Chapter 2 From Heaven to Hell

The sky of the small town seemed to be a little bluer than what Su Mo had seen in Paris. In this season of blooming lavender, even the air was filled with a romantic atmosphere.

At the end of June, the weather was not hot yet, and the sun wasn't too bright.

On the streets of the small town, a pale woman walked past with her luggage.

Her entire body was wrapped by the clothes, revealing only her pale face. Her footsteps were so weak as if she was stepping on cotton. It felt like a gust of wind could blow her down.

After the holiday, almost all the students had left.

Those who didn't go home were also hanging out in twos and threes. The campus was empty, making her bleak heart even more lonely.

In the male dormitory, she couldn't find the person she had been looking for.

Su Mo asked the dormitory administrator and found out that Lin Jinyao had never come back.

She originally wanted to explain it to him and beg him to forgive her once, but it seemed that he did not give her this chance.

Her hope was lost. She stood downstairs in the male dormitory helplessly.

Like a lost deer, she did not know where to go.

Perhaps she should buy a plane ticket back home. At least, she wanted to explain it to him, but she wondered whether he would listen to her.

The phone vibrated in her pocket. Su Mo was stunned for a moment before she hurriedly took it out. She picked it up without even looking at it. She happily said to the microphone, "Brother Jin, please listen to my explanation."

There was a female voice on the other side of the line. She said helplessly, "Momo, did you quarrel with Jinyao? Did you make Jinyao angry again?"

The person talking on the phone turned out not to be him!

Su Mo stopped what she was about to say. She looked up at the sky and did not let her tears flow down. However, she could not hide the sobs in her voice. She said, "Auntie, I miss you so much."

The other party did not speak for a long time, so long that Su Mo thought that this phone call was an illusion.

Vaguely, Su Mo heard a sigh from the other party, "Momo, I'm sorry."

Tears flowed down her temples. Under the blue sky was a girl's sad smile. She deliberately raised her voice, "Auntie, you don't have to worry. I'm doing very well at school."

The other party seemed to be very relieved and smiled to say, "Of course, I know that you are very good. With Jinyao by your side, I'm very assured. From a young age, only Jinyao can bear your temper. Don't bully him at best."

Tears fell like rain. Su Mo quickly covered her mouth, not letting the other person hear her cry. She wanted to confess that there would be no future for them, but she did not dare.

She thought her aunt had worked hard because of her, so she could not let her aunt worry anymore.

"Momo, why aren’t you talking?"

The other party could not hear Su Mo's voice and became a little worried. Su Mo was afraid that her aunt would be suspicious and quickly said, "Auntie, I'm fine. It's just that I haven't been home for too long. I wonder if you're doing well."

This excuse just concealed her sadness, and the other party did not doubt it.

Her aunt only said, "Yesterday was your birthday. I was so busy that I didn't call you. Today, I will make it up to you. Baby Momo, happy birthday!"

After a pause, the aunt continued, "Momo, from now on, you are an adult. In the future, even without me by your side, you have to take good care of yourself, understand?"

Su Mo cried and nodded. The other party said, "I feel very sorry for you. I was not able to accompany you on your 18th birthday. Fortunately, Jinyao has been with you. At least I could have a satisfactory reply to your parents after I die."

The other party's voice was a little choked up. Su Mo wiped her tears and suddenly felt a little distressed.

During the time Su Mo had left, after experiencing that kind of betrayal, her aunt must be very sad.

Su Mo thought about it and made up her mind. Whether it was for her aunt or Lin Jinyao, she had to go back.

So she pretended to be happy and said, "Auntie, I have nothing to do during the summer vacation anyway. How about I go back and see you?"

"Don't come back." Su Mo did not expect the other party to refuse, widening her eyes in surprise. She was somewhat hurt because her aunt did not seem to want her to go back.

The other party seemed to realize that her tone was too urgent and explained to Su Mo with a guilty conscience.

"Momo, you have Jinyao by your side. I'm not worried about you. I'm doing well here. You don't come back. France is so beautiful. You should take advantage of the holiday to play more outside. By the way, I have already paid the tuition fees for three years for you. You can confirm it with the school later."

Su Mo was a little surprised and asked the reason, but the other party did not answer her question.

"I have nothing to ask for. As long as you and Jinyao are doing well, I will be at ease."

"Auntie, what's wrong? Did something happen at home? Did that woman make a scene at home again? What about uncle-in-law? Did he bully you?" Su Mo could tell something was wrong and immediately asked.

"No, I'm very good. Don't worry. In the end, Su Clan is also our Su Family's business. Your grandfather left it for me and your father. The shares your father left for you plus mine are much more than his. He doesn't dare to bully me."

Hearing this, Su Mo was relieved. She temporarily forgot her pain and comforted her aunt through the phone, "Auntie, you must take good care of yourself. I will go back to see you and my brother during the New Year Festival."

The other party choked and said, "Alright. Bring Jinyao to visit me during that time. I'll wait for you."

