SCARLETT :

Jax cared, I felt it. I saw it. And the guards knew he'd probably listen to me when it came down to it, and it worked in my favor. I was in the garden in no time.

Oh, it was chilly.

"Get her a blanket, now!" One of the men told the nurses. "The Alpha must not find her this way."

"You don't need to. I want to feel the cold."

"He's right, Miss. You need to maintain a warm temperature for the sake of your heart." The nurse differed before rushing off to get a blanket.

Oh, all these constrictions. I hated them.

The moon wasn't full; it was in half, and there were many beautiful stars in the sky, twinkling in the sky.

It felt surreal. One moment I was with Herrera, then I was back.

"What date is it?" I asked him.

"Ma'am, it's..." One of the men responded.

"Three months!" I exclaimed.

I was out for three whole months.

No wonder a part of me was eager to see the sky. I deserved it.

It's not as bad as I thought. In Herrera's paradise, it seemed as though I had been there for years.

JAX:"Three out of the six shelters have been completed, Alpha Jax," one of the council members informed me."Fifteen people who survived the attack but have been in a coma passed away today," another informed us."Shall we then have a moment of silence for them?" I asked the council members and elders who were left.Three whole months had passed, and things weren't fully back in shape. There had been improvements, but it wasn't enough. How do I do justice to what happened? My soul felt utterly crushed. Meeting upon meeting at least thrice a week.I have never had to go through so many paper documents in my life. How dreadful. The minute of silence was quickly over, and there was much more to discuss. Cage had resumed duties as the Lord of the Harrison family, much to the disappointment of every person who contested his right and replaced the family in the council. The Harrisons were a crucial part of the pack, and his father was present for every important meeting. That aside, I had

JAX:I reached the front of her room, the buff guards still in place."Alpha Jax!" Scarlett's mother called out to me."Is she?" I asked."Yes," Sophie responded as she embraced Zharn, who was happy for her. For all of us.Her parents had come to terms with it. Those two were never leaving each other.I creaked open the door. No one accompanied me inside. There was no need for me to voice it out. I wanted to see her alone. Her head slowly turned. My chest was about to explode.Amber eyes filled with longing.I think I'm gone."Scarlett," I breathed out. How much breath was I holding back? It was hard for me to recognize the sound of my own voice."Jax," she replied in the same tone.I'm about to scream with joy.Stow your inability to be calm as well as your restless spirit, Jax!She was right in front of me.Her eyes open, staring at me intently.Say something else, you fool. My inner voice taunted me.Ah, yes. I had to say something. Now, if the words would come out."How are you?"

JAX:All good things come in good time. As Doctor Rachael said, Scarlett was discharged on the seventh day with no issues. And it wasn't a dream. It's a blissful reality. She changed out of hospital clothes into a black dress that hugged her slim figure. The diva that she was. I'm completely mesmerized by her."I've waited long enough," I said as I pulled her by the waist and embraced her.She stilled for a moment as if she was rethinking everything. Please don't.Don't leave me again.I don't say those words out loudand let them burn at the back of my throat.Soon she relaxed in my arms and gently hugged me back.Yes.She felt so small in my arms. I made it my responsibility to help her regain her previous weight. She looked too thin."Let's stop before someone sees."Right. Anyone could come in.It wasn't going to be her parents because they were planning a surprise party for Scarlett. I sensed that they must've gotten a hint about us but weren't willing to discuss it yet, which wa

JAX:"I'm sorry," I managed to say, the first words that came out of my mouth."You don't have to be," she replied softly, gazing back at me with consideration. "You shouldn't be either. I think I've come to terms with wanting you too, but there's a lot to sort out. We both have our baggage-""Scarlett," her father called out to her."I agree with you," I interjected. "There's a lot we need to discuss, a much long-delayed repartee. If it's okay with you, I'd like to pick you up next weekend for us to talk," I offered. Please say yes.Tell me you'll see me."Scarlett!" her father called again.Dammit, Mr. De Luca. I'm trying to make your daughter fall in love with me again. She looked back at me from the kitchen door. "What time?" she asked."Anytime is good, as long as it works for you too. We could do morning coffee, a simple brunch, or dinner.""I think brunch is good," she said."Then twelve pm?" I suggested."Young lady," her father's voice interrupted. For the love of-"Yes, that

JAX:La Belle Vue. The restaurant was just as I envisioned—warm, intimate, yet refined. Sunlight streamed through the large windows, casting a soft glow over the dark oak tables and exposed brick walls. A fireplace crackled in the corner, the scent of burning cedar mixing with the faint aroma of freshly baked pastries. The space was entirely ours, not a single other guest in sight. Just Scarlett and me.She looked around, taking in the dim golden chandeliers and plush leather seating. The faint notes of a jazz piano hummed through the air, barely noticeable under the quiet shuffle of the wait staff."I've never been to this side of town. It's so pretty," she murmured, settling into her seat.I loosened my tie slightly, trying to shake off the ridiculous nerves creeping up my spine. "I thought you'd like something simple but nice.""Thank you," she told me.A waiter appeared with two glasses of freshly squeezed orange juice, setting them down with a polite nod before handing us the men

