“Come on, let’s get you home. I’ll drive.” I say, taking the keys from her and slinging an arm

around her shoulder. She texts Shaunice that we’ll pick Theo up in the morning and we head up to her apartment.

She unlocks the front door and then goes to the left down a hallway and unlocks another door.

“You have a lock on your bedroom door?”

“Yeah, on mine and Theo’s. I have to keep them locked when I’m not here to stop my mother

from stealing our stuff and selling it for drug money.”

“Oh. I see," I reply, instantly regretting asking the question.
