Dominic's POV
"F*uck off!" My voice echoed in the empty hall.
The maid shivered with fear, and the tray fell from her hands, crashing to the floor.
"How many times do I need to tell you I don't want to be distracted at this hour?" My eyes glowed red, and my dominating pheromones almost made her choke on the fear.
"But Alpha, you haven't eaten anything since yesterday,” she replied, her eyes welling with pending tears.
I released a deep sigh, realizing I’d scared the poor woman for no reason. I worked to calm myself. My wolf, Carden, roared furiously within me. "Leave," I said to the maid, needing her to get out of my sight. My temper and the aggression were getting out of hand. I needed to keep my dominating hormones in check, and I’d failed to do so.
It was not having a mate by my side. That’s what was making me act like an animal, what was allowing Carden to override me, to make impulsive decisions in my place.
I turned to look at the painting of my beautiful late luna, Isabella, smiling brightly. It had been three years since she died in a massacre initiated by her father. The thought of it made my blood boil.
She had fought for our borders as a soldier, and the pain of losing her was still unbearable. I couldn't forget her scent and the way her eyes shone whenever I kissed her.
I had promised myself I would always keep her in my memory and that I wouldn’t find another mate. But keeping that promise was becoming impossible.
Isabella and I had chosen each other on our eighteen birthdays. But she hadn’t been my destined mate, nor I hers. And now that she was gone, my wolf was growing impatient. Carden needed to find his destined mate. He wouldn’t tolerate remaining single while his real mate was alive.
For me, things were different. I didn't want to break the promise I’d made. I would never love anyone as much I loved Isabella.
However, to ensure the safety of my pack and to keep my sanity, I needed to find a mate. My wolf needed it. If I didn’t mate by the next full moon, Carden would overtake me and go on a killing spree to release his aggression. As it was, there were already times where I had to take my anger out on the prisoners to calm Carden.
Even fucking the mistresses and different betas didn't seem to help. I was never satisfied, and the voices in my head never ceased.
Still seething, I kicked the door of my bedroom open and walked outside. The soldiers standing guard flinched. They’d grown scared of my temper. No one in the pack seemed happy. All were on edge, fearing my next move. All prayed I’d find a mate soon.
"Alpha Dominic," the mistress said with wide eyes when she found me standing at her door. I had f*ucked her senseless just a few hours before, and she didn't want me again. I was too cruel to her.
She kept a neutral expression, but I sensed her fear. Carden sensed her fear, and it only excited him more.
At the same time, she wasn’t what he wanted. "Argh!” I slammed the door to her chamber in frustration.
I slumped into the chair beside me. My only chance to find a mate was at the yearly ball organized by the Stone Moon Pack. Though I didn't like the Stone Moon Pack’s fat, arrogant alpha, almost all alphas, betas and gammas attended with their beautiful daughters. After a year of living in aggression and denial, I had to admit I had no choice but to go.
The night of the ball, the carriages were prepared and filled with gifts. I got dressed in my best clothes. Between my cologne and my blond hair set with gel, I would attract every female I came across.
On the path to the Stone Moon pack, my wolf began behaving weirdly. He took over, making me growl and shift halfway into my wolf’s form without any control. I hurried out of the carriage to ensure the safety of my members.
Then I stopped resisting and allowed the full shift into my magnificent giant wolf. I was successor of the moon goddess, which lent me a powerful demeanor different from most. No alpha could compete against me. My paws pushed the ground beneath me, and I let my wolf run free in the woods. After an hour of hunting innocent foxes, my wolf finally calmed.
The nearby sound of flowing water met my ears. With slow steps, I padded toward the noise. A sweet smell drifted on the air, an almost maddening and addictive scent. I ran after it like it was an oasis in the desert. Carden’s aggression calmed, replaced by a different sort of excitement. I jumped on a large rock that stood over a body of water and found the most beautiful girl I had ever seen.
Her long hair draped over her shoulders, and she appeared to be entranced, or maybe soothing herself. Her soft pink lips were parted, and her eyes were closed. She was half immersed in the water, with the other half exposed, granting me a wonderful view of her beautiful breasts. Her pink nipples were erect, and I wanted to shift and suck on them. My wolf wanted her more than anything in the world.
Carden circled within my mind, filled with excitement. The sweet scent captured him.
Mate...
The sight of bruises on her body angered me, though. Who could do that to her?