SCARLETT :"It is easy. Too easy. You have me by your side."His words sounded sweet, sweeter than all the honey in this world, if you will.He made it sound like nothing, yet to me, it was something. It was the whole of it."How much time?" He asked me, his gaze unmoving, unnerving. This man was trying so hard to reach into my soul.I think it's working."I have no idea," I replied to him honestly. How long does it take to think a relationship through?A day?A week?A month? One year?I did not know."I can't say I know all of you, and you can't say you know all of me," I told him."Scarlett, you have all of me. You can take all the time you need to study me, and I'll let you. Nothing is holding us back."How can you say nothing is?Are you going to tell him how you planned to use him first? A voice teased at the back of my head. It was like the devil whispering words of conceited advice sure to ruin me. Herrera would give it a good smash and stab if she were present. The voice was

JAX:Scarlett tensed at the mention of the royal pack house. I understood why. My brother hadn't been found. All I needed was for him to come around so that I could confront him for my mate. How were skilled spies and assassins not able to locate him? The issue was beginning to seem beyond me. I hated it.She fiddled with the seatbelt next to me. I could tell she was still anxious."Why did you lie to me and say that you are fine, Scarlett? When will you learn to trust me fully?" I asked.I glanced to the side, our eyes met.I placed one hand on the steering wheel and the other on her fidgeting hand. She became stiff, just like when I hugged her in the hospital, but later relaxed to my touch."That's it. Don't shy away from me," I said.I didn't say anything more to her. Her body understood what mine was trying to convey. I saw through her because she's mine. The drive wasn't too far, and the enormous gates of the royal pack house opened to us, very grand and stylish. We entered and m

Did he even experience any parental love?I wanted answers. No, I needed answers."Scarlett!" My mother called out to me."I'm coming." I put the last box onto the truck."I'm so tired." Sophie slumped onto me."Get up, lazy ass." I pushed her off me gently. "I won't be moving your hair kit box for you."Two days went by fast, and we were moving to the farmhouse.I told Sophie everything, about my new ability, about Herrera. It still felt unreal that my spirit remembered her, not everything. Just faintly and with time, it seemed as if all my memories there with her were leaving me. My newfound ability was for the pack alone. When the pack becomes in great danger, it will arise. The permission for Herrera to use my body was irrevocable. Meaning I can sli

SOPHIE :Three years later, after one too many battles, oppositions, joy, laughter, and trials. We were there at my sister's wedding with her soon-to-be husband."I can't believe they're getting married," I overheard two women gossiping."Right? There are many more eligible women to choose from. I can't believe the council and the grand Luna approve of the marriage," the other woman scowled."I don't believe she's the one who defeated the rogues, just some silly excuse they made up. I'm certain of it!" her friend said to her."And the sister? Birds of the same feather for sure. One for the Beta, the other for the Alpha. They sure know how to spread their wings and legs.""Oh, really." I gasped from behind them. "Do tell me more. What else did the slutty twins do?" I faked enthusiasm."Miss De Luca."I shook my head, waving my fingers in their faces and noses. "It's Zharn Meyer's fiancée to you. You don't like the party? Leave." I rolled my eyes. "Salty noble twerps.""Savage, Sophie!"

SCARLETT :We arrived safely at the pack house, and I got goosebumps all over my skin. I hadn't been there in forever."Thanks for driving me here," I told my friend."Let me come with you just in case he tries anything," Cage told me."You don't have to. I don't think he will.""You don't know if he actually will. Just let me do this for you. I'm begging you. I'll be there to keep you in check, and the faster, the better, right?""Hm." I nodded my head, getting out of the car.Staff greeted Cage, while giving me second and third stares.I knew about gossip. Sophie did try to hide it from me.The twin seductress.Sleeping with the Alpha, Beta, and Cage. I shuddered as most of them gave me cold stares."Scarlett." I looked up as I entered the Alpha's chambers."Reyes!" I screamed. "Reyes." I said again. I had forgotten about my chef friend. He embraced me. "I'm so happy to see you, my dear friend. SCARLETT :"...It was really bad. I think you should go see him," Sophie pleaded with me."You said it yourself, Sophie. It was really bad," I disagreed. "Why do you think he'd want to see the person who put him in that position? I'm not going to." I looked up from my box of clothes. "Sophie, I don't get you sometimes. You would usually be happy with my decision, why do you seem displeased?""Well, that was before I realized you two look miserable without each other. I'm technically giving you a great solution," she shrugged. "If you're not going to get back together with him, you might as well break the bond.""I was planning to. I'll apologize and end things once and for all. It's for the best," I folded my lips into a thin line before releasing them. ZHARN:The fear that wrapped me in its fingers was indescribable when I heard what Scarlett did to Jax. I was afraid that it was the same with Sophie. All that worry consumed me, and I needed space to think. I'll never regret fighting for us. I promised her, and that is exactly what I'll do.She looked cute in her tight black top and jeans. Sophie is a sight for sore eyes.I'm in love with this woman. This beautiful, unfiltered, badass woman. Everyone who disagrees about our union can respectfully jump in the ocean. My phone rang just before I revved the engines.I was surprised to see Hensley on the screen; this man rarely calls me. It made a feeling rise in my chest, one that I could not shake off.I glanced at Sophie before picking up."Hensley," I said into the phone."Sir Zharn. I need to come to the Alpha's cabin. He has an awful fever, he's drunk as well. I've never seen him this way, and I don't -""I'll be there," I cut the call."What happened?" Sophie searched my eyes."Jax

