Chapter Eleven

Caroline was surprised that  Kris though was sad but he was not really mad at her after telling him about the pregnancy and their baby. She was really grateful. She inwardly thanked him. She cleared her throat and answered, "i left her at Pure grace orphanage home in Baron Country, which is our country. I really need us to find our child. She has a birth mark on her left ear in form of a tiny dot. I do not know what have become of our daughter. She may even be married by now. I wish I know the family that adopted her. Will she ever forgive me?" 

Kris was really in  deep thought, " the same hospital we adopted our daughter more than twenty years ago. My Amanda has the same birth mark on her left ear. She looks like Caroline. Whenever I look at her I see Caroline. Could it be that Amanda is my biological daughter? Oh, my God. We really have to go for a DNA test." Kris was still thinking when Caroline tapped him on his hand after noticing that he was deeply in thought.

"Is everything alright?" Caroline enquired. "Everything is perfectly fine. We have to find our daughter but first, I really need to confirm something very important. Though I am not happy that you never told me about the pregnancy until now, but I am so glad that I have a daughter with you."

"Thank you so much, Kris. We will find her. Kris, can you tell me about your family and are you still married to Mandy?"

Kris started, " you know some information about my Marital life. You  know that we were very much in love but while we were still dating, my parents forced me to get married to Mandy. You were also aware that I was forced to marry Mandy because of my parents relationship with hers and the partnership business. You know that at first I refused, but when my parents threatened to disown me and to deal with you, I gave in.  I wanted you and I to travel to another country but you refused. I was so grateful that you understood what was going on, even though my marriage with Mandy broke your heart. Yes, I married her because I didn't want any harm to come to you. My plan was to file for a divorce after taking over the business.  After getting married to Mandy, I was told that if I treat Mandy bad that I will never set my eyes on you again. You know that Mandy's family and my family were influential and there was little or nothing I could do to protect you. I acted as a good husband pretentiously."

Kris continued, " i got tired of sacrificing my happiness to please them and that was the main reason I invited you over so that I will make everything clear to my parents in your presence but unfortunately, you were accused of stealing our family sacred bracelet which is the source of the family good luck. That very bracelet passes from generation to generation. I was devastated but I knew it was a set up. All efforts to get the culprit was in vain. I was so heartbroken when you left.

"You were aware that Mandy and I  were unable to have a child after some years of getting married. Well, we have two beautiful daughters now." He concluded.

" It is okay. Those things were in the past now. Finding our daughter is the most important thing now. Kris, are you sure she will forgive me when we see her?" Caroline asked.

"Yes, she will", replied Kris.