My wolf growled. I froze at the sound.
Her eyes opened. For a second, she paused, peering at my giant wolf. She looked equally as mesmerized by him as I was by her. Then she scented the air. She could smell my scent, too. As mates, we both released pheromones that would attract one another in the most erotic way.
I padded forward with a thought of touching her, but her expression changed to one of fear. Next thing I knew, she shifted to a beautiful, small wolf and ran. I couldn't take my eyes off her, but my wolf panicked when she almost vanished from his sight.
I couldn't lose my mate after finally having found her, so I followed. Compared to me, she was slow, but she didn't look back. Not once.
Instead, she ran until she reached what looked like a secret passage into a palace. A palace? My senses came back, and I realized where she’d gone. She was a member of the Stone Moon Pack.
“Hide for now," I said, shifting back to my human form. "I will make you mine soon enough.”
I entered the palace through the main entrance, then went to the guest room. The soldiers were already waiting there. I mind-linked with my beta, telling him to meet me. The maids appeared jittery, likely afraid I would snap at them.
Instead, I smiled. Confused looks passed over their faces.
"Why don't you all go and check the place?" I said, straightening my clothes as I looked into the mirror.
"Yes... Yes, Alpha." They ran from the chamber.
My beta, Alexander, entered the room and greeted me.
"Alpha, you look in a good mood today." He smiled, noticing my happy demeanor.
"Yes, because I found a luna for the pack," I replied.
"What? Really! That's great news." Beta Alexander looked both shocked and pleased. "Who is she?" he asked.
"Don't know yet. But I’m sure she’ll join the ball. Even if she doesn’t, my wolf can smell her from a distance."
"Yes, even mine can smell Carolina,” said Beta Alexander, blushing when mentioning his mate.
"We will leave as soon as I find her. So don't open too many bags," I told him.
The beta nodded and left me to rest. The pack was finally going to have a luna. It was indeed great news for them.
Astrid's POV The palace was decorated, and every servant seemed too busy to even lift their heads. Wasting no time, I got ready and joined my mother in the queue, wearing my mask this time. It made me feel safer than the last time I had gone without. The tables were set and all the food arranged. The palace was beautifully decorated for the party. The walls were lined with glittering golden drapes, and the floors were adorned with luxurious Persian rugs. Delicate ivory sculptures stood in the corners, and sumptuous velvet cushions filled the seating areas.Elegant chandeliers hung from the ceilings and added a hint of sparkle to the atmosphere. In the center of the room was a large fountain overflowing with fragrant roses, and an array of flickering candles illuminated the room.Outside, a grand fountain sparkled in the moonlight, and the grounds were alive with colorful lanterns. It was sure to be a night to remember. The guests began to arrive, and we increased our pace. I placed
Astrid's POV:I was going into my first heat, and it was because of the alpha pheromone lingering around me. I couldn't believe it. The pain was excruciating and my heart beat faster than it ever had. My pussy was wet and my nipples became erect. My clothes irritated me, too, and I tried to tear them off. An angry growl echoed outside the dungeon room. My mate. I banged on the door to get his attention. He tried to open it, but the iron door wouldn’t budge. When he stopped, it frightened me. I wanted him near, and the thought of him leaving scared me. Still, I heard nothing for several moments. Then came a loud bang. The door broke into pieces, and I cowered, covering myself with my arms to avoid injury. He entered, towering and filled with power and authority, and I bathed in his sweet scent."MINE!" he growled, with flaming eyes and sharp canines on display. It looked as if his wolf was in full control, and he was struggling to stay connected to his human side. The possessiveness
Astrid's POV:Alpha Jonathan threw me across the room, and my head hit the wall. Before I could recover, he landed a harsh kick on one of my hips. Part of me knew what I did was a big mistake, and it meant punishment from the king. But another part of me wanted to know why it mattered so much to them that I had mated with my mate. It was such a common turning point of my life and everyone was aware that one day I would find my mate too. "She ruined it!” Princess Amaira screamed. “She snatched my happiness from me!"Clouded with doubt and confusion, I got to my feet. "What did I do?" I asked, my throat burning from crying and screaming. The fire in the king's eyes grew, and he grabbed my throat, lifting me into the air, choking me. I couldn’t breathe and feared I’d die if he didn’t release me."You seduced the Great Alpha Dominic Knight when he was drunk, and now you’re acting innocent? You ungrateful bitch! Amaira was supposed to be with him, not you!"Suddenly it grew too difficult
