Mavin

After I had escorted my grandpa home, I took him to his room downstairs. I ensured that my grandpa drank his medicine before I left him in the care of Angela and went back upstairs to my bedroom.

I went into my closet and changed my casual clothes into a blue suit and set off to leave for the company. I was having a business meeting at noon with my shareholders and partners.

I had already contacted Henry Black to reschedule the business meeting for the afternoon and to let my secretary know that I wouldn't be arriving at the company on time.

The day was Saturday, October 18, and I took my time to dress up properly in my room. The business meeting included meetings with other foreign partners that I work with. Even though Grandpa Charlie had disconnected his company association from mine, I was still obligated to give him a great-grandchild or impregnate someone before the year ended.

I knew I still had to work very hard to take over Grandpa's company too. Considering it was only a temporary warning, I did not take Grandpa's warning or his written will seriously.

I walked towards my room mirror again to examine my looks and adjusted my blue suit necktie to fit properly.

After adjusting my suit, I wore my socks and black shoes. I left the house and went downstairs to my garage. I own a variety of cars, from SUVs to my G-Wagon and sports cars. I drove around the city by myself.

I walked towards my black SUV, a black Range Rover Sport, one of my favorite cars. I got into the driver's seat, started the vehicle engine, and drove out of my residence to the company.

I couldn't stop thinking about Thelma, the young lady I had a one-night stand with, and decided to conduct a complete background check on her. I couldn't recall using protection with her the previous night as I hadn't planned on being with any woman.

I arrived at my company's gate after a smooth ride from home without any delays.

I drove into my company headquarters, where my office was located, as we have smaller branches in other states as well.

I elegantly stepped out of my car and walked towards the company building.

I entered with the bodyguards guarding the luxurious five-star building.

I headed towards the elevator and went up to the third floor, where the meeting hall was. I used the private elevator, stepped out, and proceeded to the business meeting.

Being a black man, it was not evident on my face what had happened the previous night.

I was assertive and sometimes unfriendly with most of my staff, and they understood the importance of working diligently. Even the female staff members refrained from inappropriate behavior at work.

I entered the large meeting hall and made my way to the head seat, where I usually sat as the head and CEO of MW Group.

Most of our top partners had already arrived, looking dissatisfied. The meeting hall fell silent as I took my seat late.

I couldn't focus on the discussion and my mind kept wandering back to Thelma.

Thankfully, my assistant, Henry Black, was there to assist, and he began outlining the agenda of the business meeting to our partners.

The meeting covered new marketing strategies, pricing, and shares related to our partnerships.

We only had one major competitor, the BEEH Group, which was significantly ahead of us. After the meeting concluded, I realized I was still sweating heavily.

I stood up, shook hands with some partners without negotiating, and directed them to meet with Henry Black. I left the meeting with a disapproving look.

I was not in the right mood to engage with the partners, knowing they were familiar with my occasional mood swings and the rumors surrounding me.

Leaving the meeting hall, I took the elevator to the fourth floor and headed towards my office door. My secretary, Mrs. Tonia Briggs, a middle-aged woman in a black suit, stood up to greet me. "Good afternoon, boss."

Mrs. Tonia was a light-skinned woman, married with kids. I responded to her greeting politely and entered my office.

My office, spacious and painted in white mixed with ash gray, had a black office chair by a huge desk.

I walked over to the chair, took off my blue coat, and sat down. I regretted not following Doctor Amari's advice to check my medical condition earlier due to the excessive sweating.

I dropped my coat on another seat since I was not expecting any visitors and wanted to avoid clients coming in. It was unusual to work on a Saturday, and I still struggled with sweating despite the air conditioning.

I picked up the office phone and dialed Mrs. Tonia Briggs' office line.

After connecting, I instructed her not to allow anyone into my office and to redirect them to other top staff offices around. She was also to reschedule any important appointments until I could make time.

Mrs. Tonia replied, "Okay, boss."

I ended the call, grabbed a cold water bottle from the fridge to drink, and settled back in my office seat. Thelma's thoughts kept troubling me, and I couldn't shake them off.

Picking up the phone once more, I called Adam to check if he had gathered more information about Thelma since introducing her to me the night before.

The call rang but Adam didn't answer right away. Anxious, I called again, and this time he picked up.

"Hello boss," Adam greeted, and I immediately inquired, "Have you found out any details about Thelma's real information yet?"

"No, boss, we are still working on identifying her. The only identity we matched was Thelma Sabastain, CEO Conrad Sabastain, and Melissa Sabastain's daughter."

I sat up abruptly, startled by the news. "What? Which Conrad Sabastain are you referring to, Adam?"

"Well, boss, I believe Thelma is the daughter of the CEO of BH Group."

"What!" The gravity of the revelation slowly sank in as I tried to process the implications. "I can't believe this, Adam. Are you sure?"

"Well, boss, that's the information we have so far. I'll update you if we find any other identities that match Thelma."

"Okay," I sighed heavily.

The call ended, but I was still stunned, staring at my phone screen in disbelief. Sleeping with the daughter of my rival company's CEO was a precarious situation.

BH Group had been closely monitoring our company's activities, creating a tense competition between our companies. Despite competing with Steven Sabastain for various business awards, we rarely interacted outside public events.

Lost in thought, I dropped the phone on the desk, unable to fathom that CEO Conrad Sabastain would allow his daughter to roam freely without security, especially late at night.

"Unbelievable," I muttered, switching on the computer to research CEO Conrad Sabastain and his family online for the first time.
