Jade felt her head spin and closed her eyes but opened it wide when she remembered her morning shift in the hospital. She bolted up from the bed only to land back on the bed when her head throbbed with pain and dizziness attacked. Laying flat on the bed, a low and attractive voice filled the expanse of the silent room. "Are you really a doctor? You don't even know how to take care of yourself when you're sick," was Tyler's sardonic remark. Opening her eyes, the man was towering over her while he stood beside the bed. He was already dressed in his military uniform which Jade deduced he was now reporting for duty. His hazel eyes were like the stars that hang in the sky shining in the dark were looking into Jade's blue eyes, like the vast ocean, shimmering under the sunlight. Their eyes locked for a fleeting moment before Jade looked in another direction avoiding his soul piercing gaze. Slowly, Jade sat up, but her next action was stopped when Tyler placed his hand on her shoulder,
It was noon time when Jade stepped out of the room being asked to dine with the hostess of the mansion. "Ms. Jade, your presence was requested at the dining room," Simeon said, carefully examining Jade from head to toe. In his early fifties, Simeon, who had been serving the Zimmerman's for thirty years, saw Tyler grow up and knew who the people around Tyler were. And he never saw Jade to be one of them. Being with Zimmerman for a long time, Simeon had knowledge of the stipulation made by Tyler's father regarding his inheritance. Simeon knew that Tyler's father didn't want him to marry Sophia. Hence, he was suspicious that Jade was just a wife on paper. Jade wasn't simple minded, she knew that Simeon was sizing her up. Nevertheless, she chose to ignore his scrutiny. "I'll be there in 10 minutes," Jade staggered and swayed when she got up from the bed and nearly collapsed back into the bed but she managed to steady herself. "Madam doesn't want to wait," Simeon spoke indifferently
With her face heating up, the fair and rosy cheeks of Jade were now crimson red. Due to her shock, rather than answering his question she asked him instead. "Why are you here?" "I came back to bring your phone," Tyler lifted her handbag with a frown. Radiant as the sun was Jade's face when a smile bloomed on her face, bedazzling someone who looked at her. Tyler stared at her while she took the handbag from him. "You haven't answered me, Jade," Tyler said, not releasing the handbag to her, looking at the woman who bloomed like a flower in front of him. "I want to go home, Tyler," Jade didn't realize that she mentioned his name smoothly as if they were a real couple. Jade calling his name in an intimate manner tugged at Tyler's heartstrings that compelled him to reach out, gently pat Jade's head and spoke tenderly at her. "Are you bored?" Tyler's action made Jade's heart flip. What's with the move? Is he taking advantage of me? Hearing someone coughing at their back, Jade was r
Back at the old mansion"Madam, Mr. Tyler told me to inform you that she had taken his wife to his mansion," Simeon politely relayed Tyler's message to Cecilia. "What do you perceive?" Cecilia asked Simeon, her eyes trained outside, looking at the trees that had orange leaves signifying the autumn season. Before he opened his mouth to speak, Simeon swallowed. "I think the marriage was nothing but a sham. However, upon observing Mr. Tyler's interaction with the girl his actions were genuine. He cared for her." All the while when Tyler was talking to Jade at the door, Simeon observed Tyler carefully. Tyler's usually calm and cold eyes that showed no emotion at all, had that glow in them, reflecting an emotion flooding his heart. Though Tyler was always gentle and caring towards Sophia his eyes lack luster when he was with her. But not for Jade, his eyes sparkled and carried warmth. It wasn't a pretense. It's just that what was in his heart overflowed and couldn't contain it. At th
Seeing how sorrowful Jade was, Tyler couldn't find it in himself to ignore her and just do nothing to ease it. He approached Jade and sat at the empty space of the couch. Afterwards, he pulled her to him, wrapping the frail woman in his warmth. Jade's body went stiff for a moment when she felt being embraced before she turned to look who came to hug her. Red rimmed eyes came in contact with Tyler's hazel eyes. The coldness of his eyes was replaced by something Jade couldn't name. But she tried to name the emotion in his eyes. Sympathy. That was the emotion held in those attractive hazel eyes. "Why are you crying?" The gentleness in his voice was Jade's undoing. After the death of her biological parents and adoptive parents she never heard anyone ask her in this manner. Unthinkingly, she wound her arms around his waist and cried on his chest. Only her sobs could be heard in the room for about 10 minutes, Tyler stroked her head while she cried like a baby. Letting her water work s
Jade ran downstairs as if she was being chased by an enemy. "Good evening, madam, do you need something?" Gregory, Tyler's butler asked when he saw Jade rushing towards the door. Jade stopped dead and breathed in some air. She didn't turn afraid that Tyler was at the stairs looking at her. "Is there a driver that could send me to my apartment?" Jade knew that a high end community like this would not allow cab to enter. "Yes, madam," Gregory replied and approached the intercom to call a driver. "Thanks," Jade said and walked out of the mansion in a haste. A chilly air encased Jade and she remembered that she had forgotten her purpose why she entered the walk-in closet. Her face, neck and ears turned red as Tyler's image on his boxers floated in her mind. She tried to erase the image of his well sculpted body from her mind but they kept coming back. "Madam," Jade was pulled back from her trance when the driver called her. She looked and saw the driver had already opened the rea
Caught in surprise by Tyler's sudden action, she was knocked off balance and stumbled. Her face landed on Tyler's sturdy chest. She was a little dizzy for some time and her forehead hurt a little at the force she collided on his chest. Tyler tilted his head to look at Jade who rested her forehead on his chest. Their eyes met when Jade slowly lifted her head. Tyler frowned when he saw that her forehead was red. Unconsciously, he lifted his hand and caressed her forehead. "Does it hurt?" It took all of Jade's self control to repress her eyes from rolling. She bit her lower lip so that she wouldn't blurt out anything that would agitate this annoying man in front of her taking into account his temper. "No," Jade answered and shrugged her shoulders before stepping backward only to lose her balance once again. With Tyler's fast reflex, he wrapped his arm around her waist to steady her so she wouldn't fall. Jade wanted to dig a hole, clamber into it and hide. It seemed that Tyler en
Angry drivers cursed at Tyler as he maneuvered the car and swerved to another lane cutting some cars in the process. Jade didn't know when and how long she shut her eyes. Her body was shaking and her breathing was erratic. "We're here," Tyler announced, pulling Jade out of her shock. Breaking down, Jade wept for a while and when she finished letting out her frustration, lifting her head she stared at him. "I want a divorce," the words that came out of her mouth caused Tyler to exude a terrifying aura."We aren't getting divorce until we have completed our mission," he said and slammed the steering wheel. The sound of his fist slamming the steering wheel made Jade jump as it evoked fear she felt when she witnessed her parents being murdered. The scene when her parents were killed replayed in her mind. Hidden by her parents in the closet when their house was raided by uniformed men. Almost, cutting her tongue, biting it to smother her scream, Jade watched the men brutally tortured
