The Drive

LISA'S POV

I finally called it a night. I had waited an extra twenty minutes and he was still a no-show. I felt a little disappointed as I squeezed the flash drive in my palm. I was looking forward to seeing him again. What face would he wear this time? The first night, he was gloomy. The second night and third night, his expressions were unreadable. I was beginning to wonder if that man could perform the simple act of 'smiling'.

"Well, I'm leaving," I called out to my boss who didn't bother to give a reply.

I stepped out into the cold night with my low waist crazy black jeans and a hoodie. I noticed a familiar car at the next three shops away from the bar.

Nervousness filled me up as I wondered if that was my man. I approached the vehicle and knocked on the passenger's window. It was rolled down and I saw no one inside.

"Get in," Parker's harsh voice filled my ears and he stared at me from the driver's seat. "He's waiting for you."

I smirked as I pulled open the door, "Can't get enough of me, can he?" he drove in silence but I wasn't ready to keep my mouth shut. "What's his deal anyways?"

I noticed a white shopping bag on the car seat-

"It's for you,"

Now he was giving me gifts? I reached for it and pulled out a white branded handbag. The label was intact and judging from the package, this was an original. My face split into a smile and I bit my lips to contain myself.

I glanced at the rearview mirror and held Parker's gaze. The look in his eyes was filled with irritation but I scoffed and waved him off, "Aw come on, don't look at me like that."

I put the bag back in its package. "How much do you think it costs?" I asked even when I knew he wouldn't give a reply.

"More than you could ever make in a lifetime,"

I cringed at his sudden reply, "Don’t be too harsh. I'm sure your boss won’t like it if I'm sad." I said with a pout and he rolled his eyes.

I giggled as I leaned back on the seats, spreading my legs over his seat and the one next to him-

"Hey! Get your legs off! Do you know how much this costs!" he barked.

"More than you could ever make in a lifetime," I threw his words back to him. "Since we're both working for the same boss. Why don't you try being nice to me? Who knows?" I shrugged. "I could help you get a promotion-"

"Don't flatter yourself. You're only an entertainment until he decides to toss you out,"

I laughed heartily at his words. They were so raw but it was a future impossible tense. No one has ever called it quits with me. They were always clinging to me and this one won't be any different.

The only difference would be the money that I would get from him.

"We'll see about that. I just might be your boss's last bus stop," I teased.

Parker had the time to scoff like it was too impossible to even think about.

"What? I hear I'm very homely. I'm a nice person too."

"Yeah with nothing but bad records. Accumulating more debts than you can ever pay," he shook his head. "You should pay up what you owe sooner. My boss won't be generous forever."

Forever? I didn't have until forever to figure that out. Before he would decide to sell my organs once he gets tired of me, I'd take what I can first and bolt.

This bag looked like it would cost a fortune. I would sell it if worse comes to worse.

With the drive in my bag and my intention set on carrying out this mission, I would need to run as soon as possible and I'd need all the money I can get.

I gaped at the building of the office. Even though it was night, the lights around the skyscraper made it look like a giant building. I looked at it and all I saw was money.

With my new handbag under my grip, I sashayed into the building with an extra sway, walking like I owned the place.

He led me to an elevator and when the doors opened, he led me to an office. The room was cold and it smelled fresh in here, kinda like my client. It was twice the size of the bar I worked in and everything looked luxurious.

"Please sit, he'll be with you shortly," Parker pointed to a white couch and I sank down on it. Almost moaning on how soft and comfortable the chair was.

The minute he stepped out I jumped to my feet and started to look around. I approached his desk and saw the words C.E.O inscribed on a glass.

I knew I scored a big one but it was nicer to know who he was.

"Richard Hart,"

His desktop was left turned on just begging to be touched. It seemed as though the universe was in support of my mission.

I jabbed the flash drive in and it began the data collection. I drummed my fingers on the table, looking around for anything else I could snag.

I pulled open the drawers and my eyes brightened when I saw a stack of cash. I picked out at least three bundles of a thousand dollar notes.

Why didn't he put them in a bank? I see my billionaire was into something shady.

I hurried over to drop the cash in my new bag and I packaged it back once I was done. I was about heading back to his desk when I heard his voice.

"No, I won't be there till Friday,"

Fear struck my heart and nervousness weakened my legs. I glanced at the

No! The drive was still plugged in his desktop.
