Chapter 10

Emeraude struggled to wake up the morning after her father's party. Cassian had stayed for a while but needed to leave; after all, they were planning to return home that day. She got up and chose a loose dress before heading to the bathroom to take a shower and do her morning routine. With her preparations finished, she left her things somewhat organized.

Walking to the kitchen, she saw her mother washing the breakfast dishes. Emeraude picked up an apple from the counter and took a bite. "Good morning!" she greeted, leaning against the counter.

"Good morning, dear," her mother replied with a faint smile. "Do you really have to leave today?" she asked, pouting.

"Don't make that face, Mom," Emeraude chuckled softly. "I have to. I have some clients this week."

"Your visit was so brief; we barely had a chance to do anything," her mother lamented. "We only went to the beach... By the way, there's something I'd like to talk to you about, dear, it's about your boyfriend."
