I leaned against the glass windows. It was cool and you could hear the harsh droplets of rain on it. I had loved the rain growing up—

—and all i wanted was the soft water flowing down from my shaved head, down my face and dripping from my chin like lemon juice. I remembered all that had changed since i had left Miami.

And i was to show up, now bald. Now, with cancer and now, without my mother. And then i snapped back, hearing Jacqueline’s whisper on the phone.

“I don’t know what to do”

I had drifted for a second and i raised my face from the glass. “You should do what she’d want you to do” I replied, hoping it was in context.

“Take off the plugs?” She asked and i hummed. “Her and Dele. One of them has to be on the vent because it’s scarce. If Aal would have wanted anything, it’s to give it to him. It’s to give. And i have to make that decision for her and it’s hard”
