The day for the gala finally came. It was a luxurious event. Lilian watched as the elites of society trooped in. They were surely loaded. She was able to nick a press pass from an unsuspecting journalist and brought a camera and a notebook. She had to look at the part. She entered the hall and was almost blown away by how glorious it looked. Her folks would never have dreamed of being here. Everything was beautiful. The drinks were expensive, the food was made by the best chefs and the decorations looked like gold. It was all bling. She found a corner and settled herself in and kept watch. Rich people were always careless. A drink was offered to her and she drank in silence, peering through the crowds for an unsuspecting target. Security was tight but there were a few loose ends here and there. Soon enough, important personalities were being called. Grace Adams, the fashion icon; Bryan Bailey, the owner of a multi-million dollar tech company and Damian Richards, the multi-billionaire businessman. According to Cosmopolitan, Damian was the hottest thing since Carlos Vince. He was a god. Sexy body and a lot of money. Lilian didn't care of course. She barely had time for men, let alone stuck up, morons like him. She looked at him with disgust. He walked like he was the freaking god of Olympus.
The gala dragged on, music blared but there was order. Once in a while, she'd take a snapshot or scribble something in her note to make sure she blended in with the press. The party went on and she wasn't able to get anything, not even lose change. She felt she had wasted her time coming and was about to go home when suddenly, something caught her eye. She noticed Damian put a large wad of cash in his left coat pocket. Stealing from coat pockets was hard but she could pull it off. She took another glass of champagne and made her move. She walked up to him, with her back facing him, and bumped into him.
"You should watch where you're going Miss," he said.
"I'm sorry Sir, I got carried away taking shots of Chris Evans. I didn't see you there."
In those split seconds, she had taken the cash. It was all too easy. Now it was time to make a banana and split it. She headed for the exit but was cut off by two bodyguards who refused to let her through.
"Excuse me, I'd like to leave."
"I'm afraid we can't let you do that. You have to come with us, Miss."
Lilian was terrified. She had been screwed. There was no way she'd be able to fight them. She looked behind the bodyguard and saw a clear path if she could find a way past them. She thought hard and fast and slowly backed away from the bodyguards. Instinctively, they made a grab for her but she was able to evade and bolted past them in a flash. She could hear their footsteps solidly behind her but she dared not to look back. She made a turn for an alleyway and quickly climbed over a metal fence. Her parkour came in handy. She was about to make a sharp right when something hit her in the head. The next thing she knew, she was engulfed in blackness.

Lilian woke with a splitting headache. Everything was fuzzy. Where was she? She looked around and found herself tied to a chair in a large office. She tried to slip out of the ropes but the knots were too tight. She desperately wanted to rub her aching head. She kept trying to free herself but soon gave up. It was never going to work. She was alone in the large office contemplating her fate. Was she going to die? Was she going to prison? Had she been kidnapped? Theories popped in and out of her head, each one, scarier than the last. Lilian had never felt fear in her life and now that she felt it, she hated it. Why didn't she just leave the idea of going to the gala? If she hadn't been so greedy, she wouldn't have been in this mess.
Finally, someone came in. She couldn't see who it was but she felt a menacing presence. Soon she heard a voice.
"You, my dear, have a lot of nerve. I like it. What's your name?" the voice asked. It was both smooth and menacing.
"My name isn't important to you. Let me go!" she said loudly. She didn't want the fear in her voice to be detected.
"I'm afraid I can't do that. You thought it wise to steal from me."
"I have no idea what you're talking about." Lilian was desperate now. She wanted, more than anything, to be back at home counting and recounting her previous loot.
"Well, since the hit to the head gave you temporary amnesia, allow me to jog your memory a bit."
Lilian heard a loud thud and saw the wad of cash she had stolen, lying on the table in front of her. She was completely screwed now. The money had her fingerprints on it and everything, of course, the police could trace the theft to her. She had met the end of the road.
Soon she heard footsteps and the person took a seat on the chair opposite the table. It was Damian. She looked breathtakingly handsome. His tight white shirt accentuated his well-built chest and abs. He was so handsome that he would certainly give Aphrodite a run for her money.
"What are you going to do with me," she asked back fearlessly. She wasn't going to let her fear show.
"That is a very good question. But I think the question is... What is a pretty thing like you doing picking pockets?" He put his finger under her chin and tilted her face upwards. She pulled her face away and looked Damian threateningly in the eye.
