I took a few steps towards him a
AURORA’S POVI sat on the edge of the bed gripping it tightly. I tried hard to stem the flow of tears down my cheeks but in vain.Tyson’s words kept resounding in my ears. His was filled with so much hatred. If I was given a chance, I would choose Caleb over Tyson anytime. So what if he was the leader of the Mafia, he had been very kind to me.“Thinking about my brother, are you?” A sweet voice sounded near me causing me to jump.I raised my head to see an enchantress. Everything about her was perfection; deep, blue eyes juxtaposing her long golden locks, cherry red lips, and a perfect figure. Her face flushed slightly and she said, “Thank you for your high appraisal. Some people think that my beauty makes me a weak person.”“How did you know… can you read my mind?” I asked in an appalled voice.“I can’t read minds but I can sense moods. With ye
CALEB’S POVI was busy going over a few files when I sensed a sudden change in the environment. It was so silent that it seemed to be shouting in my ears.On a whim, I checked the CCTV footage. I was stunned to see that most of my den was empty. The place that was usually flooded with men was desolate. On instinct, I drew out both my guns and went to patrol the quarters. The few men who were left were of a low rank and couldn’t possibly know the whereabouts of the others.I ventured into the conference room to find it barren except for Lina. She was so engrossed in watching the screen that she didn’t even sense my presence.“Lina! Where is everyone?” I called out as I walked in.“Alpha Caleb! What a pleasant surprise!” Lina said in a sweet voice, turning towards me.My heart skipped a beat at her tone. What was she up to now?I pointed my gun at her and said in a cold voice, “Don&
ASLAN’S POV I was walking close behind Tyson and Aurora when I was obstructed by an invisible barrier. Tyson turned around and smirked at me. The next moment the barrier was gone.“What was that?” I asked, catching up with him.“I had a very powerful witch cast a boundary spell around this palace. The boundary is linked to me. So, no one can enter or leave without my wish.”“Does that mean we all are your prisoners now?” I asked him incredulously.“Don’t waste your time on unnecessary details. We have a trial to conduct.” He said as he trotted ahead of us.I stole a sideward glance at Aurora. Her face was pale and her steps faltered slightly as she walked.I fell into step with Aurora and said, “Are you alright?”She let out a long, deep sigh and replied, “I don’t know, Aslan… but thanks for asking.”She had
CALEB’S POV It broke me to see Aurora crying like this. I was tempted to attack those vile flamers and teach them a lesson but Aurora needed me.“I think some dreams do come true. I wanted to hug you, from the day you saved me…”Her words turned my heart into mush. I tightened my grasp around her and said, “ You don’t have to go there ever again. We have Aslan, so we can keep giving you his blood.”“But, Caleb…” She started saying something but I placed my finger on her lips. I didn’t want her to worry about technical details. My head was buried in her shoulder and her phone was in the back pocket of her jeans. So, when her phone buzzed I was the first to see the notification.Aurora didn’t seem to have noticed the beep. I took out the phone to give it to her but halted when I saw Tyson’s name.I felt like a bolt of lightning had struck m
ASLAN’S POV I had been waiting for a very long time for Aurora to arrive. Rowan had confirmed that she left the den about ten minutes ago. When ten more minutes passed, I drove the car towards the den. I knew it was risky but I had to find her.I had moved about a mile from the den when I saw a strange blue light. The light was so bright that I had to close my eyes. When I finally managed to open my eyes the light was gone and a girl was standing there. You can imagine my surprise when I realized that it was Aurora. I looked around but I couldn’t figure out the source of the light even with my keen eyesight.Whoever used that power wasn’t someone I wanted to mess with. I stopped the car beside Aurora, pulled her inside, and drove away from there at full speed. When we were at a safe distance, I stole a glance at Aurora. She was sitting like a statue, paler than the ghost.“Aurora…
