Thirty-one

Eleanor arrived at the healing school on time, hoping to get a positive feedback from Emma. It was all she had thought about throughout last night and this morning.

She walked through various hospital wards in search of the girl, apologizing to a worker she accidentally bumped into.

"Watch where you are going," the lady said with a roll of her eyes and disappeared into a corner.

"Eleanor. You are early." Eleanor paused at the familiar voice and came face to face with Emma. "And I think I know why."

"So? Did you talk to him?" Eleanor asked, an impatient edge to her tone. "What did he say?"

"Calm your wits," Emma said with a low chuckle. "I talked to him, but you know how the man can be. He is one stubborn son of a gun."

Eleanor’s hope crumbled to the ground. If he would not listen to his own sister, then nothing might ever change his mind. She placed a hand over her forehead to calm the headache that suddenly sliced through her head.