"What's your name?" he asked.
"Lilian. Lilian Mendez." She kept her tone harsh. She wasn't going to show any signs of weakness
"Well, Miss Mendez. I'd like to make a deal with you. You see, I recently fired one of my maids and her slot needs to be replaced. If you agree to that position, I'll forget that this whole fiasco ever happened. If not, I could call the chief of police here and have a lawsuit filed against you. So Miss Mendez or should I say, Lilian, the choice is yours."
Lilian was stuck between a rock and a hard place. She didn't want to go to jail and she certainly didn't want to be anyone's maid.
"Time is ticking Lilian. Tick, tock, tick, tock." Damian was enjoying every second of it. The confusion on her face, the tension in her body, he savored them all.
"Well, it seems you can't make a decision. I'll call the chief of police right away."
And with that, Damian got up and made to leave the room. In as much as this was fun, he wasn't going to waste his time with her.
"Wait!," she called out after him.
He stopped and waited for her to say more.
"I'll do it."
"Excuse me?" he said, pretending he had not heard her
"I said I'll do it." Lilian felt her stomach clench tightly.
"You'll do what?"
"I'll...I'll be your maid," said Lilian with a sigh of defeat.
Damian grinned. He loved having his way.
"Alright then. In that case, sign this."
Damian produced a document from the table and put it in front of her.
"What's this?" asked Lilian confused.
"A contract binding you here as a maid. If you go against any of these terms and conditions, you will be handed over to the police and your pretty little face will rot in jail."
This man was not playing around. Lilian was in deep. There was no going back now.
"Well, I can't sign anything if I'm all tied up."
Damian was hesitant to bring a knife to cut her loose. Something about this woman was dangerous. She wasn't an open book like all the other women he had encountered.
"Fine." And with that, he cut her loose.
Lilian massaged her wrists and stared hatefully at Damian. He was a devil. A sexy devil but still a devil.
She took a pen and signed the document and that was that.
Damian took the document and called one of the maids to take Lilian to her room. The other maids came from home but Lilian would be staying with Damian. Her room was large and comfortable. She was left alone to rest. In the wardrobe, several maid uniforms were hanging. Lilian lay sadly on the bed. She had made a deal with the devil and soon, her hell would begin. What had she gotten herself into?
Lilian was up early the next day, not because she wanted to or because she had to, but because she couldn't sleep a wink last night. Her head was swimming with thoughts. She had a shower and got dressed. The uniform was certainly not her style. It looked like the maid outfits in some anime she had seen. She's was a little bit short and revealing quite a lot of her boobs. She was so uncomfortable. She walked out of her room and met another maid on her way to wake her up."Ahh, your awake. Go downstairs and take some coffee to Mr. Richards. He also wishes to see you."This was Lilian's nightmare. She reluctantly went downstairs and got coffee. On her way, she admired the grandeur of the mansion. Everything was placed perfectly. There were so many things to steal here. She took the coffee upstairs and made her way to Damian's room. She entered and saw him in his trousers only. "Have you heard of this thing called knocking," he asked angrily."Have you heard of this thing called locks,"
Lilian started work early. The past few days she had gotten more in tune with her work. She was however burdened with the horrifying task of taking coffee up to Damian every morning and also waiting for him to finish it up and bring the tray back downstairs. Most days were uneventful and he drank his cup in silence and some days he just felt like throwing remarks her way. All of which she ignored of course. As she took his cup to his room, she bumped into Adam on the way. He was a hand's looking man but always had a worried face. Seemed Damian gave him a tough time as well. She could certainly relate to that. She knocked on Damon's door and entered the room. Damian was already dressed in a blue long-sleeve shirt and black trousers. He says cross-legged on the big armchair near the bed. "To you long enough", he said in annoyance. She ignored him and set the tray down on the table in front of him. He drank his coffee and looked at her. She was beautiful. Long sleek black hair, a prett
Lunch break soon came. Lilian was exhausted and hungry. She went to Damian's office to see if he had anything else for her to do. Damian was sitting at his desk, going through some documents. He didn't even care to look up when she came in."Is there...""Sir."Lilian was confused."Excuse me?" Damian closed the file and looked up at her."In my office, we address males as Sir."Lilian looked at Damian. He was kidding himself if he ever thought she was going to call him that, ever. She rolled her eyes and exhaled deeply."Well is there anything else you need me to do?""Yes."Damian got up and walked to where she was. She simply looked at him and followed his every move. Soon he was right in front of her. He looked deep into her eyes. She had beautiful, deep blue eyes that could stare into your soul. He then proceeded to circle her as he talked."You know, there is a lot I want from you."He was now behind her. He pulled her hair back to reveal her neck. He gently touched it and felt
