Sia held the stainless warmer where she had packed food for her mom from the food they had cooked as she got down from the taxi. Adjusting the black hoodie over her head, she walked into the hospital premises and went straight for the elevator. She pressed the floor she was headed and leaned against the walls while rubbing her forehead. The elevator stopped at her mom’s floor and Sia stepped out, managing to drop her head in greetings at the Doctor and nurses who walked past her.She turned the doorknob of her mom’s room and stepped inside. The latter was eating peeled apples and instantly wore a smile upon seeing her. Sia quickened her steps and walked towards her mom relishing the sweet feeling that spread through her stomach when her mom hugged her. This was where she felt the safest.“You brought food oday?” her mom asked and Sia nodded her head anw playful raised her shoulders.“But this time around, your daughter made this food” Sia replied and her mom stared at her in surprise.

CHAPTER EIGHTEENWearing the new bandages around her arm had given Sia the space to think a bit. Her mom wanted to meet both Samantha and Nathaniel. The thought had driven her crazy. Why on earth would her mom want to meet them? Her mom was basically asking to show the duo what her life was like, something she had been trying to hide for the past one and half months. CHAPTER NINETEEN By the time Sia got back home, trickles of sweat had washed down her back soaking the lower part of her hoodie.She was pressed in the door code and opened the door and stepped into the house, much to her surprise, Samantha was sprawled on the chair in the seating room watching TV. She had heard the door lock being pressed in so she had turned to take a glance at who it was. A look of surprise flashed through her face and Sia remembered that she had gotten punched earlier at the ring. While thinking of lies to tell her, Samantha had already stood up and walked to the kitchen bringing back the First Aid box with her. “Come here” Smaantha muttered and Sia sighed softly before going ahead to sit on one of the dining table chairs. CHAPTER TWENTYSomehow a lot of the students who had seen Sia’s picture on Samantha’s story were shocked. The moment they walked into the school; Sia could feel numerous eyes on her. Sia didn’t have any idea of how long she had slept, all she knew was that she wasn’t pinched awake and Samantha was the one looming over her head when she was shaken awake. She looked around the classroom with confused eyes before checking the seat beside her and realising that Nate was not in his seat.“He didn’t come to school today?’ She asked Smanatha who shook her head.“He just walked out of the class a few minutes ago” Samantha replied and Sia raised her eyebrow rising to her feet. Sia pursed her lips getting angry by the second, she had promised herself not to butt into Samantha’s family issue unless Samantha told her about it but her eyes couldn't block out the whisperings of some of their classmates and even the kind of conversations and blogs that went on the school forum.By just reading a few blogs on the school forum; Sia was shocked to realize that she already had a rough explanation of what was going on with Samantha’s family and she found it hard to attach the girl in the blog stories to the cheerful and punky Samantha.