After hanging up the phone, Su Mo squatted on the ground and cried, thinking to herself, "If my aunt knew what had happened yesterday, would she also leave me just as Brother Jin had done? Could it be that she would no longer dote on me in the future?"

Su Mo spent this day in guilt, self-blame, and fear. At night, she had a nightmare and dreamed of the scene of the car accident she had when she was a child.

This was the first time she dreamed of the death of her parents after many years when she saw them standing on the side of the road and smiling in her dream.

She wanted to run over, but she only found that the two faces suddenly became her aunt and uncle-in-law.

Waking up from the nightmare, Su Mo quickly took out her phone.

It was two o'clock in the morning overseas. At this time, her aunt was usually eating breakfast and preparing to go to the company. She called her aunt, but no one answered.

Thinking her aunt might be busy, Su Mo put her phone back and lay on the bed, but she could not fall asleep no matter what.

The uneasiness in her heart suddenly came, and that feeling made her feel terrified and restless as if she was suffering the departure of her parents back then.

In a daze, she was woken up by the phone ringing. Su Mo saw that it was a call from home, so she quickly picked it up and asked, "Auntie, why didn't you pick up my phone call just now?"

The servant's voice came from the other side. He said anxiously, "Eldest Miss, come back quickly! Something happened at home!"

"Bang!"

The phone in her hand slipped down, leaving only the voice of the servant in her ears.

"That woman took away Master's money with someone else, and she secretly sent someone to the school to take Young Master away. Master had a car accident on the way to chase after her and died on the spot.

"Now the company is in debt, Madam can't hold on by herself. She committed suicide in the bathroom last night. Today, the police came to check on her assets. No one in the hospital claimed her body. Eldest Miss, come back quickly!"

Su Mo stuffed the passport and wallet into her schoolbag. She took a taxi at the school gate and headed straight to the airport. When she arrived at the airport, she found that all the bank cards her aunt gave her had been frozen, and the money in her wallet was not enough to buy a plane ticket back home.

Despair made its way into her again. Su Mo carried her schoolbag and stood in the huge airport. Looking at the various people around her, she found herself humble and insignificant for the first time.

With her last hope, she walked to the ticket counter, handed over her passport and visa, and said in French in a less-than-standard fashion, "I want to buy the fastest plane ticket to A City in China."

At the airport, the female ground staff reported the flight that met her requirements to her and then helped her handle the formalities.

"Miss, you don't have enough money." The female ground staff looked at her doubtfully when Su Mo was about to pay.

The people who were waiting to buy the tickets all looked over, and Su Mo's face immediately turned red.

Su Mo had never encountered such an embarrassing situation before. She lowered her head uneasily and explained in a low voice, "Sorry, my bank card has been frozen. That's all I have."

The beautiful female ground staff expressed her understanding, but she could not sell the ticket to Su Mo. She could only return the passport, visa, and money to Su Mo.

"Something happened to my family. I have to rush back immediately. Can you help me?" Su Mo asked, looking at her with red eyes.

The female ground staff was also very embarrassed and suggested that Su Mo call her friend to borrow money.

The people behind were in a hurry to buy tickets, so Su Mo had to move aside. She took out her phone and dialed Lin Jinyao's number after hesitating for a long time.

The call went through, but no one answered. She called three times in a row, but no one picked it up. Her tears rolled down silently.

A day ago, she was still a pampered little princess, and she had her aunt and Brother Jin who loved her dearly.

But now, one had died and the other one had left. She could feel nothing but falling from heaven to hell.

She knew that she was not qualified to hate anyone, but she wondered why the heavens were so cruel to her.

The people in line to buy tickets had all left, but Su Mo was still standing next to the counter, constantly dialing the phone.

The phone calls for her roommates were connected, but all of them had already gone home a long time ago. Distant waters were powerless against fires nearby. She had no choice.

"A ticket to A City in China."

A man appeared, wearing sunglasses and branded clothes. He was Chinese, but he spoke standard French.

"Sir, can you lend me some money?" Su Mo walked up to him with the last glimmer of hope and spoke to him in Chinese.

The man took over his plane ticket. Looking at her in his brown glasses, he did not stop for a moment. His slender legs walked past her.

When Su Mo saw this, she quickly grabbed his arm and begged, "Sir, I know I'm being rude, but I have something urgent to do. I'll go to A City too. When I get back to A City, I'll definitely return the money to you."

The man did not seem to hear what she said, his gaze slowly moving up from her hand.

When he saw her face clearly, a strange look flashed through his usually cold eyes. He pursed his perfect lips and spat out two words, "Let go!"

Unexpectedly, he was so hard-hearted. When Su Mo saw that he was about to leave, she hugged his arm with both hands and cried, "My bank cards are all frozen. I don't have enough money on me. I'm begging you. You just need to lend me two hundred Euros."

However, the other party rejected her request. With a slight shake of his arm, he flung her away. Then, the cold man did not even look at her and strode away.
