Theon
A relief came over me as I heard Sam's answer, it gave me a light at the end of the whole situation. It wouldn't be easy, but we could make it work. For the sake of that child, we would make it work.
" Thank you so much," I sighed, hugging her.
" It was nothing," she assured me, looking a little embarrassed.
" Come on, you better get out of this sun," I stood up, helping her out.
Samantha smiled, walking beside me with a calmer expression. I let my mind wander for a moment to the day before, when I didn't know everything that awaited me. I had been happy with Harper, And now I don't even know what awaits me from this point on.
Will she take it well? How can I tell her something like this? And my family, what will they think of all this?
" Well, how will all this work out? " Samantha's voice brought me back from my reverie, as we approached her apartment.
" What do you mean?”
" What is your city like? When can I move, where will I live? " she explained.
" Ahh yes," I frowned.
We still had a lot to organize, but she looked exhausted.
" And then? " she looked at me suspiciously.
" Why don't you get some rest now and we can settle all this over dinner? " I proposed, "I need to find Gregor to get a hotel room for the night, but we can talk later.”
Samantha pondered this for a few moments before answering.
" Is your cousin coming too? " she looked at me.
" Do you want him to come?
" I don't know, I think it would be good to meet someone from the city. If that's not a problem for you.”
" No, no problem at all," I assured her, "if that's what you want.”
" Okay, then I'll see you later," she smiled before entering the building.
It wasn't the sexy smile I had known before, this one was loaded with relief. Samantha was a beautiful woman, in fact, she was much more than that. She was the kind of woman who would make any man get down on his knees at her feet to fulfill her desires for a simple smile.
Her voice, her looks, her body, her face, her hair... Everything seemed ready for the temptation of all the mortals who stood in her way. She exuded sensuality, and this is what attracted me to her from the beginning. But at this moment, stripped of all her haze of sensuality, she still retained that stunning beauty, but also exuded all the insecurity of a frightened child, and I think I might be the same way.
I watched her disappear into the building as she bounced up the stairs, and walked back as soon as she disappeared upstairs, grabbing my cell phone and calling Gregor. I needed to find him and get everything sorted out by dinner.
In our conversation I found out that he had already gotten us a room for the night, which made things a little easier. I headed in the direction of the hotel he had indicated, remembering the feeling that came over me as my hand rested on Samantha's belly. My son was there. The realization that I would be a father in a few months was still strange. I felt scared about it, but at the same time I wanted to make it work, and be the best father I could be.
As soon as I arrived at the hotel, I took a shower after informing my cousin that we should pick up Samantha for dinner later. He didn't oppose the plan, separating the clothes he would wear. A few hours later, we made our way to the agreed location to meet the future mother of my son, who, to my surprise, was accompanied.
Not that I was opposed to this, but I expected Samantha to go alone. Next to her was one of the girls who danced with her, the girl was small and had short blonde hair that gave her a jovial look.
" Samantha, it's a great pleasure to see you again so soon " Gregor came forward, extending his hand to the girl.
" Thank you, Gregor," she smiled, "this is my friend Charlie, we live together. She is the one who attended to you earlier today."
I greeted her before entering the restaurant, waiting for the hostess to guide us to our table. A silence fell over the group until we were settled, and then Charlie decided to speak up.
" So, Theon, Samantha told me about your proposal," she cut to the chase, drawing the immediate attention of my cousin, who had focused on the drink menu, reminding me that I hadn't told him everything Samantha and I had decided earlier.
" Proposal? What proposal? " he asked hurriedly, "Did Theon propose something to you?”
" Well, yes? " she frowned, looking confused.
" We both talked it over and came to the conclusion that since we're going to have the baby, it would be best…”
Gregor stood up, giving me a serious look before he spoke again, interrupting my explanation.
" Theon, can I talk to you for a moment? " he practically growled.
Samantha looked lost at my cousin's reaction, Gregor had surely got it all wrong, but in any case, it wasn't his problem.
" Gregor, sit down. It's not what you think," I murmured.
"Is there a problem with my moving? "Samantha alternated her gaze between us as Charlie stared at us.
" I'm starting to think you shouldn't go," she whispered to her friend, to my dismay.
" There's no problem, what we agreed is what counts, Samantha," I assured, "I just haven't had time to tell Gregor what we agreed.”
" And what did you agree on? " my cousin crossed his arms and sat down again.
