His Number

We enjoyed lunch while discussing some things that happened in the past when we were in college. I only occasionally responded to the conversation and mostly listened. Sofia and Hayden, on the other hand, were the ones who had the most exciting conversations.

"Wow, you're becoming a great doctor, Sof," Hayden compliments Sofia smilingly.

"No, I'm still like a junior and not as great as you think." Sofia returns Hayden's compliment reluctantly.

"I admit that you are perfect, Sof." Hayden praised again.

A cell phone rang, and I saw Sofia signalling Hayden with her hand. "I'll take a phone call first," Sofia said as she got up from her seat and stepped slightly away from us.

Hayden returned to enjoying his food while I had finished earlier and was just finishing my drink.

I can see that Hayden glances at me. However, I still pretend not to notice. Then, it wasn't long before Sofia finished her call and sat back in her chair.

"Addy, I'm sorry. Yes, it looks like we can't go home together.
