17 - Charlotte meets her rival

At the reception

Charlotte's mood was bitter. She lowered her head, hiding her teary eyes. Throughout the rest of the reception, she was gloomy. Since Pete knew, he didn't ask her about it.

Unfortunately, she insisted on accompanying him to his house. Pete didn't like the idea but couldn't discourage her after the seed Andrew had sown. At the thought of it, all he felt for Andrew was hatred. If he had known that the man wasn't so simple, he would have minded his own business and this wouldn't have happened. But how could he? He worked so hard and made a grave sacrifice to get to the position he was but Andrew was comfortable relying on a woman. It was so unfair.

Regret nudged him but after careful thought, it changed to revenge. If things turned sour between him and Charlotte, he was sure to take it up against Andrew and ruin his relationship with Susan. When they reached Pete's house, Charlotte spoke her mind.

"Pete, let's go our separate ways."
