Chapter 9:,CHLOE’S POV

My heart raced as I watched the tension escalate between Mr. Williams and his wife. The air in the office felt stifling, suffused with Layla's palpable anger.

"I can't work like this, Layla," Mr. Williams said, his voice strained. "Taking out your frustration on the staff won't change what happened."

Layla's eyes blazed with fury. "Don't you dare tell me how to behave! You think you can control me just because you're the boss?"

I shifted uncomfortably in her seat, feeling the weight of their argument bearing down on her. She glanced around, noticing the unease among her coworkers.

"It's not about control," Mr. Williams insisted, his tone firm. "But you can't keep lashing out at everyone. It's not fair to them, or me."

Layla's lip curled into a sneer. "And what about what's fair to me? Do you think I wanted this? You think I wanted to lose our baby?"
