Chapter eight

"It's my choice. I'm not really interested in being a mate to Lucas, and totally into Brian, so that's why I did what I did," I responded to her questions, even though I knew within me that none of the things I just said were true. But I hoped it was convincing enough for her.

"Do you know Brian before now, or have you been having an affair with him secretly that I don't know of?" Nicole asked me, and I smiled immediately as I stared at her.

It was so obvious she was thinking that way because that's what she was doing all this while - having an affair with Lucas even though she knew she wasn't his fated mate. But I'm nothing like her and I'm never going to be like her.

Honestly, I wished I could just confront her right away and tell her I know how she was sleeping around with Lucas, but I stopped myself before I could say anything.