SOPHIE :"Hi," I stood in front of the house as Zharn came to pick me up."Hey," he stood in front of his car in a sports jacket on top of a black shirt, jeans, and Converse. He looked like a hot teenager. It was so appealing to see.I squealed as I ran towards him, jumping on him. "I missed you," I confessed. It had been a week since Scarlett returned, since Zharn walked out the door with his best friend, and I thought I lost the one man I fell in love with, not until he called me.I remembered the trepidation in his voice as he asked me again over the phone, "Do you love me?"I found it as a silly question, but I understood where he was coming from, especially with his past. I would have a hint of doubt too if I were the one. Scarlett kept rooting for me all the way, and it made me sad that she had to go through all she has because of the De Vaunt family."I miss you too," my legs were still circled around his waist. He brought my head down to kiss me."Ahem!" My father cleared his

SCARLETT :"Jax, wait!" I ran after him."Scarlett, come back here," my father screamed, but I ignored him."Jax!" I followed him down the stairs."I don't think we should be speaking to each other after that. I hurt you, I'm sorry I was a jerk." The pain in his voice made my stomach knot. He sounded so genuine. "I cannot turn that night back, and I want to now, so badly even. That way I'd make a better decision of paying you off in exchange for breaking the bond-""You think you can write me off with money?" Tears streamed down my face."I don't know! It's just that now I'd do anything to change it. One stupid mistake has clearly damaged us. I've fallen in love with you. You've got your revenge, and so I hope that you are happy." He walked out the door.I fell to my knees and broke into sobs."No, please." I've fallen in love with you too."Scarlett, get off the floor," my father commanded me."N-no, I-"Sophie helped me up. "You were going to have to let him know the truth at some p

SCARLETT :"Scarlett!" Everyone screamed as I got out of the jeep. It was a long drive. We escaped the black shadow in the morning, and we got back around 3 am the next morning.Everyone enveloped me in a hug. I wasn't sure if my whole being was enough for them to embrace. We all shed tears. My father kissed my forehead. "I'm so sorry I let you go alone."I shook my head fervently. "No, please, it isn't your fault.""What happened to your face?" My mother poked the bruise gently, and I hissed. My father's eyes raged. "Who did this to my daughter?""Thank you for bringing her home, Cage." Scarlett hugged him deeply. "I owe you so much. Thank you, thank you.""No, you owe me nothing," Cage disagreed."What do you mean?" My father left me as José, Elena, Adrianne, Estelle, Jean, Lennie, and Courte dragged me back and forth between them, arguing on who searched for me the most. "Cage, I owe you my life. My daughters and wife are everything to me, and you brought my Scarlett back to me, so

SCARLETT :"Not before I raid a place I've had my eye on," Tiffany said.I frowned. What? "Whoa, hold up. I know you have your issues, and I get that, but you gave me your word to take me to the border. What you just did was wrong, and you know it." I should've just coaxed her into helping me, but her attitude wasn't helping. "You can't just break into people's houses, steal wallets, and eat pretzels."She folded her arms, her expression hardening. Here we go again."We saved you last night, and this is how you repay me? Without us, you'd be dead." Her glare cut through me like a blade. "You don’t even know me, and you're making assumptions.""I'm not—""I don't need help," she snapped. "I’m fifteen, and I hold my own just fine. You wanna get to the border? Fine. Find your own way!" She spun on her heels and stormed off.Panic flared in my chest. She was my only way out. SCARLETT :"Good luck with your messed-up fantasies then. She's. Not. Here." I heard the annoyance in her voice. Tiffany sounded pissed. After a few more thuds, they left, and I could breathe. For a short while, I heard notice, and panic filled me. There were many possibilities; I just didn't want the negatives to override the positives."Think lightly, Scarlett," my wolf chided. The darkness did not scare me; nothing did as much as the thought of the people who gave me a place to hide being in trouble. They saved me.Amidst my conflicting thoughts, the passage to the doorway opened, and I recoiled back, clinging to the knife Turner gave me."Hey, hey, hey, Scarlett." My name rolled off Turner's tongue smoothly."Hey," I smiled, breathing heavily."They're gone," he told me. "Come down."He instructed me, guiding me through the heavy boxes."Thank you," I told him."Yeah, yeah," Tiffany stood by the door, rolling her eyes. "Next time, tell us Callen Harper is about to murder your ass.