Alpha Dominic's POV:I could feel the pain my mate was sufferingand didn't hold Carden back from attacking anyone who came his way. He wantedto tear open the princess's heart, the one who had tried to make us intoxicatedenough to mate with her. Carden angrilyroared inside my chest and attacked the Alpha standing closer to us. Theconfusion and aggression arising because of the situation was tearing me down. But we knew that punishing the culprits was not as important as taking care ofour mate who was crying out in pain. And why did they want to kill my mate?I took her into my arms and carried her toa bed in the guest room. Her body was sore and she wasn't recovering at a goodspeed. I mind linked with my beta and ordered him to fetch the pack doctor. As I placed her on the bed, I noticed hersoft features. She didn't look a day older than eighteen—I hoped she was atleast that old. I moved a few strands of hair that covered her face. The footsteps of my men approached, and an
Astrid's POV:My eyes snapped open after a very horrificnightmare I had. My head was spinning and the memories resurfaced after fewminutes. My mate had saved me from being dead and he even fought off the Alphafor me. My back hurt and I wasn't able to lift my neck from the pillow. "Shift. We will heal quickly. You knowwe have done it many times. " Malessia spoke with a sweet voice. It was just as usual when the king orprincess used to punish me and I wasn't allowed to have a day off. I had beenbeaten worse than that and the only thing which I was proud of was the abilityof my wolf to heal in its primal form. With lots of struggle, I stood up fromthe bed and shifted. It was too painful and I was worried if it could go wrong. The open wounds on my limbs began fillingup and the fur came over my flesh. I heard few of my bones reassembling ontheir bone. It was unbearable and I wanted to howl in pain but let out amuffled voice to ease down the pain. After my wolf could no longe
Astrid's POV:Marilyn is a young maid with a deep set of brown orbs. Her curly hair was tied in a low bun, and the sleeves of her long gown were rolled up to her elbows. She quickly held the corner of my long gown, which was preventing me from moving. Her eyes ran over my few injuries, but she didn't ask me anything about them."How long have you been working here in the Royal chambers? " I asked her as we walked in the quiet and long corridor."It's around a year, Luna. I am not as experienced as others. " She worriedly replied as if I was asking her this question because I wanted to taunt her."You are perfect! For some reason, I never seem to have enough friends. With a grin on my face, she looked at me hopefully."You are so nice. The empire will love you, " Marilyn said in her childish voice.Within ten minutes, we stood before a beautiful chamber door. Marilyn asked me to enter it first while she followed behind me. The chamber was ten times larger than the small dungeon I lived
Astrid's POV:Alpha Dominic’s pheromones made me crazy as his fingers ran across my teary cheeks. I clutched his wrist as he encircled my mouth with his thumb. As we peered into each other's eyes, it was as though we were each searching for the answer to an unspoken question; the look between us said it all. Our connection couldn’t be broken. For our love was a truly special bond, as if we had been mated for a hundred years ago and knew each other well."Open your mouth, " he ordered. I followed his command, and he pushed his thumb between my lips. "Suck," he said, releasing a heavy breath. It was out of the ordinary for me to engage in sexual activity, but my emotions and his proximity rendered me shameless enough to do anything for him.He lowered his head and gave my collarbone a long, wet lick. I froze. My nipples, painfully erect, drawing my attention."I didn't tell you to stop!" He grabbed a fistful of my hair, stared into my soul, and pushed his thumb back into my mouth.Mem
Alpha Dominic's POV: "What’s wrong with you?" Carden shouted in my mind, angry with how I’d behaved toward his Luna.”And now, because of your mistress, she’s having second thoughts.” He demanded that we go for a run in the woods, so he could hunt some animals to relieve his frustration. "You need to calm down," I said flippantly. "Calm down? How can I calm down? What the hell were you going to tell her anyway? About your dead mate and that you don't need a woman in your life?” He wasn’t wrong, so I didn’t respond. What could I say? "Coward! Answer me," he demanded. "Yes. Okay. Are you happy now? Yes, I was going to tell her that she shouldn't expect anything from me other than a pack name and protection. Unlike you, I am not looking for love!" I roared. Carden quieted. Another fight with my wolf. I shook my head. Of course, because that’s what I needed at the moment. It wasn’t like I needed to focus on other, more important things. Ugh. I met with Beta Alexander, who was w
