12. An Act
The lights had been turned off, the windows had been closed, the curtains and mosquito nets had been installed. The room was now dimly shrouded in the silence of the night. The only source of light coming from the air vent above the window, and the only sound she heard was the sound of the crickets—not even the whirling of the wind.
Airin tried to sleep, comforting herself on the soft bed by hugging the bolster and back and forth to find the right position. But, even though she had been lying comfortably, the drowsiness did not come to her.