Lilian went down for dinner. As usual, all the maids had gone home. She walked quietly to the dining table but as she approached, she could make out the shadow of a figure just round the final corner. Maybe a maid was still around working or the chef was leaving her plate out for her? She entered and saw Damian seated calmly. Why was the world trying to punish her? Hadn't she seen enough of him for one day? She hesitated before she took her seat. Damian had a plate of food in front of him. Was he going to eat with her? Why?"Nice of you to finally join me," he said expressionlessly. "Seems you like to eat alone."Lilian didn't say anything. She was really tired. Even though she had been thinking about him a few minutes ago, nature always had its way. She didn't need this right now. What she needed was a good meal and sleep. If she was following him to work tomorrow, then she needed it.Lilian took her cutlery and began to eat wordlessly. Damian watched her and after a few minutes, he
Lilian had gone thirteen chapters when she heard the main gate open. Seemed Damian was home. She walked to her window and saw him get out of the car and walk towards the house. She stared for a while then went back to her bed. She continued to read and listened carefully for any voices or summons from one of the maids to go and see Damian. Soon enough, she heard a knock on her door then someone opened it and came in. It was Damian. What were we doing there?Lilian looked up from her book and stared at him in confusion. He just stood there looking at her wordlessly. Lilian shrugged him off and kept reading. Maybe he got lost and forgot where his room was."You know, my maids greet me when I come in" Damian finally said."Well, that's good for you," Lilian said without looking up from her book. She took a cookie from the bowl that was beside her. She got peckish earlier and went down for a snack and brought the bowl of cookies upstairs with her.Damian continued to stare at her while sh
Lilian soon was able to climb onto her bed. Her legs were slightly numb but at least she could move them a bit. She collapsed onto her bed with a groan of satisfaction and tiredness. Damian was wild and she loved it. The poor maid had to witness the whole thing and fainted. Now she was going to get fired but Lilian had a feeling that she would have quit on her own, either way. The room was cool and the evening was quiet. Her body regained its composure slowly. Soon enough, she was almost back to her normal self. Her tummy rumbled. A pounding like that deserved some proper food. She had only had breakfast and cookies all day. She was going to consider lunch but then Damian come home and well... plans changed. No one came to call her for dinner since Damian left. She got up and went to the bathroom to freshen up. She smelled strongly of him. His cologne had a heavy scent and it stuck to her. As she washed up, she slid her fingers across the sensitive spots on her waist and back. She fe
Tuesday was busy for Damian. This meeting was really important to him. If had never taken anything seriously in his life, this was certainly an exception. He was having an important meeting with his rivals and had to make a good impression. He had been topping them for years now so he had to show that it was not all just dumb luck.As he dressed, he wondered if he should still take Lilian along. That lady was trouble but it was not like she was going to do anything important. She was the hottest thing he had amongst his staff. She was just going to stand there and be the 'attractive assistant that caught everyone's attentionHe looked at the dress he had brought out her for the occasion. It was red and sleek. With a neckline that was a bit wide so that her full cleavage could be seen. He wanted to make sure that everyone else slobbered over her like the dogs they were. He had bought himself a new suit to match as well. It was ironic that assistants matched their bosses. He asked one
Damian waited for the suit. He gripped angrily at his desk. The cleaner tried her best not to meet his angry gaze. She was quick yet thorough. The faster she cleaned the better it would be for her. Soon she was done and she took her leave. No sooner had she left, than the driver came in with a new suit. It wasn't as grand as the one he had but considering the large crimson stain he had running down his shirt, the new suit was way better. He went to the bathroom and got changed. He didn't plan today like this at all. As he attended to his injury, he remembered the snickering faces of his rivals when they saw him. It angered him and the sting of the methylated spirit on his cheek intensified it."This is all Lilian's fault. She did it on purpose," he thought. He cleaned up properly and headed towards the conference room. He was fifteen minutes behind schedule. As he walked in, the room was silent. He could hear slight snickers and could feel their mocking looks all over him. He took his