" Samantha was planning to move out of Vegas, and I invited her to move to Aspen " I explained " that was the proposal.”
"Ohh, I see. I thought he asked you to marry him! " he looked relieved.
Did he really think that I would ask someone I hardly knew to marry me just because of a child?
" Marriage? Are you out of your mind? " Samantha stared at him in shock.
" What? He said something about a proposal.”
" They barely know each other," Charlie pointed out.
" And they're having a baby," he shrugged.
" I'm sorry to disappoint you, but I'm not the "stay together for the kids" type," Samantha returned with a grimace, "I just thought it would be nice to be close to the father of my baby.”
" Why don't we make our own requests? " I sighed as I realized that we hadn't even opened the menu.
We focused on the food for a while, trying to dispel the strange atmosphere that had taken over the table.
" All right, I think we need to sort some things out," Samantha spoke up again.
" When do you plan to move? " Charlie asked.
" I don't know, there's nothing holding me here," she shrugged, "I'm not working or anything.”
" And you have a way to support yourself? " Gregor looked worried.
" I have some savings and I can ask my parents for help," she began "And I also plan to get a job."
." For that you would have to tell them," Charlie hummed, drawing my attention. She hasn't told her parents yet? That reminded me of my sister's situation, and I know how terrified she was of telling us about the situation she had gotten herself into.
" If you go to Aspen, employment won't be a problem," Gregor said, "Theon can handle it.”
" Yes, I can," I agreed thoughtfully.
I could get something for her, and, as a last resort, I could put her in the store or something.
" Well, I can move out as soon as I get a place to live," Samantha shrugged, "I have to get a new OB too.”
" I'll look into some places," I assured her.
Finally, after much conversation, we decided that Samantha would move out in ten days, which was enough time for me to find her a place to live. As a last resort, I would put her up in a hotel until I could find a place.
We also agreed that she would fly to Denver, where I would pick her up with her move and take her to Aspen. Now it was just a matter of waiting for the moving day to arrive.
It was good to know that we could handle this amicably, I was a responsible man and would never run away, but I know that the fact that she accepted and respected my relationship, and even moved closer so that I could have contact with the child, showed a little of her character, something that I was not able to appreciate in our short involvement.
Theon Gregor and I left Vegas in the morning, but it was almost lunchtime when we arrived in Aspen. I dropped him off at his house before heading back to mine, letting Harper know that I had arrived before I got into the shower. My only desire at that moment was to sleep for the rest of the afternoon, but I was aware that if I delayed my conversation with my girlfriend any longer, I would lose the courage to tell her what I had discovered. As soon as I was out of the shower, I went to the kitchen, rummaging through the fridge for something for lunch while planning to visit Harper soon after. The sound of the front door being unlocked caught my attention, I closed the fridge and walked to the living room, almost bumping into Harper on the way. " Theon! Hi," she smiled as she saw me. She was wearing a blue plaid shirt and a scarf around her neck. Her hair was tied up simply, but she still managed to look beautiful with that easy smile on her lips. A smile that I would be taking off s
Theon I left the house determined to get that matter over with. My mother's house was not too far away, so I arrived within ten minutes. The first thing I heard as I passed through the front door was the sound of the loud crying of Daphne, Lara's daughter. Right away Evangeline, my younger sister, came towards me with an exasperated expression on her face. " For the sake of your sanity, you better get out of here now," she raised her voice, "this girl hasn't stopped yelling for at least an hour!” I didn't have time to answer her, she simply ran towards the stairs, disappearing upstairs, while my niece's screams, if possible, became even louder. " She's hungry! " my mother's voice sounded muffled from the living room. " I told you, it's not time," my sister whined, "she just had a feed!” I walked over to where they were standing, watching my sister standing near the large glass door that led to the back yard, cradling her daughter in an attempt to somehow comfort her. My mother s
" You've got us curious," Lara smiled encouragingly. " Well, I got a call on Friday," I scratched my throat. " What kind of call? Business? " Liny questioned, concentrating on her food. " I'm going to be a father," I revealed bluntly, causing them all to freeze at the news. Liny had stopped her fork halfway to her mouth, staring at me in shock, while the others seemed to have a similar reaction. " What did you say? " my mother stammered. " I found out on Friday and am still trying to assimilate," I explained. " My God, Theon," Lara smiled, “How long has Harper been expecting?” "That's all the more reason for you to propose to her! " my grandmother pointed out cheerfully. " Harper is not pregnant," I corrected that misunderstanding. " Now I don't get it," Liny frowned. " I met a girl in Las Vegas during Gregor's bachelor party," I looked away to my almost untouched plate, "on Friday she called me to tell me that she is pregnant and that I am the father.” " You got a stranger
Samantha The ringing of the doorbell caught my attention as I folded the last of my clothes into my suitcase. " Sam, are you ready?" Elle's voice sounded in the hallway next to the bedroom a few moments later. " Almost," I crooned. She opened the door, rolling her eyes to find me wearing only panties and a bra and a towel wrapped around my hair. " You're not even dressed yet! That's typical," she sighed, "hurry up your little bit of pregnancy, or you won't look presentable in time. Soon the girls will be here!” " Do you realize how crazy this is? " I let out, looking for an outfit that fit me. “Besides, it's not my fault, I spent the last few minutes kneeling on the bathroom floor next to the toilet. I didn't have much of a choice.” When they found out about my pregnancy and my move to Aspen, the girls from work decided to have an early baby shower as a goodbye. Although I said I thought it was crazy, I was only three months pregnant, but I felt grateful for this gesture. They w
Samantha The flight was smooth, and two hours after boarding, I arrived in Denver with my heart pounding hard in my chest. That was it, it was done. I move for an unknown city, to unknown people, to complete the greatest madness of my life. But now I have no way back.I looked around as I left the airport arrivals area pushing a cart with all my luggage, which was not much, in search of Theon. I frowned as I passed a gargoyle that "adorned" the environment, it was the ugliest thing I had ever seen. Did anyone really think it would be a good decoration? I sat down in one of the vacant seats, waiting for the father of my son to show up. After a few minutes without any sign of him, I decided to call, but before the call could be completed, he appeared panting in my field of vision. And to my utter surprise, he was accompanied. The woman next to him was shorter than him, with shoulder length dark hair and delicate features. Is this his girlfriend? " Samantha, I am sorry! " He apolog
Samantha An uneasy silence filled the vehicle, and I was often watched by Calliope and her brother through the rearview mirror, but I promptly ignored them. I couldn't wait to get to my new home and get rid of them both. As the road became steeper and surrounded by those big rocky mountains, I began to feel the effects of the altitude, and the fact that the road was so winding was not helping my discomfort. I tried to restrain myself as best I could, but the second time I squatted down on the bench to get a little more comfortable, I felt Theon's gaze on me. " Samantha, are you all right? " he asked worriedly, finally breaking the silence that had settled over the room. " Yes, I am," I tried to keep my voice steady, "just…” " Just? " he insisted anxiously. " I think I need some air," I explained, closing my eyes and breathing deeply, under the watchful eyes of the two brothers. " In a few miles there is a lookout, I can stop there," he explained. " Can you handle it? " Calliope
" I'll take you home," he commented, putting us back in motion while watching me through the rearview mirror. " Thanks, is it far away? " I let my guard down a little, feeling a little better just being in his company. " No, we'll be there soon," he assured me, falling silent again. Will my son's father and I ever be able to have a natural conversation? A short while later, he parked in front of a charming little white wooden house. I recognized it from the pictures he had sent me, but it looked bigger now that I was here. I got out of the car, feeling the cold breeze envelop me, and walked through the white picket fence with my heart racing in my chest. " Did you like it? " Theon asked, walking beside me as I climbed the balcony steps that would take me to the front door. " It's beautiful," I replied, waiting for him to unlock the door. " I was looking for a house that would have enough room for you and the baby. " You know we're only going to have one baby,
Theon I left Samantha's house after loading her luggage without any doubts about my destination. I tried not to make things worse in her presence, But I wouldn't let it all go so easy.. A few minutes later I was ringing the doorbell of Adam's house. " Theon... Did you forget something with Callie? " My friend asked, surprised by my presence. I made my way to the kitchen, which was the only room with the lights on. Callie was sitting on the countertop, holding a glass of wine, at ease in her boyfriend's house. " Theon, what…” " We have some business to take care of, come on," I cut her off, crossing my arms, hoping that she would make my life easier. " Theon, what happened? " Adam stopped beside me, alternating his gaze between his girlfriend and me. Callie sighed, not looking very willing to follow me. " Theon, can we talk tomorrow?” " Callie, we're going to fix this now, even if I have to throw you over my shoulder and take you home," I warned. " Wow, easy there Theon. If sh
